One of the most interesting relationship-related books I've read is The Science of Happily Ever After. It's not a "RP" book; it's just a wonderful, statistically rooted book about building and sustaining marriages. Lots of helpful information and really interesting research that frequently confirms RP ideas.

"Yielding" is one of my favorite words, too -- I think yielding to a man is embracing an important part of the feminine nature. Gender aside, the Tao Te Ching has some wonderful passages on yielding that I try to remember: "The wise shine without putting on a display. Therefore the ancients say, 'Yield and overcome.' Be really whole, and all things will come to you." Chapter 22 "Knowing how to yield is strength. Use your own light to return to the source of light. This is called practicing etern…

Yay! And, if he is capable of being a good man, seeing you juggling working and the baby will kick his brain into action. That is a natural and healthy response. :) Sometimes you need to find creative ways to support and encourage each other, but I know you can do it.

You're going to have to tell him that this is an emergency situation. At this point, if he cannot find work that accommodates his school schedule, he needs to put that on pause - or maybe do 1 class per semester - in order to go into overdrive "employment-finding mode." Either way, right now, and you can say this to him, he is in the habit of unproductive -- actually, destructive -- behavior. The only way to get out of this is to break the habit. And it might be you who has to do this with him. …

I like the close-to-the-date reminder for sure. NYC people only think about 36 hours ahead anyway

I'm not a guy, but I lived in NYC for 4 years, and I think it may be a slightly special case -- both plating and flaking are the absolute norm in NYC, and if you didn't seem engaged, he might just think you're a flake. From experience, it is also very easy to forget when/if someone will be in town. That said, I agree that the most you should do is something very vague, basic, and authentic like "hey :)". Never pursue it further if they drop off after a reminder -- and depending on how raunchy th…

Oooooooh boy. Our mutual affectionate name-calling started with him calling me "goober." Now, we have "spoogus," "goofus," "goofball" and "goobus" (all unisex). For him, there's "Emperor," "King," "honeybunch" and "sweetie." And me? I'm the queen, the princess, the baby... and, because I'm a math person, he likes to rub my head and call me a graphing calculator. >.<

All things to consider, and you lay it out well. Of course, you could always have an asset contract that is not a marriage contract; that part is somewhat easier than the other aspects IMO. My SO and I are "lapsed" poly people who are starting to realize these problems, and we're pretty doubtful that we'll ever go back. I do know a handful of long-term triads that seem to work, but for the most part, it does seem like something that people tend to "grow out of," on one level or another. As you s…

Hi again, /u/sacchariferous -- After a few days, I came up with a couple more things you might want to think about (usually, when I construct a survey, I write down every question I can possibly think of and then eliminate some from the 1st draft). More open-ended Qs that could be interesting: Does RP affect the way you behave around other people, outside your romantic relationship? What are your priorities in choosing/staying with a man? Have these changed since becoming RP? Non-open-ended: (Fo…

Well put, thanks for your thoughts. I was curious about whether you guys would feel that there might be benefits to building a committed family/LTR with more than two people. But I see what you mean. From my end of things, the idea is that the women in the triad would also give to each other, whether they're sexually involved or not. The family would have a different dynamic, but I feel that I could feel very comfortable -- even happier -- in a household where resources and tasks are split three…

Mmm. I see where you are coming from, and of course, it would be up to the individual. In my view, I think there can be many benefits to having a family that's committed (don't get me wrong -- nobody can just go off and have sex with anyone outside the agreed-upon triad) though not traditionally monogamous. To me, it doesn't have to feel like a compromise or a sacrifice as it is a different balance of love between three people. I've never been wired to feel jealous of other women; I'm much more …

Your point made me re-check my statistics -- so, I found that the median age for men to marry has changed since the 90s (when it was 26). Now, it's a little under 29. What that means is that more than half of the men who will ever marry have already married by age 30. There's some wiggle-room there, since the statistic is a little bit outdated by design (and it's probable that millennial men are more likely to delay marriage until they're financially secure, since they lived through the recessio…

Oooh I see what you mean -- global regions. I thought you meant smaller regions within countries.

Spot on, and really well said. This information was very ahead of its time. Women think they have a lot of time, but in fact, men are less likely to marry after age 26 than before. Women think men will change to become the type of men they think they want, but that path is an illusion that almost always leads to unhappiness and un-fulfillment for both.

If you have the money and can really wear these fragrances (instead of letting them wear you!), Creed makes great ones that I think last longer than other bottles. I've been using Love in White -- it has a cool story, too, since it's the perfume that they send as a gift to the First Lady every 4 years. :)

I agree -- I'm not too familiar with geography abroad, so I wouldn't know what regions to list. :)

Awesome idea! I'm a statistician who deals with a lot of social research. Here are my suggestions. Demographics (in this category, the factors that may be correlated with the likelihood of a woman becoming redpill are of interest to me): Within the US, there are major cultural differences based on the region -- I think asking those from the USA to sort themselves into "west coast/east coast/northeast/midwest/south" would be interesting. Also within the US, family demographics (e.g., are your par…
