You'd have to be really scared though since most protective custody pods are treated like the box. So instead of being able to go to the yard anytime you want, shower whenever you want, play games and sports, watch TV etc. They opt to take 23 and 1. 23 hours a day in your cell and 1 hour of rec. No showers until the COs decide it's time. Some places that could be once a week. You eat all your meals in your cell and the amount of things you can have is extremely limited.
