1	How to deal with someone who is looking at their cell phone while talking to me? (applies to friends too) It may sound negative, but it's the truth. The OP dis say that he wanted to not sound like an asshole. If they say it like that and leave, then nothing is being accomplished. They are just at home with no friends. Literally, I was at a party and no one was talking. Everyone was looking at their phone. If they were speaking to each other, they would interrupt the conversation with a text or something. My advice would be to say, "Would you mind not being on your phone when we are hanging out? You can do that anytime when I am not here.
