Sounds like a dating relationship. Haha

This is really hard to read. I do hope you find someone you can talk to. You finally posted it on the internet in an anonymous fashion so it seems like maybe you are ready to face the trauma? If you feel you need to talk to someone, some crisis hotlines might be good because they are also anonymous and free. Just be careful which one you pick so as to avoid people who won't take you seriously

I suppose it is easy to see one's self as the victim. That is why there are always two sides to every story.

This is terrifying actually. I don't know what caused your wife to change so suddenly, but this situation never should have happened. I'm glad you at least got the charges dropped and hope you can fix your financial situation. This also demonstrates that MR is about equality. Everyone should simply be treated equal with the same standards.

I will agree with you when you tell me where I can find a standardized nanny salary.

It all varies.

That is a product, not a service. But for your example, I can buy birth control priced based on my income :) that's an example.

Curious, say a couple has 3 kids and their pre-school ages span 8 years(such that the stay at home parent can care for them up to 5 years old/kindergarten age. Do you think this would be any less detrimental to hire-ability than being a stay at home parent through grade school (about 15 years). Basically, would those few extra years make a difference or is the damage already done staying home the pre-school years.

The cost of a nanny also varies on your income. As a childcare provider, I charge more for wealthier families and give breaks to poorer families because I know they can't afford it. my hourly wage would be seen as outrageously high in some places and obscenely low in others, for the same job. I know very little about alimony, but I do agree that it should only be the cosy of employing a full time nanny.

Because caring for children is not a vacation. If it were, why are childcare costs so high?

I think the question needs to be WHY? That is the only way to fix these discrepancies.

How likely does she think it is that a kidnapper would take his prey to an amusement park? Lady must have been nuts.

All I can say is sorry. she's a disgrace not only to women, but to humanity. nobody should be so selfish. Question: were there any warning signs when you were with her? just as a caution for other redditors.

Yes but getting into the reasons for this is a deeper discussion than this thread called for.

The assumption us that the "business venture" will fail. If you anticipate the marriage failing, this totally makes sense.

Well, mr. unicorn, I have no advice but I do want to commend you as I think you took the best possible course of action in that situation. Glad you removed her instead of putting up with it.

Ok well minus the "treat me like an asshole later" part. But I do apreciate the feedback because I have no clue how to turn down a guy I'm not interested in.

It's not mind reading, its getting the hint. Granted, the woman in question should have been straight forward with a "no" but we don't know who the OP of the question was. If this person is socially awkward or doesn't take rejection well, she may have not wanted to hurt his feelings. Just speaking from experience. It's really hard for some people to say no to someone's face.

When the laws turn accidental pregnancy into a lifelong commitment, people do what they have to. Where I live, the father of an unborn child can stop the mother from giving her baby up for adoption without assuming full custody. I guess the point is that most people (by this I mean lawmakers) think both parents should have equal responsibility for the child. child support is calculated based on many case-by-case factors to try to even put the responsibility between both parents. This doesn't alw…

I am starting to think that cutting the foreskin is like cutting the hymen. It's a piece of skin so yes, it has nerve endings and yes, removal would require surgery. But it's not particularly fantastic or pleasurable or even necessary. And also, removal of it is not particularly necessary. But hey, this is just my own theory with no backing.

I read all your points and I have seen the opposites used by anti circumcision activists. I have not read the literature first hand but feel pretty conflicted when one person says emotional harm is caused to the infant and someone else says that isn't the case. Do you have sources? I want to know where everyone is getting their facts.

"For fourty years schools have done everything to cater to every girls whim in school and treated boys like fifth class dirt." I think this might be to make up for all the years that women were treated like dirt. My analogy is this: Its like driving a car and you notice you are swerving left. Then you overcorrect, going too far right and you lose control and crash. Women used to be oppressed. Now we are overcorrecting for that and I hope we don't lose control and crash soon, if that isn't happen…

Some of my favorite teachers were men. The women often ended up being witchy. I wonder if this has something to do with thinking of men as authority figures and thus being okay with them laying down the rules whereas women were seen as pushovers and not feeling like they have the authority to tell kids what to do. Or maybe these views are just based on my own family. also: Males did not change, society did. FTFY

I think this has something to do with curriculum. We had to read certain district-required books like "anthem" and "of mice and men" along with some Shakespeare(actually interesting).

a quote from the article(near the bottom): "More than 90 percent of Japanese couples were reported as wanting girls, as most said they already had at least two boys."

I do appreciate your math, no matter what she was sentenced to, it does not make up for the fact that she screwed up some young boys lives and she will probably re-offend when she is released.

I agree that it is best to explore "HOW" rather than simply "WHAT" causes these inequalities. I also think that the attitude of teachers thinking that boys are bad contributes to this. I have a little brother who has a hearing problem. He was distracted in class and for this reason, the teacher labeled him as a "bad" kid when, in reality, there was an underlying issue that she didn't bother to address. These assumptions perpetuate the kid to misbehave. It really is a whole culture of female supr…

To be honest, I don't think girls want to read about the dust bowl or other crap like that either. All kids like adventure. I read the "box car children" series. Twas awesome.

/r/MensRights17/07/12 07:01 PM

exactly! it would be just as dumb if it were the other way around: like if you say (hypothetically) "men fight at bars when they get drunk, so no drunk men are allowed at bars." BS, you need to fix the mentality that allows these crimes to be perpetrated, not simply get rid of potential victims.

Near my college, there has been quite a string of thefts. The perpetrator? a woman and a couple of men. It goes both ways. EQUALITY applies to all sexes, all ages, all races, all religions, not just some.

and women have a game genie that lets them jump ahead to whatever level they want(often achieved by false-rape accusations)
/r/MensRights17/07/12 06:48 PM

True, but the analogy is not accurate unless the ten year old is asking for a circumcision and the parent consents at that point. circumcision happens whether the child wants it or not; only the parent has to consent.
/r/MensRights17/07/12 06:45 PM

It says that 90% want girls because they said they already had at least 2 boys. Not quite as unethical..
/r/MensRights17/07/12 06:40 PM

please ask those people what is the logic behind this?
/r/MensRights17/07/12 06:36 PM

having an aesthetic preference doesn't mean you are intentionally promoting something unethical.
/r/MensRights17/07/12 06:33 PM

No because the child has to consent to the tattoo as well, as it should be in circumcision.

it says "Clifton pleaded guilty to 15 of the 53 counts, seven of which were for rape, specifically oral sex."
/r/MensRights17/07/12 06:17 PM
2

actually it says "Clifton pleaded guilty to 15 of the 53 counts, seven of which were for rape, specifically oral sex." I can't tell if this means 7 of the 15 she pleaded guilty to were rape or 7 of the 53 charges she is facing. not that this is any better, but its really only 7 counts of rape. That said, that is one fourth of what Sandusky is dealing with so she should get somewhere around one fourth of his sentence and then some for her other crimes of providing alcohol to minors and such.
/r/MensRights17/07/12 06:17 PM

yeah but a lot of women don't report rape either so that bit of people who don't report it may balance out the statistics.

Apparently a lot of men do not know whether they are circumcised or not, until a partner points it out. On that note, education is key. Thank you for educating people about this.
