Woman is raped by man, man spends three months in jail. Woman lies about rape threats, woman gets (hopefully) eight months in jail. When I said "to be fair", I meant "to be fair, the whole system is fucked up." The Brock Turner case got more attention because it was seen as a more serious crime. If it were up to me though, this woman would have to live with these allegations publically known about her for the rest of her life.

Agreed, but that's why I looked at the image, saw the publication it was from, and then read the article. If people aren't willing to do that before condemning a person, then they aren't concerned about anyone's rights and should maybe not call themselves Rights Activists.

When it comes to malicious and intentional false reports, I'd like to say the person making the false claim should be subject to the same punishment as the crime they are trying to pin on someone. But I think that would be really tricky and create a whole slew of new issues.

I know for a fact that there are false rape accusations, as I've been the victim of such a lie. I'm lucky enough that the woman who told this lie was as obviously insane as I am obviously gay. My main issue with this thread is that people are so quick to call her names or refute her claim with no information, many of them not even having read the article. He was released pretty much on a technicality, because she "lied" when she said she hadn't been "sexually active" before he raped her.

I'm a homo, and I've literally only seen a few women's genitals in my life, always accidentally, and none were in person. But I've heard women talk about them enough to know how they work. And honestly, I would be grossed out if I were one of these guys, because I wouldn't want to sexually touch anyone I'm not attracted to. This is anecdotal, but I know there's some truth to what you said. I would always watch in awe as a gay guy came out of the closet, and started going to bars. In 6 months his speech patterns would often have already changed drastically. Not in all cases, but I think it starts when they're young, especially if they are worried about fitting in.
