The law is really meaningless. Sexual orientation wasn't a protected class in Indiana even before this law was passed. Any muslim or christian who didn't want to perform services for a gay wedding would have already been able to legally refuse without this law. And its just gotten even worse because another man has come forward and said the same thing happened to him in the same county. Another anal probing on someone over a traffic stop, and neither of them even had a speck of drugs. Even if they did it wouldn't make it better. It's one thing to do cavity searches on prisoners, but there's never a case where a cavity search of a free citizen is worth it to look for drugs.

In my opinion the police officers and and whe ever approved the search warrant should be arrested. The doctors should be fired, but they at least have the defense that they were complying with a court order. I'm a compassionate person so I don't think we should lock them up forever, but they should do at least a year or two in prison for this. Unfortunately I know they never will, so I at least pray they are all fired.

I've never heard a story of cavity searches on an innocent person taken this far. I could be mistaken, but I'm guessing the reason for this discrepancy is the physicals women get from their primary care doctor don't include the things they have to get done from an OBGYN each year. When I get a physical from my primary care doctor they check my testicles and prostate, but I don't think regular physicals include vaginal exams and pap smears for women. The way the law is written the fine for not getting insurance is not enforceable. Normally the IRS can come after you and literally put you in jail for not paying taxes, but this law specifically states that no criminal punishment can ever come from not paying the fine for not buying insurance.
