But what makes a joke work is also how you deliver it, you could've exaggerated and stared at her like she's crazy and say "What? Why wouldn't I? You don't want to live long enough where you could stick your brains in a robotic vessel?" But again there's no obligation to make jokes, if it's not working for you, then you can just stop. But for starters, avoid being edgy and make any dark jokes, not many people finds those jokes funny, At best, they'd just be neutral to it. Avoid any racism/sexism, or any personal attacks.
