I'm actually very good at public speaking when it's something natural and interesting to me, like in my senior thesis classes we had to do presentations and my professor used to joke about how she didn't need to coach me through presentations cause I could just get up there and talk. But that class? God that was the worst.

The tl;dr is that my university had a blow-off class everyone was required to take in public speaking. Most teachers understood that it was a gen-req and just didn't take it too seriously. I had a woman who took it VERY seriously. Instead of a couple presentations on interesting topics to us they had to be like educational topics with a ton of sources and we had to wear suits and ties and girls had to wear dresses. It was insane. It's the only class in college that I got under a B in.

No, not at all. You're equating doing something because you're religious with doing something to avoid punishment or seek reward, that's a pretty unfair generalization of religion. That's not REALLY true. There's some debate as to whether altruism really exists, like, is there anyone who is good purely for the sake of being good, but I don't think it's fair to say that people who are compelled by religion to be good people are somehow less good people than people who do it for some other morality.
