if she wants to not work and stay home, she puts herself in a dangerous and precarious position. Millions of single moms live in poverty, and most of them also thought they were building a life with their partners. But at the end of the day, women end up broke and single.

I actually like it. They are up front about not wanting a relationship. I wish more men were like this. It's better than fucking around with women under false pretenses.

Ugh! My ex husband communicated JUST FINE. We'd talk. He'd listen. He'd engage. He'd mostly agree with me. He'd say he would do more - more cleaning, more parenting, more time with me. Then would just go back and do what he was doing before. He knew he was not pulling his fair share around the house. He didn't care. And then I was the nag and the person that never wanted to have fun.

If men want someone to watch a game with, why don't they ask their friends?

I know FDS hates OLD, but I have no other way to meet men. Bumble is the best by far. Women have to contact men which is non-FDS, but they are a better class of men and more interested in actual relationships than men on Tinder, etc. I haven't met anyone on Bumble that made my heart pitter patter but I have met a lot of great for someone else guys.

Yup - never respond to that "not all men" distraction. He's trying to make you defend yourself.

help clean up...but it's by choice, and adult men help. The kids under 16 are not treated like slave labor. The adult men also pitch in on cooking. My cousin's husband plans the menu and shops for everything. This is with also hosting about 25 people at their house for Christmas. It's amazing how different it feels to help when it's by choice and EVERYONE is happy to do something! Of My family is like your second one - kids do minimal chores (take the dishes to the kitchen) and adults of either …

why is Jennifer Aniston being blamed or implicated in his bad behavior? don't support that narrative specifically or in general. Women are not responsible for the behavior of men. They had been divorced for 10 years.

He might have been just using the word wrong. When we were little, my sister and I convinced my brother that "homely" meant he loved his family and his home. So he would tell people he was homely

yeah that's how I see the "boy mom" thing, too. Like my life if extra crazy because I'm not just a mom, I'm a mom of a BOY and BOYs are so crazy, not like those well-behaved girls.

Ugh and it's not just the men - it's their handmaidens, too. I got into a discussion with family members (who I am not longer in touch with because of issues like this) where one of my female cousins said that feminists make it sound like women get raped all the time and she doesn't know anyone that got raped. I said you know me, and you know I was, right? And that I know lots of other women because turns out when you are open about it - like I am - and don't treat being a rape victim as a mark …

Nope. Don't blame women for the behavior of men. We've been stewed in this idea that men are "feminist" and will do half of the work and then the men just don't do what they advertised or promised. I lose sympathy for these women when they continue to have kids with these men, but for getting trapped initially? There are not always signs.

If I was young, single and childless - I'd be interested in marriage. But I'm in the same boat as you. I have children, I have a great job and a full life. I'd be happy with a good relationship, but to be honest, I know of so few good relationships that I'm starting to think I'm better on my own. I don't believe in forever. A lot of marriages dissolve and lot more of them should dissolve. I'm happy to be a serial monogamist. Date a few months or years then move on. What does marriage give me tha…

I know a guy who got caught on "To Catch A Predator". It was fascinating and terrible to see who defended him and who dropped him. Sadly it was more women defending him than the men.

that's not a thing - lots of women have that tattoo. LOTS. It's a result of nasty porn soaked elements of society, but not trafficking.

it's not a joke. Hormonal birth control is probably the single biggest factor in women being able to control their own lives

agreed - we are not victims if men want to sleep with us and we do it. We just make poor choices if we sleep with them. If you want to vet men, make it clear that sex is not on the menu and wait it out.

I use OLD- I have no opportunity to meet men in the wild. I think I am filtering pretty well. I have had a few crazy time wasting first dates but you can figure out the flakes and users pretty quickly. The men looking to hook up with suggest bars. Men looking to date will suggest coffee, dinner, or happy hour. I've met some great men OLD and most of them seem to want a relationship. More than I do. (I'm in my 40s)

Ugh - it's OK - when you do meet up with them, they are just as useless in person. Expect you to do all the entertaining. I feel like I'm dancing to keep the discussion going, to be charming, to suggest things while they answer minimally and most of their responses are "ha ha yeah, I know what you mean' They think that like a sportsball team or quoting Dwight from the Office is a personality.

good lord - so true. And dating single dads? especially not the freshly divorced ones. They just want a new mommy so they don't have to deal with their kids.

saying something is a "choice" as if those choices exist without outside pressure or without a downside is really missing the point

if you are a single woman and enjoy doing home-oriented activities such as baking, you are not a "trad wife" - you are a woman who enjoys homemaking activities

LOL my new man is former military and his house is neat and clean and organized. Because of COVID, we always eat in and take turns cooking. I don't know what it would be like to live with him, but so far I'm impressed with this part.

I'd like to see men challenge gender roles by doing dishes, emotional labor, taking care of family and friends. That would be truly dismantaling gender. Not wearing a crop top.

women put so much time and energy on making ourselves look good, and making our house beautiful, and growing flowers, and they think we are not visual creatures? It's like men don't even know us.

No. the point of feminism is not to do whatever you want to do whenever you want to do it. Feminism is not a feel good / follow your bliss philosophy.

Drop him. First of all, because he is stupid/childish/selfish for breaking quarantine. Second of all, because he's tacky for allowing that shizz to be posted on social media. Third of all, because he has a woman he has been stringing along for a year which means he's a pretty shitty person. Fourth of all, you get the point.
