In my super Christian pre-marriage class, we read a book that basically said this. You love unconditionally. Then, if things are unfair, you never say anything, you just love unconditionally. Eventually, they’re supposed to realize and start loving you unconditionally. You know, after you’ve worked yourself to the bone and raised the children.

I agree that this could certainly be indicative of a bigger problem or an addiction. But, I will just say that I’ve had two babies and the time between the epidural and starting to push was extremely boring. I napped during most of it. My then husband was so tightly wound in the delivery room that I wish he had brought something to distract himself with. We had to wait about 12 hours before pushing.

Yes! The guys who aren’t watching porn don’t last as long. Which is see as sooooo much better! The actual p in v isn’t as long, but they’re willing to do so much more for your pleasure that it’s totally ok. Guys have this weird idea that they need to last forever. It’s just not true.

Oh my gosh. I misread that as “my daughters know I will never stand by them” and I was like, YOU ARE A TERRORIST!! So glad to be wrong! So so so glad

Aaaaaaaand, the way he worded it! His wife “gave him” pretty daughters?! GAVE HIM????!! He sounds like Henry VIII! The sperm determines the sex! Also, “gave him” implies ownership.

There are dudes who shower daily but don’t clean their asses in the shower. Or their feet. Or their taints. Also, they don’t scrub their scalps so they get gross dead skin pile-up

The whole thing is of course messed up. But, I don’t think a king wanted grandkids is messed up. If their whole government is based on his male line, he’s going to want that to continue. The monarchy is a terrible way to govern. But, if you’re the monarch it’s in your best interest to have grandkids

Oh for sure. And I just substitute avoidant as asshole in my mind. The book tried very hard to say there are no good or bad attachment styles. I don’t agree with that at all. Avoidant is bad. Something I did like from the book, however, was that the author acknowledged that avoidant people rarely seek to change this about themselves and you definitely can’t change it about them. That felt empowering to me at the time as well.

I did read the book that seems to be the most popular on attachment styles and dating. I actually found it quite empowering. The part I found to be the most helpful was the advice that if you are anxious then just stay away from avoidant people. I had never heard permission to just stay away from men like this before (before FDS). I found that quite refreshing. So, if it helps anyone else, then great!

There was a Scandinavian princess who married her physical therapist. She saw him while recovering from anorexia I believe. It took them 8 years to get the king to approve the marriage if I remember correctly. Can’t remember which country she’s from though.

When I was married, I went to a male marriage counselor. Best decision I ever made. He saw right through my ex husband’s crap and called him out on it. I think if it had been a woman, my ex wouldn’t have taken her seriously.

That’s what really bothers me about this. She labels it as an addiction. She doesn’t say, “my husband watches porn sometimes and I think it’s fine!” Nope. She says he’s addicted and it’s fine. No addiction is fine. Addiction implies a problem. (Not that I think occasional porn use is fine either, but her wording really got to me)

It’s soooo not about this, but her hair is gorgeous in every picture! And I love that for that many years she continues to have the same look on her face while playing. I wish I could see my progression in an activity over time like this

100% not at church! Currently divorcing a church boy. They will lie to your face and tell you they think porn is a terrible sin. Then, they’ll sin like the rest of ‘em. And you’re expected to forgive it everytime because Jesus.

Yes, but those poor single moms who were trying to keep it a secret so they wouldn’t have to share custody would be outed.

Just to play a tiny bit of devil’s advocate, they may have been saying that because you were young not because they thought your standards were insane. When I was 8, I was going to be a part-time opera singer/part-time Supreme Court justice. I think those are both great things now, but I would enjoy neither of them as a career.

One time, during dinner at a restaurant, it started to snow outside. So, after dinner we walked around the city with the snow gently falling. It was lovely and romantic. That’s an acceptable form of walking haha

And, what really bugs me is that Dave never asks any questions. He immediately jumped to her being ungrateful. He was not interested in finding out why she might be saying this about her date.

Yeah, if I recall, the headline wasn’t even misleading! It was something like: As PART of New Legislation, Finland to Criminalize Dickpicks

I’m just realizing this. My mom and her siblings are immigrants and English is their second language. Now that I think about it, all the women who married into the family have learned a fair bit of Dutch, but none of the men who married in have learned any. I can speak way more than my dad. I don’t think my dad can speak anything. I don’t think my dad can understand any! This is crazy! Ugh! Just another area of life that men just can’t step up to the plate! LEARN ABOUT YOUR WIVES!!!!!

This is why a part of me would argue for same-sex education. I’ve heard that it benefits girls. But, it tends to polarize men more and give them more sexist attitudes. Ugh. No perfect solution!

Even within these high paying fields! When my sister graduated med school, her class was the first class to graduate over 50% female (yay!). Most of the women, however, were going into the lowest paying specialties like family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and gynecology. Why????? Because residency is during their prime child-bearing ages! They are forced to pick between being present for their babies and a higher paying specialty. Also, because the general public “feels more comforta…

That is super true! But until I know a man well, I find it safest to drive separately to dates. Things can get dicey if you don’t have an out. Also, if I don’t know him well, I don’t want him to know exactly where I live. So, I will make a tiny gas investment for my own safety.

They do it because they’ve gotten away with it for nearly all of human history. Now, we get to stop it. You’re welcome, daughters.

This reminds me of when I was in labor! My ex was sitting on the couch staring at his phone while I was pacing with contractions. He didn’t even look up, just said, “Don’t forget to breathe.”
