That makes me feel a little bit better. I am 27, in graduate school, and have about $12k in savings. But I will be making less than $1000 a month until next year because my internship pays so little, yet it’s full time. At least it’s money.

Well I’m just waiting out the semester because we have two three-hour classes together, so I don’t want to be like “hey I’m disappearing” and then run into her twice a week for six total hours.

I think that’s a good observation. I gave her time and we are very open about communicating. And this is where we’re kind of at. She needs more time to get to where I’m at. But it doesn’t feel likely.

Yeah, for the most part. And we are at a place where we are letting things take their course to see if things change. But once the semester ends, if things haven’t changed, I’m going to have to again affirm that I can’t continue in that capacity for my own emotional well-being. I’ll just be hurt staying her friend when I have deeper feelings, so it will be best to slowly fade out when summer starts. It’s going to suck, but who knows maybe things will change?

Number 3 hurts because that’s happening to me right now. Met a girl who was in a relationship, but became her best friend over the course of a year and obviously developed feelings, but didn’t want to ruin her relationship. When they broke up, I made a move and we got a little intimate, but she shut it down for that reason. Little does she know, she’s already lost me because I can’t go around being as close a friend as she wants without falling for her, so I’m going to have to distance myself an…

You can't fool your own brain. Dude. It's not like you are lying to yourself, it is changing the way that you appraise your own self-worth. Like I make music and I could easily listen to my music and think one of two things. 1) My music sucks because the people who are better than me are just beyond my level, I can't match that. Or 2) I am happy with my music because I made it and I can see my progression as a producer. If you choose a paradigm that encourages a positive attitude towards yoursel…

Completely agree, well said. I hiked the grand canyon rim to rim and back again in 24 hours on a whim. It was like 40 miles of hiking and was one of the hardest things ever! But it became one of my best memories. You are always surprised by what you can accomplish when you are willing to go for it instead of talking yourself down.

How do you escalate the interest that quickly? Like how do you go from the initial match to having them want to hang out//hook up in a matter of a few texts? I may not have the confidence to be as rash as I should be.

I just don't get how to keep interest with tinder. I have had little to no success from that thing. I'll get a decent amount of matches, always be the first to message them and then after the first or second message back, immediately get no response. I don't know what they're doing on there if they aren't looking to talk, maybe there are just a shit load of cooler guys taking to them too. I've only met up with two girls from tinder so far haha and I've been using it for months. I think meeting i…

Those are the girls that I need to find. I have to hide my drug use since I live in such a religiously conservative city :(

I have a friend like this. He doesn't try hard at anything in life, but everything works out for him. With girls, he has had at least 4 try to hook up with/date him this past month, yet he put absolutely no effort into it and denied a few of them. He mainly just stays at home playing video games or watching TV. He hates going to bars/clubs/house parties and mainly just has girls come talk to him at the gym or in mutual friends groups. Barely any effort exerted whatsoever when it comes to spittin…

Dude I feel you, I'm the exact same. And I live with a bunch of religious people, so no one is interested in my humor aside from my childhood friends. Kind of sucks.

You're one hundred percent correct. I'm a very inexperienced man. But thanks for the tips regardless.

Any tips for how you do so well from Tinder meetups? I should, hopefully, be meeting up with a girl from Tinder tomorrow night for the first time ever. We're both from out of town on vacation, and I'm sure she has the same intentions since it's not like we are going to be around each other in the long-term. But, how do you go from just barely introducing yourself for the first time to guiding the interaction to hooking up? I'm afraid I'm not that assertive. Every girl I've gotten with in my life…

I don't know, what if he was saying it with confidence but jokingly? I always talk in dumbass voices and use funny slang because I simply find it funny and I like my sense of humor god damn it.

Well said my man! I learned the illusion of physical pleasure very late in life, I was abusing massive amounts of drugs from age 18-21. I've just barely stopped this past year and I'm trying to get my emotional mindset back together and try to have luck with the women because when I was abusing drugs, I had no physical contact whatsoever because I was so driven towards the drugs. It really fucked with my self-image and being a virgin still gets to me ass well. But once my mind is settled, the re…

4 hour work week? Is that for real? Thanks for the ideas though. I'm looking into doing the English teaching in Asia for like 5 months, but vagabonding seems like it would be so hard haha, I'm jealous of you man. Keep on keeping it real!

Can I just ask how you have that kind of money to travel the world for years on end? I would love to do that, but I couldn't even afford a plane ticket to Australia.

Huge drug user here, I have your same problem. 2c-b always has appealed to me, it sounds very fun because of this speedy, euphoric side to it. But people have already said it, if you can do it on drugs, you can do it sober. Only you are holding yourself back.

Cool I'll probably end up doing that. He was saying just say something like "what's up?" to start small talk, I was thinking something alone the lines of "hi __, it's __, it was nice meeting you last night, let's get together this weekend and hang out again." Someone said they focus purely on logistics and I think I lean towards that as well. Texting bores me very easily. I'm curious if you think that's a better idea.

I know that feel with the traveling. I've been to about 8 or 9 countries in Europe. I love traveling more than anything, but people in America are a little more closed off to those kinds of conversations, at least the people who don't travel. The world and your experiences are so fun to talk about but people can't connect unless they've been there or done something similar sadly. I remember I went to a show and one of my acquaintances brought a girl who wasn't too into the music or anything and …

I don't like the way you described seduction here. You made it seem like it's to become better than women (transcending what they think of you) but I think it's more of a way to become better with women. For example, making them think more highly of you rather than thinking of yourself as already high.

I really like the last paragraph, great advice! Especially for someone like me who has problems over-analyzing everything! When you stop thinking and let things naturally flow, it's always easier. Making my scumbag brain shut the fuck up is the hardest part.

the environment you're putting yourself in. I could not agree with this more. I have only kissed like 6 girls in my life. I'm 22, a virgin, I've never even made out, I definitely suck ass haha. I didn't get my first kiss until I was 20. So in high school, since I wasn't getting any, when I would go to parties, I would search for drugs and alcohol to replace that hole in my heart. I now have substance abuse problems and still am pathetic with girls. It was all my fault, I have no one else to blam…

Dude I am literally in the same boat! I hate to say it but I'm a little reassured that I'm not alone. I've fucked up opportunities with the last three girls because I'll kiss them good night, but I'm just very awkward and struggle with the physical escalation, so they never talk to me after haha. As for physical escalation, what I've been trying to do is maybe starting with neutral things like putting your hand on their back to lead them or when you are teasing them to touch their shoulder and i…

I really needed to read an answer like this. I was in same situation as OP just a few weeks ago. She was asking me for dates, then I kissed her good night and never heard from her again. Like I know I'm awkward, but fuck haha. But might as well just accept that I'll never understand exactly what I did wrong and just try to do better the next time because prying isn't going to get me anywhere. It is a slap in the face for your self-confidence though. I so shakily just asked a girl at school for h…

How do you recommend teaching yourself a language? I took Spanish classes in high school/college and a few of my friends speak it fluently, but I kind of fell off the learning curve. I would love to be bilingual someday.

Maybe I'll have to bite the bullet. The last girl I got we used social media for exchanging numbers, but that was a year ago haha. But I'm a lot happier without social media. God damn paradoxes. Thanks anyways.

What if you don't use social media? Would that just be a lost cause? I don't have Facebook, Instagram, twitter, any of that shit, it's just not my thing. It's like a 50/50 thing for me. Sometimes I can get girls' numbers because of it, but then I also wonder how many opportunities I've missed because of it.

I'm a door to door salesman right now. I haven't made any sales yet so my confidence is continuously decreasing. Plus I'm going broke. I just think I suck at being a people person. I'm awful with girls too haha. How do you get better? Just keep getting rejected?

I wish I could help you man. But I'm interested in hearing some ideas too. I'm about to turn 22, graduate from college, and I still live with my parents. I'm poor as fuck. And as you can imagine, incredibly alone haha.

I'm right in your position dude. The shallow flirting is easy for me. But, when I try being more assertive, I freeze up! I would say that you didn't do anything wrong since it was your first time out with this girl. If she agreed to go out again Wednesday, then she has some interest. But don't waste time to make a serious move, because if you wait too long she'll move on. I made this mistake with the last girl I liked. I follow the rule "3 strikes and you're out." So Wednesday will be strike two…

Been barking up that tree for years man. Not a good road to go down. Lots of loneliness, and, in my case, drugs haha. Don't think it won't ever happen, but if you want something, work on it yourself.

Dude I feel the exact same way. I suck ass at initiating conversations, but once one is flowing I feel like it's always one-sided. I'm listening to people talk about themselves and showing interest the whole time, but once they are done they never ask me about myself. Even when I try to interject comments about myself, they usually are just pushed to the side. I'm curious, how do you try to handle it? I'll just sit there quietly, but then that usually just ends the conversation. Another thing th…
