More exactly, the Stoics believedin compatibilism, essentially the idea that free will exists in a deterministic world. I believe one of the examples they use was a cylinder rolling down a hill, where the object rolls down the hill, yet its form determines its path. Another example might be the oft-repeated analogy of being pulled by horses (dogs?)- one can resist all they want, they are still along for the ride- better to become settled in, than to be dragged kicking and screaming.

I watched this, expecting Piers to be dumb, and the women to make one or two good points bundled with nonsense. Man, was I wrong. I thought Piers was arrogant ever since the Ben Shapiro thing, but he was arrogant, mean, infantile, and foolish here. "Oh, you're a dick, and I just mean your name, but really you're an asshole...". I would have snapped. Absolutely. No one talks to me like that without consequences. Also, dude could have slept with all of 'em.

I do not believe that negative visualization ends at the bad thing occurring, rather, it is a process through ehich people go through accepting the various bad things which could happen and determining how they might move through them. Edit: a word.

Jew here, wanted to chime in. First RP truth from the Torah: Genesis 2:18 "And the LORD God said: 'It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help-meet for him.'" The words for "help-meet" in Hebrew actually mean "a helper opposite/against him". The rabbis comment: "If he is worthy, she will be a helpmate. If he is not worthy, she will be against him, to fight him."
