It's the way you have to insert it. A female condom has to be pushed all the way up to your cervix and form a suction. In terms of invasiveness and discomfort, this is more akin to getting a pap smear than having sex. It's very clinical and often painful.

If the women you're dating are 30+, a lot of them are probably off of hormonal BC for health reasons. Chance of dangerous side effects increases significantly after 30 and especially after 35.

Also, as someone who's done both -- my IUD insertion and removal were more painful than labor and it's not close. Probably the worst pain I've ever experienced. Of course, I had an epidural for labor, which isn't an option for IUD insertion.

I assume the ban would be for non-medically necessary circumcisions for minors, not just a blanket ban of all circumcision. Just like plastic surgery laws in a lot of places. Your kid can get facial reconstruction surgery after an accident or for a cleft palate or something, but a cosmetic nose job has to wait until they're 18.

This is my experience too. I'm the mother of a boy (soon to be two) who didn't circumcise and my husband isn't circumcised. This is something we both feel pretty strongly about and I've participated in anti-circumcision groups online. Those groups are comprised almost entirely of women, and many of them are there looking for info to try and convince their husbands not to circumcise. This is reflected in the couples I know IRL too; in every single couple I know who had a conflict about this, it w…

but that would be like an evolutionary advantage to eat so little and still be gaining weight. That would mean your body is more efficient. I mean...yeah, female bodies literally are more efficient in terms of calorie expenditure. That's the tradeoff for lower muscle tone and higher body fat. It's an advantage in some ways and a disadvantage in others.

Neither of us are really big on lavish gifts or spending big heaps of money on each other so idk. I'm more about daily acts of love and service than big grand gestures. The only thing I can really think of is when his mom died of cancer on Thanksgiving. I left Thanksgiving with my family and drove across the state (~12 hours) to be with him. He insisted that I stay and enjoy the day with my family but I wanted to be there for him so that's what I did.

There's no way you could possibly know that and I sincerely doubt it is the case. Taylor is worth maybe a billion, and half of that is in the valuation of her catalog. Elon is worth 250 BILLION. Unless you have receipts there's no way you're going to convince me that Taylor has more cash than Elon does. And when you're a multi multi multi billionaire, debt is meaningless. It's a tool that you leverage. Elon Musk is not hurting for cash.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/07/24 02:27 AM
3

Sorry I have to be an annoying swiftie and nitpick, but Taylor's wealth is not mostly cash. Most of her wealth is in the valuation of her music catalog which would only become realized if she sold it, which she will never do. Another huge chunk of her wealth is in her real estate portfolio and businesses. Obviously she has a lot of liquid cash too, but I would bet on my life that Musk has way more than she does.

Honestly I never believed in soulmates/love at first sight/any of that stuff, and I still kind of don't...but yeah, I honestly do think it was love at first sight/first interaction with my husband lol. I can't really explain it, but meeting him felt like getting struck by lightning. We didn't get together for over a year after that initial meeting, and I was completely obsessed with him the entire time. This is spot-on, I think. When women say "we started as friends" they mean "we met in a low-stakes social context and the relationship escalated from there." I have this funny theory that a lot of confusion on this topic is because women don't really have a word like "buddy." Men use that word to describe other men who they are on friendly social terms with but maybe don't have a close relationship or spend a lot of one-on-one time with. Women don't really use that word, especially for men (it s…

I do not like them at all and have never dated a man with one. They cover up the part of a man's face I like the best (smile lines, dimples etc.) But I don't think my opinion is particularly representative. A lot of women like beards, and IME the women who are into them are REALLY into them.

Dairy farms never looked like that. But my dad is a cattle rancher as are my in-laws and their ranches do look like this. My dad recently had to hire a group of cowboys to remove another rancher's cows from his land and drive them back across the river to the other rancher's property.

This is definitely a regional thing and I'd say even a subculture thing within that region. I'm from Texas and spent my 20s hanging out at country bars so I saw a lot of cowboy types and girls going after cowboy types. But if you ran around with a different crowd and hung out at different places (which I also did) you didn't really see that. It's a sizeable subculture in some states but it's not something every woman wants. It's interesting that it's a thing in South Carolina though. I associate…

I think checking it as a rule before entering a relationship is weird and I probably wouldn't be comfortable with that. But over the course of a relationship you tend to learn each other's passcodes and get access to devices. I leave my phone unattended all over the house and my husband could easily look at it any time he wants. Maybe he has. I don't care, I don't have anything to hide.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/24 02:15 PM

I have no idea how many contacts I have in my phone, probably several hundred? I never delete contacts so I still have people from like five jobs ago in my phone, plus my cell is also my work phone so I have tons of clients' numbers. I regularly text my husband, his sister, my mom, my dad, my brother and two friends. I'm in a couple of discords, I'm not sure how many other people are in them. This is only a problem if you consider "friend" to be the deepest and most profound human relationship, which I don't. I would hope my husband has a different dynamic with his male friends than he has with me. We are "friends" in that we enjoy each other's company, but there's a lot more to our relationship that goes beyond just that. I don't want him to love me as a friend first and foremost, I want him to love me as a spouse.

My teenage years were basically all the responsibilities of being an adult (well, not all, but a lot) and none of the freedoms. I was expected to get a job as soon as I legally could, and I had to pay for pretty much everything except housing and food. What causes that desire? Is it something completely random? Why wouldn't you desire to be around someone who "checks all of your boxes" like OP said? I don't know. It's one of the great mysteries of life. You just click with some people and not others. And yes, that intense connection is the foundation of every relationship I've ever had. The rest is built on that foundation. You singled out the sex thing and disregarded what I said about a psychological connection. It's an amalgamation of thing…

Exactly. You're more likely to experience violence at the hands of someone you know because that's who you're more likely to be around and be in a vulnerable position with. If women spent prolonged periods of time alone with male strangers, they would be attacked more often by male strangers (and indeed the statistics about violence against sex workers bear this out). There's nothing about knowing a man that makes him inherently more violent than a stranger, he just has more opportunity. This ar…

Are women conscious about this issue what do they do to alleviate that? This is the whole reason there's "day makeup looks" and "night makeup looks." You tend to go heavier and more dramatic for environments with low/atmospheric lighting, and more natural for everyday environments. But some people use makeup as a fashion statement and don't care if it doesn't look natural or "good" if they're trying to achieve a particular aesthetic.

I've been on this stupid sub (under a few different usernames) since like 2015 lol The real inflection point came I believe in 2019 when r/incels and a bunch of similar subs were banned. It's important to me because I am close to my friends and family and wouldn't want to date or marry a person they don't like or get along with. I make a distinction between cheating and infidelity. Cheating is sexual infidelity. But there are other types of infidelity. All cheating is infidelity but not all infidelity rises to the level of cheating. a guy's wife accusing him of cheating because he bought a bicycle for his female ex-classmate's 6yo son I wouldn't consider this "cheating," but depending on the context I might consider it a form of infidelity. That's a pretty generous and familiar gesture toward a non-related woman.

I find that sex is very out of sight out of mind for me. When I'm single I can go months without thinking about it. But the more sex I have the more I want. So being in a relationship and having regular sex keeps my sex drive stoked and makes me want it more often. I've also found that my sex drive has increased in my 30s (I've been with my husband since I was 23, I'm 35 now)

This is actually the advice that helped me the most in dealing with my social anxiety. My therapist said "You would be shocked at how little other people are thinking about you." Once I internalized that, I had a lot less anxiety in my interactions with people because I knew once the interaction was over they weren't going to spend the next week thinking about what a stupid weirdo I am. I think maybe people are talking past each other. Most women don't need penetration for physical satisfaction aka orgasm. Penetration is mentally/emotionally stimulating but not usually as physically stimulating toward orgasm as clitoral stimulation (exceptions exist, #notallwomen etc., just speaking generally). But I do agree most women need both to feel completely satisfied/fulfilled and wouldn't be happy with exclusively non-penetrative sex.

I don't really consume any media through the lens of wanting to be the main character/narrator/protagonist. If characters are written with verisimilitude then I will often find them relatable, and that's true of male or female characters. Yes, we knew severe autism existed. Mild autism was not diagnosed as such back then, it was diagnosed as a separate disorder (Asperger's) or most often not diagnosed at all. You will need to provide evidence that cases of severe, nonverbal/nonfunctioning autism have increased rather than more mild cases now falling under the autism spectrum and inflating the numbers.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/24 04:18 AM

It absolutely does explain it. When you expand the diagnostic criteria for a disorder, more people will qualify as having that disorder and be diagnosed. Initially, the autism diagnosis was reserved for severely disabled people. What used to be called Asperger's or "functional autism" was a separate diagnosis. Now it's all folded together under one diagnosis, ASD. That's why autism diagnoses have increased - the disorders those people would have formerly been diagnosed with are no longer recogni…

Before birth control, women were having kids until they died or hit menopause, whichever came first. Go back in your family history and see how old your great-grandmother or great-great-grandmother was when her youngest child was born. Chances are she was well past "prime" breeding age. Relationships are a dynamic between two people who inspire certain behaviors in one another, for better or worse. I don't think that different behavior in one relationship vs. another is necessarily indicative of how much someone values those partners. There are many factors at play. Not every trait has to be evolutionarily advantageous. As long as it doesn't sufficiently stop organisms from reproducing, a trait will persist. I think the female clitoral orgasm evolved to prevent injury and infection from penetration. So men's bodies are built to orgasm during intercourse, but women's bodies are built to orgasm before. But ultimately the female orgasm isn't strictly necessary for reproduction.

I actually have a very vivid memory of this day because my childhood dog died on the same day. I had just turned 9 earlier that month. Mind you, at this point he was literally engaged to the girl he cheated on me with (I didn't find out he was cheating until after we broke up for other reasons). Prenatal paternity tests can be done at 7 weeks. A lot of women don't even know they're pregnant by that point and early miscarriages are often mistaken for periods. At most he would be paying for a week or two's worth of child support between when she first knows she's pregnant and when she's able to get the test. But either way, I would assume no man would be required to pay without a test, since that's how child support for born children works.

There's an understood "no girls allowed" when men are hanging out together. I'd never invite myself along with my husband and his friends unless I knew other wives were going to be there. My husband has a friend who always invites his wife to their group hangs and it pisses the rest of the guys off.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/12/23 04:25 AM

If it's just me and my female friends then no I wouldn't want him to come. One man in a group of women throws off the vibe and no one wants to be the person who can't do anything without their bf/gf. Plus he wouldn't have any fun either. If it's a mixed sex group that includes my friends plus their boyfriends/spouses or other male friends, then yes I'd want him to come.

I was factoring in the PMS as well. What about PMS? PMS happens during the luteal phase which is when most women's sex drive is the lowest, because that's when progesterone is highest. Early sexual maturity and early menopause doesn't say anything about women being less hornier than men You're the one who brought it up as evidence of women being more horny than men which makes even less sense.

Yeah, this conversation is pretty much a moot point in those states because abortion is effectively outlawed in those states too. /r/PurplePillDebate04/12/23 06:16 PM

The window for financial abortion should fall between the time when you're able to get an in-utero paternity test and a few weeks before the abortion cutoff. There should be enough of a cushion for the woman to still seek an abortion after the man financially "aborts." Otherwise he could rescind financial support at the last minute and she wouldn't have time to get an abortion. You also have to factor in that all this paperwork will take a while to go through.

As a matter of fact I do, unless she's sick or injured in some way. But I'm talking about the legal realities of marriage. When you get married, your money and property literally become your spouse's money and property, and vice versa. That's what marriage IS. Your spouse is quite literally entitled to your money and resources, legally speaking. Because it's also their money and resources.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/23 05:14 PM

I didn't say anything about paternity fraud so idk what inconsistency you're perceiving. Rape by deception was just a really weird and illogical place to take this conversation. There are probably other legal avenues it could theoretically fall under.

Literally yes. Marriage makes the husband and wife a sole economic unit, that's one of its main functions.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/23 04:24 PM

I'm pretty sure rape by deception only applies to cases where the person actually misrepresented their identity, e.g. identical twins switching places, or a guy coming into a dark room pretending to be your boyfriend and having sex with you. I don't think we want to set the precedent that if you lie to your spouse about anything you're raping them.

Apparently such behavior has never been even attempted to prosecute under monogamy laws Well, you're not finding this because having a family with a mistress isn't illegal. Monogamy laws are about official spouses. If you're not actually married to the other woman, you're not breaking any laws so there's nothing to prosecute.

/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/23 01:19 PM

I am a cripplingly shy person so you're preaching to the choir here. I'm not saying it's morally bad. I'm saying it creates an unpleasant social experience for other people, which is what people mean when they say "bad personality." I didn't make assumptions, I literally said we can't assume because the stat doesn't say. YOU guys are the ones assuming it's female on female. What "platitude" did I make?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/23 05:40 AM

No? Stats say what they say. If the stat was that lesbian relationships are more likely to include domestic violence, I would take that at face value. But that's not what it says. This is just reading comprehension. I'm not adding qualifiers, I'm reading what the study actually says.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/23 05:29 AM

The statistical fact is that women currently in lesbian relationships are more likely to have experienced domestic violence. It's a fallacy to assume that all or most of that violence was at the hand of another woman, especially given that most women in lesbian relationships have dated men in the past.

Gay men are notoriously non-monogamous. Technically that isn't disloyal if it's an agreed-upon arrangement in their marriage, but that's not a dynamic most straight couples or lesbians are happy with. It's hard to answer the first question because my brain doesn't really think in percentages, and also because once I find one guy attractive I tend to hyperfocus on him and ignore everyone else. It's not that he's the only guy in the room who could potentially be attractive to me, he's just the one who happened to spark my interest first. As for the second question, they're just neutral. I don't have the mental bandwidth to walk around forming opinions on random people I don't know.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/11/23 06:12 PM

It's very rare that I find someone "repulsive." Like, they have to have terrible BO or some kind of festering sores or something to reach that level. Most people, men and women, are just neutral. But there was never a shortage of attractive men. Whether I take note of them depends more on my mood/headspace and the environment. That means these women are pretty one-dimensional too and are probably pretty evenly matched with these men. You only think they're more interesting because you're a straight man and find them attractive.

It's not that important to me, but most women for whom it's a requirement or strong desire come from a socioeconomic background where being college educated is the norm. It's a class filter, and college education is a good proxy for a lot of other traits they desire.

If it's a secret then it doesn't really make a difference to me does it? I guess if the question is which one would be easier to deal with once the secret is out, it would be the female friend who secretly hates me. I would just stop being friends and talk shit behind her back, which is kind of fun and I wouldn't feel guilty because she hates me already. The male friend, assuming I don't share his feelings, is a more awkward and delicate situation to handle.

This isn't uncommon at all? They don't need to be in the same room at the same time to compare them. If you knew a woman when she was married to her first husband and still know her after she marries her second then you know both men. "Popular" has always been an interesting concept to me because, at least at my high school, I found that the people who were considered to be "popular" weren't necessarily the most widely-liked people, and vice versa. By the strictest definition of the term, my best friend was one of the most popular people in our school. She was cool, interesting, outgoing, charismatic. Everyone got along with her. But she was also weird and a slacker, alternative, genius-level smart but academically lazy, her …

Absolutely not. Most women, even very fit women, do not have the upper body strength or bone density to take out a man with a punch. She would break her own hand before she did any real damage to him.

Sure, I could be stronger. But even if I was stronger than I am now, most men would be stronger than me. My brother might have to use two hands to restrain me instead of just one. Elsewhere in this thread I posted some charts about benchpress numbers for men vs. women. Women's "advanced/elite" numbers were similar to the "untrained/novice" numbers of men of the same size. Women being the sex that bears young creates huge differences on our physiology that can't be overcome with weight training. …

"If a woman is stronger than a man she is stronger than him" yes, obviously. Most women, even if they lift/train, won't be stronger than men even if they don't. Compare the male and female charts here: https://www.healthline.com/health/exercise-fitness/average-bench-press#average-for-men Advanced/elite for women is barely stronger than untrained/novice for men. A woman benching 100kg (220lb) would have to be a 200-lb elite weightlifter.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/10/23 04:41 PM

No. A woman who lifts is usually still going to be weaker than a man who doesn't. https://boysvswomen.com/

Outside of a sexual context that's just not what the phrase "hooking up" means. You don't say "I hooked up a fish," you say "I hooked a fish." You would say hooking up when you're talking about attaching two things together, e.g. "I hooked up my monitor to my laptop." So why would the sexual connotation be the first and not the second? It's called hooking up because it's an attachment/connection.

"Average" is a wide range, and there are some men who fall into that range who I find attractive and some I don't. Sometimes it's physical, sometimes it's a personality thing, sometimes it's just an intangible "not feeling it" that probably has as much to do with me and my mood as the guy himself.

I don't think they do universally. My friends are split like 50/50 on liking beards or not. And the women who are into beards are REALLY into them. Personally I am not a fan of beards because a man's jaw/chin/dimples/mouth lines/etc. are my favorite part of his face and I don't like it to be covered up. Plus beard hair reminds me of pubes and it feels gross when kissing and there's nothing nastier than watching a man with a beard eat.

No, I'm saying as a heterosexual woman I can say that I have attractive female friends but that doesn't mean that I, personally, am sexually attracted to them. Sometimes you just don't have sexual chemistry with people, or sometimes people can be attractive objectively speaking but not your type. Silicon Valley and Hollywood are like 400 miles apart. I just don't think these people cross paths that much because their industries are based in different places. An estimated one in ten women have endometriosis and even more than that have PCOS, I think around 20%. Both of those conditions cause painful periods, and birth control is the first order of treatment for both. Most women also have some hormonal acne especially in their teen years. I haven't seen anyone claim that "all girls are on bc for basically no reason."

I never said it's given to everyone by default. I said it's prescribed off label to girls and women who aren't sexually active. Those health issues you mentioned are very common and it results in a lot of women being put on birth control even if they're not sexually active.

And most women don't have naturally straight hair, so if that's "all" that's required that's going to be a lot of salon visits and home styling to achieve that look.

The man. I'm married with a great sex life. We've steadily had sex 4-5 times a week for the last 10 years except for when I was on pelvic rest during pregnancy and after birth. I am always down when he initiates, but he almost always initiates. Because sex is simply "out of sight, out of mind" for me. I don't wake up wanting it like he does. It doesn't take a lot to put me in the mood, but "the mood" is pretty much a constant for him. This has been true of all my past relationships too.

One of my best friends since first grade is a guy. We're practically like siblings and my parents even call him their third son (I have two brothers). Yes, we both agree I'm wrong for being with him in the first place. But here we are. I have made a mistake and am dating a man with an intolerably ugly couch. The couch is very important to him and he won't get rid of it. I can't live with the couch. There is no compromise to be reached. So answer the question. How do I tell him this is my reason for breaking up with him without being "controlling"? Saying "You shouldn't have dated him in the first place" isn't an answer. In the analogy, I AM da…

I agree he was dumb to get into a relationship with her in the first place. I just think that's a separate issue from whether or not he was being controlling. “hey, stop doing this thing you love or else we won’t date” is controlling behavior So then setting any boundaries for what you'll put up with in a relationship is controlling. He is allowed to leave a relationship for any reason he wants, including reasons you or I think are dumb.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/23 02:16 PM
33

I don't see how what he did was controlling in any way. He laid out what his issues were and said that if the behavior didn't change he would exit the relationship. He wasn't threatening or aggressive in any way. He even wished her well and said no hard feelings. I think the particular things he took issue with are pretty dumb, but that's really neither here nor there. People are allowed to leave relationships for reasons I think are dumb. But I don't see how that makes his behavior controlling.

it's up to women to save the world, but they can't do that if they're cleaning the porch all day and God knows what else, laundry, dishes, cooking whatever. That stuff is fine when the world isn't on fire. Why doesn't this equally apply to women who have jobs? Most women aren't communist revolutionaries, whether they're "trad wives" or not. And even when "the world is on fire," people still have to eat, wear clothes and live in clean environments.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/23 06:41 PM

You can take information you glean from the debates here and apply them to your life the way you would apply advice. But the purpose of this sub is not "advice" and never has been. If you want kids with someone your age, you should aim to be married no later than 30. Which means you should be seriously dating by your mid 20s. Unless you work on a submarine, there's no reason working should mean you can't date. Learn to walk and chew gum at the same time.

Sure I agree with all of this. To be clear, when I say "have sex when he initiates" I don't mean just lie back and let him stick it in dry right then and there. I mean have an open and generous mindset toward your partner, don't interpret his sexual advances as him asserting his selfish needs. Interpret it as a bid for love and connection, relax and be open to it. If he's a good partner he'll do what it takes to physically prepare you for intercourse (and if he doesn't, again, why are you with h…

Foreplay exists. I'm not suggesting you just let him stick it in dry whenever he wants. Because it's hurtful to neglect your partner's needs, because it's good for the relationship, because the female sex drive is very fickle and responsive so waiting until you're "in the mood" can often create a negative feedback loop where you're NEVER in the mood, whereas having more sex will often do the opposite and put you "in the mood" more often. I mean, I don't think there's any reason you can't focus on your friendships while pursuing your goals. I guess it depends on what your goals are. I don't understand why people think this video is an example of a woman trying to "have it all." This woman is 36 and says she's been divorced for three years, which means she divorced at 33. She said she has embryos with her ex-husband, which means they had tried to do IVF while they were married. People don't just start out with IVF, especially in their 20s. You do IVF after a year or two of failed attempts to get pregnant. This likely means they were trying for kids in her mid-20s and she cou…

Lol if you've got Taylor Swift tickets you will have no shortage of women of every demographic who would be willing to go with you. Just be prepared to prove the tickets are legitimate. I'd probably try the local sub of the city where the concert is. I've gotta say though I'm not sure a concert like that is a great first date.

I have both, but it's not hard for me to understand why someone would want pets and not kids. Pets are fun and cute and silly, and they give you an outlet for nurturing and caring for something but with much less responsibility. First of all, you don't have to carry your pets in your body for nine months and then give birth to them and live the rest of your life in a body that was affected by that process. You can have pets as a single person without issue. Of course you can be a single mom too,…

Most of my male friends have been in my life for 15 years or more at this point. They knew me when I was single. I don't understand what it means to love someone if you exclude their actions and how they make you feel. You can go longer between washes with long hair because if it's dirty you can braid it or throw it up in a bun. You don't have those options with short hair. Short hair has to be washed more often and needs at least a little bit of styling every day. It's much less forgiving. The only thing you really save time on with short hair is drying, but again, you're washing it less frequently to begin such so you're not blow drying it as often. (And a lot of women with long hair let it air dry, which ag…

Flirting is a word used in more languages than english and it means the same thing everywhere. It evidently doesn't, because no English speaker uses the word flirting to encompass any expression of sexual/romantic interest. It's a very specific type of interaction. If it's not playful and lighthearted it isn't flirting.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 10:06 PM
3

I know you are ESL so you are just going to have to trust me on this. "Flirting" in English means a playful, lighthearted interaction that's suggestive but indirect. It's even used in other contexts, e.g. "I've been flirting with taking a trip to the Bahamas" would mean "I've been thinking about taking a trip to the Bahamas, but I'm not serious about it yet." Once it becomes serious and direct (e.g. "I'm planning a trip to the Bahamas"') it ceases to be flirting.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:50 PM
3

No. Confessing is not flirting because it is straightforward and emotionally heavy. Flirting is neither of those things. Flirting is suggestive and playful, not direct and serious. I suppose there is a way you could confess your feelings in a flirtatious manner, but generally "confession" implies something more heavy.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:42 PM

No. Confessing is straightforward and has emotional weight. Flirting is lighthearted, meant to titillate and intrigue with some plausible deniability.

This is a pretty normal conversation among parents of boys. People want to know what you chose and why, and they're quick to offer up the same info about themselves or what they would do if they hypothetically had a son. IME women usually say they defer to the dad, and the dad is always the one who wants it. But I've never ended a relationship for that reason and never ended a relationship with a specific guy in mind. Well, I have a kid, so no because that would make it impossible for a relationship between us to ever really be serious. No hard feelings and I wouldn't blame him, but it just wouldn't work out for obvious reasons. If I didn't already have a child, sure. Edit: I do wonder though if he applies the same rule to related children like nieces and nephews. If so, I don't think I would date him because we have incompatible views on duty to family.

If I were marrying someone later in life and he had already built up a sizable amount of wealth separately from me, I wouldn't have a problem with a prenup. /r/PurplePillDebate17/02/23 04:43 PM
1

Oh my god. For the last time: "Signing the birth certificate" (which isn't even a thing in a lot of states) does not establish legal paternity If you are not married, you can refuse to sign an acknowledgment of paternity until you get a DNA test. If you are married, you have a window to contest paternity which can be done after a home test concludes you're not the father.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/23 04:39 PM

This is not true at all, in fact in many cases the father is ordered to pay child support retroactively. You are really just making shit up, unless maybe you're talking about a country besides the US.

Signing an acknowledgement of paternity can waive the right to a DNA test before establishing legal parental responsibility. Right. And he can choose not to sign it without a DNA test, or choose not to sign it at all. But even if he doesn't sign it, if she pursues child support in court or enrolls in any welfare programs, the state will go after him for a DNA test and (if he is the father) child support. I would have assumed before that a judge would have to be convonced to compel a test on a pa…

You're talking about the acknowledgment of paternity, not the birth certificate. Yes, a father can choose not to sign it. However, if the mother goes after you for child support, you will be court ordered to take a DNA test.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/23 03:47 PM
3

The birth certificate does not establish legal paternity. Signing or not signing it does not determine whether you pay child support. The birth certificate is just that -- a record of a birth. In many states neither parent signs it. What happens is the mother tries to get some form of welfare (SNAP, CHIP, etc.) To do so, she has to name a father. The state will then send you a court order for a DNA test, and if you are the father, they will start dunning you for child support to recoup the costs…

Yes, a home test will not be admissible in court. But you can get a home test, and if it says the baby isn't yours, THEN you can get a court-ordered test. At that point I imagine you wouldn't be worried about pissing the mom off.

There are only three ways paternity is legally established -- by marriage, by formal adoption, or by signing a legal acknowledgement of paternity (not the same as the birth certificate) and submitting it to the court. You are perfectly within your rights to ask for a paternity test. What Redditors seem to want, though, is to not suffer any consequences. That's not how it works. You don't even have to ask. You can just GET a paternity test. Swab the baby's cheek and send it off. If it turns out to be yours the mom never even has to know. I don't understand this obsession with "asking" for a test. The Bureau of Labor Statistics measures labor market activity, working conditions, price changes, and productivity in the U.S. economy to support public and private decision making. The bureau of labor statistics deals with data pertaining to working people. It's not some grand conspiracy. Non-working women (and men) are simply beyond the scope of what they do. I earn more than my husband but the difference is negligible, just a few thousand a year. His job doesn't offer insurance though, so he and our son are on my health insurance (I'm a state employee and our insurance is very good; it costs me $600/mo to cover both of them on my plan) Neither of us are trust fund kids or have any assets to speak of. We were broke 23-year-olds fresh out of college when we got together. I guess if there was a catch it would be that he has the capacity to earn a lot m…

I don't think anyone's claiming that on an individual level women are consciously rejecting men out of fear of pregnancy. It's more an explanation of the evolutionary basis for why women are more selective in general.

I mean, here's the thing. He was specifically going for elementary teaching jobs. A lot of parents are uncomfortable with the idea of a male teacher working with their very young children. Kids that age often still have accidents or need help going to the bathroom, and parents don't want a man helping their child with those intimate things. To mitigate those fears, you'd have to hire more female aides to help the male teachers with that stuff, which costs the school more money. I'm not sure that…

If your main problem is flyaways -- just random stray strands that won't lie down -- running an unscented dryer sheet over your hair or spraying some Static Guard onto your comb/brush or directly onto your hair (from a 6-12in distance) can help calm them down. Nor does wanting investment advice for the 50k imply that the pension isn't sufficient. You can have "sufficient" money but still want to invest and make more. This is why I got an under the desk treadmill. Between work, housework, childcare, hygiene, sleep and trying to spend quality time with my husband, there just aren't enough hours in the day. Could I theoretically do it? Sure, but it would cut into the already very limited time I get to spend with my family. Not worth it. If that means weighing 145 lbs instead of the 130 I'd prefer then that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

I mean sure, if you're in basic training and working out for hours every day you're going to lose weight regardless. But we're talking about what's feasible for the average person. Your average wife with a job and kids can't do basic training levels of exercise, she can maybe fit in an hour of exercise a day and that's not going to put much of a dent in her weight. A single snack could cancel out an hour of exercise. Obviously I'm not saying people shouldn't work out, it definitely helps a littl…
/r/PurplePillDebate05/02/23 05:40 PM

Women in basic are no different... This is just a completely ignorant statement. Women ARE different, our bodies are different, our body composition is different, our hormones are different, our cycles are different. Any woman who's successfully lost weight and kept it off will tell you that she did it with diet, not exercise. Exercise is great for strength, mobility, tone and cardio health but its effect on weight is negligible unless it's paired with diet changes.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/02/23 04:22 PM
8

You have a different viewpoint because you're a man. This is not true for women. Our bodies do not burn calories as efficiently as men's, even with exercise. It's all about diet for us, and it's a delicate balance between eating enough to stay full and have energy but still staying under your calorie limit. I have an under the desk treadmill and walk literally all day while I work. I get 12k-18k steps most days. I still have to count calories and meal plan to keep from gaining weight.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/02/23 03:55 PM

It's reasonable to want her to stay physically fit. It's not reasonable to want her to look like she did when you met. Bodies change, especially after kids. My fit 34-year-old self doesn't look like my fit 22-year-old self.

There are certain things you can't access without being vaccinated (like enrolling in public schools, or working in a healthcare setting -- but even latter is usually required by the employer, not the state), but nowhere in the US is being unvaccinated for anything "against the law." I agree with you that the jealousy and discomfort with it is normal. What's weird, rude and socially maladjusted IMO is to buy the gift but then stipulate how the person uses it. It would be like buying someone a gift card for a certain store but then telling them which items you don't want them to buy with it. The whole point of buying a person a gift is that it's theirs and they get to choose how to use it. If you would be uncomfortable with a potential use of that gift then just buy them some…

That's not what she's talking about. She's saying that when the baby's in utero you shouldn't expect to feel what we normally call "love" (affection, warm fuzzies). What you do feel is worry, concern and a protective instinct, which is a different kind of love, and the kind of love the baby needs at that point in its development. The more emotional bonding kind of love happens after the baby is born. This is 100% natural and normal.

She does care, otherwise she wouldn't be worried about it. She's invested in its health and well-being. She's not experiencing the oooey gooey affectionate love feelings because the baby is still inside her and what she's experiencing is more of a medical condition than parenthood. She doesn't see it as a "child" because it is quite literally not a child yet. Yeah, but in this example you don't live close to your friends and this was a rare occasion to see them. That doesn't sound like the case with OP. And not everyone has the money to spend on stuff like that. I hope these dudes are rationing sex with their wives and gfs, you'd hate to see her lose her ability to bond with them because they had too much sex :( I also wonder if they think mothers of multiple children love each subsequent child a little less until she eventually just can't love a child at all.

girls are calm and boys are dumb That's the "impulse control" part of my list. When people say boys are less mature than girls I think they usually mean they demonstrate poorer impulse control (which tbh, I think is true after a certain age, but I don't think that's the sum total of maturity). Anyway this thread is kind of going off the rails with the pedophile comment so I'm going to tap out here.

Not to touch on a forbidden topic but I wonder how much this just comes down to race genetics? If I'm not mistaken, girls of European heritage in the US tend to get their periods at 13-15 while hispanic and black girls get it a few years earlier. Boys of those latter ethnicities tend to hit puberty earlier too.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/01/23 12:29 AM

I taught 16 year olds for several years and can't say I observed that. Maybe giggly and bubbly just doesn't read as immature to me. /r/PurplePillDebate21/01/23 12:26 AM

There's not really a debate here, it's an established fact that girls start puberty on average two years before boys. Boys also tend to have one last growth spurt in their late teens-early 20s, which girls don't have. That's probably what you're observing with your old classmates. Honestly it's the mental maturity thing I find more dubious. In my experience working with teens and preteens, there's not a huge difference in maturity between boys and girls. If he's just trying to hit that's where it matters the least because if a woman is already at the point where she's alone with a naked man she'll probably just go through with it. Maybe not if it was a legit micropeen but this guy's isn't. I really don't think most women are going to put a stop to a hookup because a guy has a slightly smaller than average penis. Maybe she wouldn't want to see him again but even that's doubtful if the sex was good.

Oh I'm not saying it's the main reason, I'm just saying I think it's a factor. Whether the scarcity is legit or not, a lot the lesbians I know seem to find finding someone a lot harder then gay men do, for whatever reason. That's why I said scarcity mentality, not just scarcity. I will say though that my lesbian friends live in smaller cities or even rural communities so I'm sure that skews my perception too, living in a bigger city probably helps.

Exactly. If he had done that to a man, especially in that bar (country bar where a lot of rednecks and cowboys hang out) he 100% would have been punched.

I guess that was poor phrasing on my part. What I mean is it's probably true that women are ruder to men than other men are, but men are also ruder to women than they are to other men.

I was once seeing a band play at a bar and it was standing room only. A couple of older guys (like, 30 years older) were standing behind my friend and me and trying to talk to us. We were polite and friendly at first but eventually it got annoying so we became more terse with them and kept trying to move away from them. At one point I took out my phone to text another friend who was meeting up with us and one of the men reached over my shoulder, took my phone out of my hand and told me if I had …

The betrayal of your husband impregnating another woman lasts a lifetime too. You're only focusing on the man's side in both scenarios.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/23 05:06 AM

Both involve cheating, betrayal and giving resources to a child that isn't yours (a married man's resources are his wife's too). I don't think either one is really worse than the other, they're both pretty much the worst thing you can do to a spouse of that respective sex.

I guess C, because I have done that. My ex lived 2 hours away, we met online and the first time we met in person I drove to see him. We dated for about a year and took turns driving to each other. It was an annoying amount of distance but not untenable. I also had family where he lived so it was a drive I was used to making every so often anyway. I might do D if we met like on vacation or at a conference or something and had great chemistry and wanted to continue to see each other. But I don't t…

That's surprising to me. Maybe it's just that gay men make themselves more visible with Grindr/gay bars/festivals/etc. For whatever reason it seems like lesbians have a harder time finding each other.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/01/23 06:06 PM

Well...that's kind of the point, their lesbian friends are probably the only lesbians around. That's their entire dating pool.

I don't think I've ever seen someone say the average woman has "hundreds" of people she's close to. Comments about female social bonds tend to be more about the strength, longevity and intimate nature of those bonds, not necessarily the number of people.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/01/23 05:54 PM

I think lesbians also have more scarcity mentality because there are relatively few of them and, anecdotally, they seem to "deflect" more than gay men do (I know multiple lesbians whose partners left them for men; don't know many if any gay men in the same boat). I think when two lesbians get together it's like THANK GOD I FOUND YOU and they want to lock it down immediately even if they're not all that compatible outside of sexual orientation.

I don't know, I'm not good with numbers and I don't know how to account for future inflation. A couple hundred million? Edit: Ok I was thinking about this more and I way overshot the number lol. If I got paid 500k a year from now until I'm 90 (women in my family live at least that long) it would come out to around 30 million. So I'll say that's my price. I wouldn't take the deal unless it ensured I'd be able to pursue my passions and NEVER have to worry about money.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/01/23 05:08 PM
2

Hmm. Well at this point there's no amount of money that would make me give up my husband. But in a hypothetical world where I didn't already have a man in my life in that capacity, I think I could be convinced to do it if it was a large enough sum that I could live comfortably for the rest of my life without working. So, it would have to be a lot. And even then I'd only do it if I could still adopt or have kids somehow.

I have always been very introverted/socially anxious and was able to mitigate it and have a pretty vibrant social life in my early-mid 20s mostly thanks to copious amounts of alcohol. Then I got married, and stopped drinking, and had a baby, and the pandemic happened and atrophied what few social muscles I still had. Now I am more socially isolated than I've ever been and I wish I knew how to not be :( But hey I have lots of online friends! Lol

Gay men also tend to marry much later in life, after a much longer dating period, and gay male couples tend to be higher earning and better educated than lesbian couples. All of which correlate with lower divorce rates in hetero couples too.

I love sharing a bed, but I can understand why some couples sleep separately. Snoring, moving around, different schedules etc. can make it hard to get good sleep, and good sleep is really really important for people's health. What did you mean by "accusations are enough"? The context in which you said it implies that you meant enough to lose your job. Matt Gaetz is not an example of that, in fact he's an example that you can have accusations against you and still be popular enough to win a congressional race.

If you know they're sexually active, assuming they're doing it at a developmentally appropriate age (e.g. 16-17, not 11), I don't see how making sure they're being safe is irresponsible. Is buying a teenager a car irresponsible? Driving is statistically MUCH more dangerous than sex.

I guess the Overton window has shifted on mini skirts. When I was growing up, we would call the skirt on the right a mini skirt, but not the one on the left. The homicides people find interesting are ones that involve some added element of sadism and/or sexuality, or that are particularly gruesome or out of the ordinary. These types of crimes tend to be committed by men toward women. But when the victims are men, they get just as much coverage. John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer both had male victims and they're two of the most notorious killers with documentaries and movies still being made about them decades later.

As the mother of a son, some concerns off the top of my head: If he gets someone pregnant he's pretty much powerless in that situation More likely to engage in high risk behavior More prone to severe and dangerous mental illness such as schizophrenia or psychopathy More prone to addiction More susceptible to deaths of despair More likely to suffer congenital health problems that run in the males of my family In general and in my experience, sons are less close with their parents in adulthood tha…

Like I said, in terms of physical sensation and orgasm I prefer hands over anything, so I don't think it would change my answer. I get very little physical pleasure or sensation from PIV, it's mostly about the intimacy and psychological thrill for me. Maybe a small dick would make that more difficult too, hard to say since I've never been with one*, but either way I don't think the presence or absence of oral would make a difference for how I felt about PIV. *Before dudes start REEEEEing and cal…

I'd probably pick no oral. I like giving and receiving oral, but I think PIV is more important overall. I'm a woman but I don't usually orgasm from oral, I like it as foreplay but I usually get off from fingers. And I think PIV is best for bonding and intimacy.

I don’t really care. I thought I wanted a son until I actually got pregnant and I just knew it was going to be a girl. Haha, same but opposite. I always wanted a girl but as soon as I found out I was pregnant I just intuitively knew it was a boy. I was thinking about him as "my son" before we even found out the sex. When my uncle died last year I realized two things -- one, every woman on that side of my family going back at least four generations has had a boy first; and two, every woman on tha…

What about intense making out and grinding with clothes on? My first orgasm with a guy happened like this, no genitals were touched directly skin-to-skin but there was still enough action to get me off. I think this is why it's confusing for women because for us a heavy petting makeout session can be just as, if not more, intense than giving a blowjob. So if men are worried about her "oxytocin receptors" and "bonding ability" and all that like they claim to be, it doesn't make a lot of sense to …

I did this a lot. It wasn't for nothing in return, usually it was me giving him a BJ and him fingering me. It takes me a while to get to a point where I'm comfortable with PIV. With some guys I got there eventually, with others it was just a one-off encounter so we never reached that point.

I joked to her that, just to be safe, I should dye my hair the same day I get work done, so my husband focuses on that instead of the change in my face. A lot of celebrities actually do this. Very often a drastic change in haircut or color is to distract from a procedure (often a nose job)

I was on pelvic rest for 4.5 months of my pregnancy. This means that not only could I not have PIV sex, I couldn't do anything that felt good for me, because I was at risk for premature labor and an orgasm could trigger it. So that really really sucked for me, but I did take care of my husband in other ways. That's the only sexless period I've experienced in a relationship, other than 1-2 week pauses due to illness, travel and such.

Her car was her destination. She was there. She was probably afraid that if she tried to get in he would push her away and steal her car with the kid inside. Kid's car seats are usually on the rear passenger side so getting to the driver's seat would require walking all the way around the car. I wouldn't be comfortable doing that with the guy there either. I probably would have done what she did. Walking away works when they try to stop you on the street, but he had her cornered.

That's up to them, but yeah I'd say it's generally good advice. If someone doesn't want to get all up in your junk they're either not that attracted to you or not that sexual in general. Either way doesn't bode well for a relationship.

Your male friends are right. As the man it's your job to escalate, and as the woman her job is to give you signals and be receptive. Yes that's sexist, blah blah, that's just the way it is. If you are going out on dates but not initiating physical escalation, she perceives that as mixed signals and you not being into her. She most likely feels like you friendzoned her.

Marriage is a legal status that joins two individuals into a single household and legal/financial entity. People want to get married for a variety of legal, social and spiritual reasons (though the latter obviously doesn't apply to atheists). It gets rid of a lot of red tape surrounding things like inheritance, power of attorney etc., sometimes it gives you a tax break, and socially it legitimizes your relationship and family in the eyes of others. Marriage is a universal rite of passage through…

If they saw you initially and turned you down, that’s a strong signal in my opinion that they find you physically unattractive. I don't agree at all. But even so, a person can be unattractive in photos and attractive in person. I’m not signing up for that. If she doesn’t see me and at least think “okay”, I’m not interested. Not without her knowing because it involves drawing her blood. But you don't have to do it before the baby is born. If you're not married, you don't have to (and shouldn't) sign anything until paternity is proven with a test. If you are married, you have a window to contest paternity (I think it's around two years in most states). In either case, you can do a quick cheek swab shortly after the baby is born and send it off without ever involving the mom at all.

Well, my parents got married at 19 after 8 months of dating and their marriage was... tumultuous for many years, and I think they'd both do it differently if they had it to do over again. So they didn't necessarily tell us NOT to marry fast, they just told us to give it a lot of thought. But then there were also religious teachings against premarital sex and "living in sin" so idk, kind of mixed messages. My youngest brother and I both got married at 29. My oldest brother married later in life.

After the initial "college educated" bar has been cleared, things like where you went to college, what you majored in, family educational background, advanced degrees, amount of debt etc. start to become considerations. There's more to relationships and marriage than "pleasure." People seeking to build a life with someone, share a home and investments, have kids etc. want compatible values and lifestyles, and college education is good shorthand for a lot of those things.

People who say this are usually college educated themselves and are usually a certain type of college educated person (e.g. a first gen college grad who majored in nursing at a third rate state university probably doesn't care as much as a fifth generation Ivy League grad, to use an extreme example). Reason is that college education signals a lot of things about class, values, earning potential etc., and people want to be aligned with their partner in those areas. It's MEANT to filter out a lot …

Often as a server I would leave work with a $100 bill or two because I would trade in my cash tips at the end of the night for bigger bills, because I didn't want a bunch of ones and my manager didn't want hundreds. Then I'd hit up the bars. So yeah I was paying bar tabs with a $100 often enough. But then I guess that begs the question of where our customers got $100s 🤔

I mean I never sat down and gave him a list. We started out as drunk fuckbuddies and he's smart enough to know he wasn't the first guy I did that with. We had all the same friends and both hooked up with people in our social circle.

Ok. So we're back where we started and I don't want to go around in circles so I'll just say I disagree and leave it at that.

I'm saying it's rooted in insecurity and fear you won't be able to upgrade. This is what you said initially. You see how that's different, right?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/22 03:28 PM
3

So it's not fear that YOU won't be able to upgrade, it's fear that YOUR PARTNER will be able to upgrade?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/22 03:25 PM
2

Very. Go to a doctor immediately.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/22 03:08 PM

Then your premise doesn't make sense either. Why would people be worried about the ability to "upgrade" if they can just add additional lovers and keep the old one too?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/22 03:02 PM
6

I agree it's rooted in fear but it's not fear of not being able to upgrade. It's valuing that specific person and not wanting to lose them.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/22 02:54 PM
5

Ok, so what? Why shouldn't I fear losing something that's valuable to me? Seems like a pretty valid fear. "You only go to the doctor for cancer screenings because you fear death" Well, yeah. Should I not?

Teens-late twenties. Once people start getting married and having kids everyone has a lot less time for friends. When I was 20 I was hanging out with friends pretty much every night.

I have a couple of friends who I text nearly every day. But I only see friends in person once every couple of months. When I was younger I hung out with friends pretty much daily.

I felt nothing at all when we broke up. I went through all those emotions before the breakup. After the breakup I mostly just felt kind of rudderless because going from an LTR to single was a big change to my life and routine. I missed being in a relationship, and I mourned that for a while. But I didn't miss him, and I wasn't angry or upset with him anymore by that point. In fact, shortly after we broke up I found out that during the last few months of our relationship he had been cheating on m…

No. There are men who are objectively gorgeous who I am not personally attracted to, and men who are objectively average who I am attracted to. It's not 1:1. If you're saying that women should date men who they experience subjective attraction to despite those men not being the most objectively good-looking, then I agree, but I think women already are doing that.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/22 10:53 PM
2

I'm talking about the subjective experience of attraction, not the objective evaluation of a man's looks. In a vacuum, some of the men I've been attracted to were objectively better looking than others (taller, more symmetrical faces, etc.) But the attraction I felt for each of those men was all the same. I wasn't "somewhat attracted" to some and "very attracted" to others. It's an on/off switch, not a slider.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/22 10:45 PM

For women, no, there isn't. You're projecting male libido onto women. Men walk around with a spontaneous libido running in the background and are able to find a "minimum viable" woman who is a sufficient outlet for that libido. Women's libido is dormant until it's activated by a man they find attractive. There's no "any port in a storm" mentality. Women's libido and attraction is not gradient. We are either attracted to a guy or we're not. I genuinely can't even imagine what "somewhat attracted"…

Yeah. I think the problem is entirely overblown. I finished undergrad without any debt, and I didn't get help from my parents. I worked hard so I could get academic scholarships, and I got some need-based grant money. I also did two years at a community college, worked 30 hours a week, lived off campus with roommates, didn't go to a prestigious school etc. I did not have the glamorous "college experience" that a lot of kids want, but I graduated without debt. I took out some loans for grad schoo…

That's not how women's attraction works. There's no "somewhat attracted," there's just attracted or not.

When people say this it's because they themselves are on this sub because they're sexually/romantically unsuccessful and are here to lament their status, get dating advice and/or air their grievances with the opposite sex, and they can't imagine someone being interested in the subject matter for its own sake. The quality of discussion on this sub was much higher when there were more of the latter type of person here and less of the former.

Do you realize that if the option to reproduce can be done without women, most of the high value men all women go for would just entertain a few girls, fuck a few others for cash, and whenever they want, get a kid out of nothing... Why aren't wealthy men currently just using egg donors and surrogates to be single dads?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/12/22 03:18 PM

I think it's mostly a pipe dream, but to the extent that it's not, I think it will almost entirely be used by couples where the woman can't carry the pregnancy to term or to finish gestation when the baby is born prematurely (I'm most excited about the latter possibility -- this technology could save tons of wanted babies). Aside from that it will be just like surrogacy, only affordable to the super rich. It won't have much impact on regular people.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/12/22 03:16 PM

That's not really the philosophy behind abortion rights, though. If it was about a right to not be "forced to breed" then men would get an equal say. It's about a right to terminate a pregnancy. With artificial wombs you could terminate the pregnancy but gestate the fetus separately from the woman.

Yeah the joint pain really sucked, made it hard to sleep for a couple of nights. We were similar but opposite lol. We went to a 4th of July party and a couple days later a friend who was there came down with it and warned us. A day after that my husband came down with it. I was walking around feeling pretty smug about not catching it but then it got me a couple days later. My friend and husband both tested positive but I never did. But since I knew that's what it was I stayed home for 10 days.

Omg the joint pain was THE WORST. I really didn't get all that sick from covid, my main symptoms were fever that made me freeze to death (I remember sitting on the back porch in Texas in July and shivering) and joint pain. The weird thing is how it came in waves, and it started in my feet. I would be feeling fine then suddenly my toes would start to hurt and gradually it spread to all my joints, then it would go away after an hour or two. Super strange.

It is extremely hard to make it as a model or an influencer, even if you're pretty. And it's often more work than a minimum wage job.

I liked working these jobs in high school and college. I got to be active, work through my social anxiety and make friends. Plus I, you know, needed money to pay for stuff. Not everyone has a rich family or is cut out for sex work. And I certainly would have hated to miss out on an opportunity for real connection and love because I was with some "Patreon boyfriend" I was financially dependent on.

I have a son and he is not circumcised. My husband is also not circumcised. Hypothetically if I were married to someone who wanted it I would probably defer to him, but I'm glad I married someone who was aligned on this issue. I've been with circumcised and uncircumcised men and they're pretty much the same when they're hard. I don't really have a preference either way.

I think cheating is a shitty action but I think that otherwise good people can have a lapse in judgment and do shitty things. That's why I believe the best strategy is to eliminate the opportunity for those lapses in judgment to occur.

I've been with my husband for ten years and never cheated on him or anyone before him. I don't believe that I ever would. But I still see no reason to put myself in a position where temptation could arise or where my partner could doubt my loyalty. It's easy to say "Well if chemistry develops I'll just distance myself," much harder to do in practice. Much easier to just not give it a chance to develop in the first place. I've been cheated on once that I know of, and it was with a female friend o…

It's not about trusting or not trusting any one person. It's about understanding human nature in general. I hold myself to the same standard. I'd rather protect my relationship than test my partner in this way and hope they pass. And just because they haven't cheated with this person yet doesn't mean it won't happen in the future. People can have friends of the opposite sex. Just hang out in groups.

Give your partner the freedom of choice. If they are going to cheat they will cheat, irrespective of any rules. This is what I disagree with. I don't believe that most cheaters intentionally set out to cheat. I think they spend time with someone of the opposite sex, platonically at first, and feelings develop and boundaries get crossed gradually over time.
