I've been waiting for someone to post about this for a while. It's driving me nuts. How can no one see that if the genders were reversed in this incident, no one would bat an eye? It seems that everyone involved in this story is trying to shoehorn women's rights for absolutely no reason. Let's not even discuss the comparison of this incident to Afghanistan.

The race card is just played so the MRM doesn't centralize. They want us to be divided and weak. That's the entire reason they claim that men don't suffer from gender discrimination but race, status and other forms of discrimination. However, even if these were true, I don't see the downside of having another movement striving for equality. I believe we are more than willing to work with Feminists if they'd only let us.

They only mentioned one specifically and it was the Men's Rights group at the University. Most of the discussion was based on people's experience with MRAs on the internet.

There was a pretty even mixture of men and women. And the same with ethnicities. There were a few white people, black people and brown people. Honestly, I can't be very specific here because I just don't know. I know that 2 or 3 girls were from the Middle East.

One person made a statement lumping the MRM in with the White Right's Movement. I honestly don't know why they keep bringing race into this. It seems as if they are just trying to split our base and divide us between arbitrary characteristics.

It was mostly about why the MRM is unnecessary, but two people actually wanted to discuss male issues. One found it telling how halfway through the meeting masculinity still was not being discussed. The other brought up issues our boys are facing, but then the oppression Olympics started and that point went no where.

The only ones mentioned were sexual assaults, domestic violence and ADHD diagnoses. I actually came prepared with statistics to back my arguments, but as soon as they said we cherry pick them, I realized they would have accused me of the same thing.

My main goal was to just show up in the first place. I had to jump through hoops to even make the meeting. When I got there I wanted them to at least begin the discussion so I could learned exactly what they thought about the MRM. I did not want to make any assumptions and come across as belligerent. The entire meeting was a front to shut down men's voices. I pointed this out to someone after the meeting as well. MRM welcomes women's voices and their support. How are we supposed to work together with feminists if they continue to claim we're "unnecessary" and "violent."

Honestly, if you told me about the MRM when I was a teen I wouldn't have believed it. I was so entrenched in feminist beliefs that it's disturbing to think back. I most likely has to do with how high-schools teach gender issues and by teach I mean lie.

This is York University we're talking about (yes, I can hold a fork, leave me alone). A few weeks back people were discussing how to make women studies courses mandatory for everyone here because of the sexual assaults happening on campus. Also, I don't know how this meeting will go down. The club is about socialism not gender. This just may be a one-off. I see no need to destroy a club for one person's folly.

Last time I checked, girls were capable of being bullies as much as boys. A while back I read some information claiming that male bullies tended to be physical while female bullies tends to be more psychological. Obviously, these aren't hard and fast lines, but may go to show why people don't associate girls with bullying. No one actually witnesses them engaging in the act.

I understand that feeling of helplessness. Similar thing happened to me in second grade. Girl attacked me. I didn't want it to escalate so I kept silent. She told the teacher that I attacked her. I got punished. Two week later her parents threatened to call the cops on me if I ever touched their daughter again. I was 7.
