If you have HSV-1 on your mouth, and you've had it for more than a few months, you are immune from catching HSV-1 genitally, as your body has built up antibodies to HSV-1. If you are unlucky, you can get Oral and genital HSV at the same time if it is the first time you are exposed to HSV. But if you get cold sores already on your mouth, you should not worry about contracting it genitally.

Wrong. You can get HSV-1 genitally. That would mean you have genital herpes with the HSV-1 strain.
