Being their for your friend doesn’t mean to “role play psychiatrist” it could mean a hug, reassurance, something like that the “additional words” you’re talking about are actually important to make someone feel better it’s not just empty words as you seem to think.

Yeah I agree, I wasn’t saying they can’t I’m just saying I’m the other guys case that isn’t at all how you should treat someone when they’re emotional regardless of gender cause that’s how you get punched or lose a friend.

Yeah I know but I’m saying if I wasn’t feeling well emotionally and my friends just came to talk shit I’d wanna punch them in the face it wouldn’t cheer me up.

I don’t know what kind of friends you have but in my opinion that sounds horrible. If I was feeling down and my friends tried to “motivate” me by competing with me in something I’d just be pissed off. Not all men think the way you do, I’d much rather get a hug from my friend than competition which is one of the roots of the problem in the first place.
