Heck, I'm not autistic and I'm struggling with work. Job market is just bad right now, sadly.

Huh. Might be an issue with Reddit. Normally I go to user profile to block, but on new Reddit you can also block from your user preferences. I was able to block it just now, so Reddit might have hiccuped or something.

This is particularly common and difficult for autistic people, who may struggle to adequately convey the fact that some seemingly innocuous situation like being in a noisy shop is distressing for them. Yeah, I feel the same way as autistic people, due to a trait. I remember when I worked in an open office, my boss didn't seem as bothered by the noise. And it's difficult to explain to normal people how distressing it is. The closest analogy I can think of is someone constantly banging something o…

I would say to me it's something I probably don't care to see, although not on the level of a huge vein with pseudoaneurysms (don't image search av fistula as the images can be graphic). But I think it's not hard to find people who find it distressing. But I would agree on the part regarding autistic people and noise, because I feel the exact same way about noise, due to another condition.

It's a few judges on the Supreme Court who overturned Roe v. Wade. It's not the actions of everyday men. Heck, we don't even directly vote for Supreme Court judges. They're nominated by our representatives.

We are going with the mods censor different viewpoints that aren't "good enough" for them. If they don't censor something, then it's "good enough" for them. In any case, I don't want a mod deciding whether a different viewpoint is good enough to show up as a comment. Basically the thing you're pointing out is the whole stupidity of the whole situation. Generally you won't know your comment is removed unless you've gone so far as to piss a mod off and they respond to your removed comment. This, s…

Basically the percentage of men to women in tech is like 70% to 30% so companies look to hire women. I think I prefer watching documentaries like American Greed and I (Almost) Got Away With It and Murder for Hire because they're not that biased. Like a female criminal is still a criminal. That being said, it does show some biases in the system. For example, Seul Ki Yum only served 1 month in prison despite extorting men for money for 3 years. Men and women make different choices, we shouldn’t be limiting peoples ability to choose because of their sex which is precisely what quotas do. Yeah, I'm a firm believer in equality of opportunity versus equality of outcome.

It may be hypocrisy, but I remember one of my high school teachers saying something like "self-love is best form of love". Given how everything is stacked against men and neither the pill nor condoms is 100% (my high school psychology teacher is someone who was born with both pills and condoms) and women often don't want to get abortions for selfish reasons, I'd argue abstinence is the only safe route. EDIT: Forgot about vasectomies being an option too.

I'm slightly - what's the word - bemused by the fact that the author of that piece spends several paragraphs describing the double standards held by at least some women, but doesn't use the term until she's describing double standards held by at least some men. If girls saw more boys crying openly, they would be more conditioned to accept it as normal. Even so, the reality is that growing up as a boy, accustomed to actively expressing emotions, will face problems. Girls will like him less, friends will be skeptical of him, he will have less chances to achieve leadership positions. (Because which of us wants a weak leader?) This is definitely true. Women wanting men for their money is similar to men wanting women for their looks.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/12/21 09:16 PM

Yeah, I'd say it's sort of a catch 22. From a young age, men are told that boys don't cry and are punished for showing emotion, so men learn the safer way is to not show emotion. And thus as OP said, women grow up seeing men not show emotion so they then think men have easy lives. And that probably reinforces women punishing men for showing emotion as it's not "normal".

I get that a few men who fight for men’s rights might be extreme and disregard women, but isn’t it the same for feminists? It is, but they won't really admit it, or they'll handwave it and say the few men are worse. One thing is that generally subs for men won't ban you just because they disagree (usually it's just downvoting), but feminist subs will ban you just because they disagree with what you're saying.

I've mostly played visual novels and I think those stories do appeal, especially ones with a generic protagonist where you can put yourself in their shoes (I'm thinking of Mark Hamill since he was cast for that reason). A visual novel is an audiobook with graphics and subtitles, often in the style of choose your own adventure. It might be a fake story, but it's not all that different from suspending your disbelief when watching a good TV show. Here's an example: https://youtu.be/pMSjw3rHrWE That…

The issue with Removeddit and Reveddit is that they rely on Pushshift and even for Pushshift, Reddit has a massive amount of data in the form of comments and posts being posted everyday, and Pushshift can't always keep up. It seems to me that this "aversion to being open to romantic advances" lies in a place that's a little more than just the "inconvenience to attention" that gets commonly cites. It almost seems like it's artificially created scarcity so that what you're "selling" is worth more when you do decide to sell it. Honestly, I feel like that might be part of it. It reminds me of houses and NIMBYism. Homeowners fight housing development because it will devalue their investment. Having less housing artifi…

/u/WeaknessTechnical654 , this is what we want. We want paper abortions, basically saying hey you can have the baby if you want, or get an abortion if you want, but if you choose to have it, we're not on the hook for child support or anything.

And he himself has said that he loves his sister and his mom, so I'm pretty sure he doesn't think women are evil, just that a long-term relationship isn't worth it. I don't mean this harshly, but then you should say that. Like when you say someone is mentally ill like that, you're trying to diagnose them, which is albeist. Ableism is the discrimination of and social prejudice against people with disabilities based on the belief that typical abilities are superior. At its heart, ableism is rooted in the assumption that disabled people require ‘fixing’ and defines people by their disability. I wanted to link this as well: https://www.pennmedicine.org/news/new…

It certainly does appear that on average, women are less interested in that sort of thing (that is, IT, engineering, the hard sciences, maybe pure math). That is to say, pick a random person of the male population and a random person of the female population and I would expect the male person to be more interested in these male-dominated fields. Giving preferential treatment to women, who by any reasonable measure are advantaged, is really quite a punch in the face. I don't get what your point about bringing up men being stronger? This dynamic tends to exist in many animal populations, and many of them act more on instinct. If we look at parrots, male parrots aren't that much stronger or scarier than female parrots, as female parrots can fend off male parrots. So you're correct it's probably not entirely socially constructed, but I think you're wrong about the reasons.

My advice is to try to look for a male therapist. Given how male psychologists are often treated, they'd have to do some mental gymnastics to not realize how men are treated differently. That being said, it's not 100% certain that a male therapist won't have the biases you're concerned about, but I'd argued it's more likely for a female therapist to have one. The main thing that annoys me is that women will take certain things to mean their problems aren't important when no one was talking about women in the first place. And the other thing is people will always use the top 10% as if it's some representation for the whole population. Women are "naturally empathetic" Yeah, I'm not really sure about that. I think it's similar to intelligence, in that both men and women have varying levels of intelligence. I'd wager there are certain genetic traits that affect things like intelligence and empathy.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/04/21 01:34 AM

You may be right, but I also think it's more difficult for a woman to empathize with a man. A man understands how a man is treated in today's society. Like both ways, living as a man previously being a woman, and vice versa, is shocking. So a female therapist would be looking at things from a woman's perspective. I generally try to avoid talking too much politics with my therapist anyways, but I feel like because he is a man, he is able to empathize with my thoughts.

Reminds me of Doctor Who. It's funny because there are shows with female protagonists (like Charmed) with actual good writing. The other interesting thing is that the writers for that show were men lol.

The thing about circumcision is we may not even know about it. That's our "normal". Lips are pretty obvious because you see everyone else's faces. I guess I don't see any point in getting riled up about it when it's already happened to me. It's done. I just see issues like getting abuse and homeless shelters for men more of a priority.

Why are so many MRAs FOR it though? Scientifically speaking, I think it's better that I was circumcised, in terms of bacteria and whatnot, because you have to clean it. I mean, I haven't found any negative effects from it in my life? If shaming occurs, I haven't experienced it personally. Not saying it doesn't exist of course, but I feel like shaming would only occur if they somehow knew you were circumsed. How you worded your second point makes me believe that the divide is becoming bigger. “Most feminists” I don’t believe that for a second a lot a lot of people call themselves feminists but hold more normal views. This sub just propagates a picture and more exposure to feminist extremes makes people skewed with what is the norm. It might be important to do an experiment. My problem arises when I see an us vs them mentality on this sub. Specifically us vs feminism. Personally it feels like there is no point engaging in a sub solely focused on one demographics issues. I’m pretty positive there are organizations that campaign for both demographics. I just see this as another example of division rather than an equal embrace. Yeah. https://www.reddit.com/r/changemyview/comments/cb0v65/cmv_in_heterosexual_relationships_the_problem/etcv3xa/?user_id=31331551 Literally nobody cares if we're sad, depressed, feeling hopeless, defeated, anxious, confused, uncertain, unsure of ourselves, and so forth unless it affects them, in which case it's usually a problem for them.

Marriage is a business contract and needs to be treated like one. That's why prenups are so important. I remember my 9th grade history teacher stated this very fact. Marriage is a business contract. Like you can have marriage without love (arranged marriage), and you can have love without marriage. Mainly because you're probably going to do it anyway. Men are saps when it comes to love. I think moreso than women -- the gender stereotype here is 100% backwards from reality. I don't want to link t…

I’m just frustrated that guys can be so thirsty and leave every other guy with absolutely nothing I suppose the question is why do you want that? Why do you want marriage? Due to a medical condition, I live with my Dad and his wife for the time being until I get it fixed in one way or another. And I see sometimes they get into fights and whatnot. And they don't have sex. My dad just watches porn a lot. It's been a habit of his for quite a long time. So I'm not really sure what's the point of bei…

Your analogy falls flat for me because real world (religious/spiritual) monks exist and thrive every day. I don't think he said it's impossible at all and I think he also said something along the lines that if abstaining completely works for you, then more power to you. But the majority of the population will not become religious monks. Just like many Americans are overweight. Like I'm a proponent of Buddhism. But Buddhism and meditation aren't magic pills. Tinder lets a majority of a girl get exposed to countless guys they'll never be able to hang onto, and then nobody will ever measure up to that lifestyle in their future. The point is the woman won't settle for anything less than a 10/10 (celebrity perhaps) or something. That's why it's "only" 8/10 to the woman. Basically seeing the glass as half-empty rather than half-full.

These days, women encourage a 'boss' mindset, to ignore men for a while and focus on their own self-worth. It's really interesting when a woman finds you attractive yet focuses on her own career and it's like okay why should I commit then. But akihonj pretty much said it. Despite earning equal or more money than men, women still want men to make more. So that limits their pool by a lot.

The first time you challenge a woman’s perception of herself a sinkhole opens in their fragile souls that they almost never manage to climb out of. Yeah, my perception is that women assume that men can't reject women, so if you show them that you can, it shatters their worldview. I think somewhere deep down they might be cognizant of the possibility considering they don't approach men, because you know, it hurts to be rejected. In my opinion, feminists only like you if you share their opinions. They don't like it when you bring in a different opinion, even if you're right. It is sad, but this is what we are fighting against. Yeah, I feel like society might be different if women actually had to pay for the consequences of their decisions. But currently the taxpayer pays for it with welfare and whatnot.

fascinating that women will shame men for being "afraid of committment" etc for not wanting to get married when it is quite literally the riskiest decision a man can make in his life this isnt a tuna on toast vs tuna on rye decision. the consequence for making a bad marriage decision is wholesale catastrophe - financially, emotionally, spiritually, etc further, once that marriage license is issued, the man abdicates any ability to forestall or even mitigate said consequences Yeah, um, super hard…

Either way...why the fuck does she expect men she meets at work to ask her out in the wake of the #metoo movement? Exactly this. While it would be nice in theory to be able to date your co-workers, men have been getting the message that the workplace is a very bad place to date due to #metoo.

They can’t pair bond, they are emotionally unstable and crazy from being used by so many people. I still have hope that I'll find someone that can pair bond, even as jaded and cynical as I am. But I agree with everything you said in your OP. Most women today are trash. I'm kind of jealous of my manager in one sense because I mean he does have a loving wife. But he's also way older than me so that probably affects things too.

Some don't have the balls. A lot of them don't have the heart. Most men don't think of women as disposable like how it works in the opposite direction. Yeah, sometimes being too emphathetic and caring can be a downside. But you're right. I definitely don't have the heart. I don't see women as disposable (however true that may be), as they're human beings just like us.

Yeah. I think both sides sort of lose when it comes to hookup culture because I think both sides have sort of given up on meaningful relationships. Like I can't really fault the guys who go out there and just try to have as much sex as they want, because like there's no alternative. That's not my thing, but I understand their perspective. The alternative would normally be having a committed relationship, but that seems to be getting pretty rare in our society.

Hi WAATGM, I don't really understand much of this argument probably because I'm a girl. The way she writes about herself and her last relationships is kind of hypocritical and I don't like that she was over excited about this hookup with her flatmate. But other than this, I'm struggling to understand why men had issue with her behaviour. Like the other guy said, Men don't like lying women. The girl is selling herself as a relationship girl while she was she too quick to jump into bed with a tota…

Many men see this behavior or even have personal experience with it and begin to think that women are evil creatures that only live to make their lifes harder. And I think that this is not the case. Yeah, I don't think they do it on purpose. It's just kind of frustrating because in my opinion you should be faithful to someone rather than branching off from person to person. With the new advances in new technology and social media, we also created an open market for attention, dating, sex and so …

Other people act in their own self interest. Sometimes this conflicts with your (short term or long term) self interest. Usually, this doesn't mean they're out to get you. They're just acting in their own self interest. I know that when a certain girl chose someone else, she was just acting in her best interest and that she wasn't out to get me or anything. But I think the whole point of being a human being versus an animal is that we have the ability to delay instant gratification and put our d…

You hit the nail on the head. But now, at the same time, men are slowly starting to see that this isn't a game worth participating in any longer. Society reached the point where we (men) are seen as stupid and uncontrollable savages that "ain't shit" and are only valued if (and as long as) we bring certain things to the table. Im also almost certain that the whole #metoo thing and the rise of mostly unpunished rape- and assault allegations, just to destroy lifes and gain money, played a big part…

It does not matter it was the mom who fucked up. The kid will, inevitably, have to face the consequences for her fuckup. This is what people do not realize about poor parenting. I 100% agree with this. I am the product of a single mother. My situation is a bit unique as my father is still alive and I could go visit him right now if I wanted to, but I don't really want to. Basically my dad had come back from an affair in New York, and that's really how I was born. My older brother was planned. I …

My favorite comment from her: A lot of these comments are making sex sound like a vending machine where if someone does enough nice things, they're entitled to it. I never fell for it, but the fact that it was so common tells me there are a so many desperate dudes out there that fall for this scam that it's become a trend among young women. On one hand, I can sympathize with needing money. My dad once told me this: Everything costs money. He had his faults but I think he was truly being honest when he said that. On the other hand, I feel like this shouldn't even be a thing in the sense that there are too many desperate guys just giving girls money.

Women in general are going to discover that as a long term side-effect of #metoo, men will no longer consider work colleagues as dating/marriage material any more, they will seek different locals to find women for that sort of thing, assuming he doesn't become full-on MGTOW. Yep. Women are soon going to find out that because of #metoo, men are going to look elsewhere for relationships.

Our ancestors knew this. This is why marriages were arranged. Because young people lack judgment, understanding, and wisdom. Their hormones get in the way of decisionmaking. Even assuming the kids experience LUUV, that feeling goes away after mating occurs. Marriage exists to build a civilization, not satisfy fee fees. I mean, if you think about it, a marriage is a legal contract between a man and a woman.

You got an art degree and you don't really have any hobbies except "Netflix and chill" and you're old and overweight. You haven't explained why you would make a good partner yet you for some reason you feel you deserve a man with a good income. That's not how this works. That's not how this works at all. I happen to be a software developer who works at one of the investment banking firms in NYC making 6 figures. I'm going to give you some hard honest truth. The other poster is right. You don't have much value. Like why would I pick you? Not only am I making good money, but I happen to be fairly physically attractive as well, thanks to the genes I inherited from my mom. That's what I have to offer. In order for an exchange of value to happen, an agreement on value has to be reached. And you haven…

(since most people want and will eventually have kids Yeah, I see your point. There's this weird expectation in society that you're supposed to have children. I feel like a lot of people feel like that's what they're supposed to do, rather than it actually being what they actually want.

Thank you for your perspective. This is exactly what I was worried about. Like when you're going out things are great but you can break up and then you have to see each other day. And from what I've seen, tend to pick sides, often siding with the female because she's a female. So my team is pretty balanced. Other than my boss and my lead, it's actually split completely 50% down the middle in terms of gender. Well, at least that's how it is now. Meetings are a little bit awkward sometimes because…

The only problem that I see with this guys thought processing is that he asked a girl from work. Don't shit where you eat. I'll be honest. I'm attracted to a co-worker. There's a good chance if I asked her out that she would say yes, but that's not what I'm concerned about. My concern would be team dynamics and future repercussions. Sigh. You know, not all guys are like that right. If you generalize men based upon the few negative experiences or observations you have in your memory bank, that's counter-productive and exactly the same thing as what you're complaining about. Relationships should be about equality. But it's clear things are only a problem when the guy does something you don't like; it doesn't matter if you do something he doesn't like. Because guess what? Men are human beings with feelings and needs too. Your …
