Unconscious biases created by gender stereotypes only hurt us as humans in general. It's also one of the reasons I decided to go into social work as a dude (a decision I made knowing I wouldn't be payed nearly as well as someone who worked in finance or engineering). They said something along the lines of "I'd rather be a victim of rape living in fear everyday, than be part of the despicable group of people who stand up to their attackers" I don't know if they were drunk when they commented that.. but way to diminish the devastating effect sexual assault can have on both male and female victims.
