I don't agree most joined the Northern Alliance and just because the names changed, doesn't stop them being the same people.

That's quite a view you have there... The ISI was heavily involved in directing CIA weapons and cash to Afghan mujahudeen (many of whom weren't actually Afghan either) who went on to become the Taliban.

Hell no, it's her body. I'm for equality, and I expect to have complete autonomy over my body, so I believe women should have the same.

I've followed The Red Pill sub for a few months too, and find it rather funny. I think, perhaps, there is a tiny, tiny number of people who have a genuinely interesting theory/understanding of gender in that place, but they're totally over-run but a vast majority utter arsehole and deluded idiots. They're the rad-fems of the Men's Movement and just as ridiculous.

Yeah I think most of the people on here only read the first couple of pages... things get really really dark with multiple posters suggesting he must have provoked it, that it's not the same or as bad as normal Dv because he's a man or even that he deserved it because he probably didn't do enough to help with the kids. As an indication of how fucked up it gets, by page 10 you have someone say: "I hope he doesn't come back because you're better off without him. And I hope you didn't hurt yourself…

I have no idea why this is here. This has nothing whatsoever to do with men's rights.

Frankly this is utterly bizarre. If they're going to make such bold claims they need to either cite some sources or have a logical argument, this has neither. Also, as a teacher, you ought to know that there's no apostrophe in 1950s.

That behaviour was offensive, annoying and unacceptable. If I was on the bus I'd have cheered if they had been thrown off. And if the Student Union wanted to issue a warning to the society's president I wouldn't complain. However it's clearly not illegal (nor should it be), certainly not a hate crime, and I wouldn't call it misogynistic either. It's clearly sexist, but I don't think it qualifies as actual hatred. It's the kind of behaviour which is unpleasant when done in public, but fine when d…

I support a lot of Mens Rights issues, but I wholeheartedly disagree with the notion that men shouldn't take responsibility for their offspring. Of course some women abuse child-support, and that should be opposed, but fathers have an unbreakable emotional and financial responsibility to their children (as do mothers... I'm sorry yours abandoned you). I also firmly oppose the idea that men should have a say in abortions. It's the woman's body, not the man's, and only the woman should make that d…

It's huge yes, but it's also very widely dispersed. There's tens of thousands of troops in Korea, Japan, the Middle East and Europe. If, for whatever reason, the US decided to occupy Iran for example, they would need to bring back the draft - as a country of that size would need in excess of 600,000 troops to occupy it all, and with the US military's other commitments it would need a draft to sustain those troop levels. I think you're right though, a draft these days would be political suicide.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if this policy was asked for by the male teachers to give themselves a way of protecting themselves, while not offending the rejected students.

I have never understood why there can be such huge queues for woman's bathrooms. I mean, okay urinals maybe add one or two 'spaces' to the gents - but that in no way accounts for the absurd lines you sometimes see coming out of the ladies'... why the hell do they take so long to pee?

Well, afraid I don't know much about Danish politics (would like to though!) but I think these terms evolved differently in different places over time. Classical Liberalism has a strong British tradition (Locke, Adam Smith, Jeremy Bentham, JS Mill etc.) But it's been around long enough that it evolved lots over the centuries. The Liberal Party moved towards social Liberalism throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, until they merged with the Social Democrat party in 1988. The Social Democrats wer…

Ask her why she focuses only on gender and race, but not wealth? Oprah Winfrey is far, far more powerful than 99% of white men in the world. It's money that let's you do anything you want far more than anything else.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but reading through your post you only talk about you and your ex - and not really the kids. They're the most important thing in the world, and anything you have to do to give them as good a childhood as you can, you should do. Think about them first and foremost.

I never meant to imply a lack of empathy is exclusive to feminst women - not at all, of course all kinds of people can suffer from it. I used to live with a feminist, and we would talk about it as at that time I considered myself a feminist too.. but wasn't really active or aware, while she would go to conferences and would hang out with some of England's most well known young feminists and the like, so I would ask her questions as I was genuinely interested. The day she finally told me that, ul…

Most women who spout this kind of stuff don't understand how they could be offensive. They just seem to have a blind spot when it comes to empathizing with men or seeing anything from their point of view. I don't think this is normal... it comes from being surrounded by an ideology which sees men as the enemy.

Good post. I don't get their point of it being 'in the mainstream' though, when this game earnt something like $1bn in three days..... Criticizing GTA for misogyny is like criticizing Need for Speed for not respecting the environment. You know what you get with GTA, if she wasn't prepared to take the game as it was, she shouldn't have reviewed it. Pretty pathetic to inject unnecessary politics into a game review and I understand why people treated it with scorn. As for his response, wow - it takes a fair slice of guts/idiocy to talk to their community like that.

/r/MensRights15/09/13 03:38 PM

Of course not. Just like waving food under the nose of a hungry person doesn't excuse theft... but it does make it more likely to happen.
/r/MensRights15/09/13 11:51 AM

No. Stranger rape has nothing to do with how the victim dresses... it's about the rapist exercising power and has little to do with sex. Women out for a run, old ladies etc. are just as likely to be raped by a stranger as a woman dressed in a short skirt. But stranger rape makes up less than 10% of rape cases. The issue with women dressing provocatively and they being raped is to do with men they 'know' at least in a limited sense (e.g. men they met at a club). It's to do with the signals they a…

Yeah, I tried on-line dating when I lived in London too. Stopped after one date where she expected me to buy all the drinks... naively I went along with it. After three glasses of wine she looked at her phone and said she had to get to a party, and just left. What a bitch. But let's not forget behaviour like this isn't the norm - on the vast majority of dates I've been on women have wanted to split the bill... Most women see this woman's actions as the shitty behaviour it is.

Couldn't agree more dude. I want to e-mail them or something, and just tell them they're good people who deserve respect. I honestly feel like they must have been brainwashed to be in the position they're in - and must've been vulnerable in the first place to be susceptible to such brainwashing. It is like they're in a cult.

Good post, and I completely agree about highlighting the positive aspects of masculinity. It's important for young men to feel proud about who they are. I just feel so sorry for the guys who have joined this group, and others like it, and for any man who hates himself or disrespects himself just because he's a man. It's so sad.

Oh they're hilarious. Apparently they were forming a guerrilla warfare army to end global industrialisation, but lost many of their soldiers because they couldn't agree on an inclusivity policy for trans-people. I'm sure the US Marines are petrified.

Yeah I know... it's pretty grim reading. But then, there are men who have signed up to this. It's totally cultish - breaking down their self-esteem in order to make them pliant. I feel sorry for the guys who've been brainwashed by this group.

Bleugh... I don't like saying 'Asian men' as not all are like that... but you're right in that I did say it like that... The one's who had problems all seemed very sexually immature to me - sort of like a 14 year old boy in the body of a man, and they just couldn't help themselves. They also always saw their behaviour as complimentary - they weren't trying to be nasty. I think it has a lot to do with the socially enforced 'dating' rules, in that they can only marry who their parents choose for t…

Like I say, I've spent time there... I've even had the not-very-pleasant experience of trying to keep a guy away from my friend who was publicly masturbating while trying to touch her. None of the locals batted an eyelid. While that was an extreme end, there were almost endless unpleasant comments directed towards the women I knew. And it's not out of the way for me particularly. I've lived there, my girlfriend has lived there and we've both visited numerous times. I love Asia, but they really d…

From history to herstory It's this line that, for me, really sums up modern feminism. They take offence (that even the word 'history' is about men), without in anyway exploring the truth ('his' is a Germanic word, while 'history' is a Latin word - they have absolutely nothing in common etymologically speaking - the Latin pronoun for his is 'suus'). They ignore obvious flaws in their argument (if it was accurately changed it would be hertory instead of herstory - as history only has one S) And th…

To be honest I'd answer that it has improved my life, despite being strongly opposed to many contemporary feminists. If you're taking the 'women's movement' as a whole, that includes things like gaining the right to vote for women, rights to higher education etc. etc... Those things have massively improved my life.

Worse, from my point of view the European Left doesn't even exist anymore as people primarily associate it with 'social justice' (feminism, gay rights, anti-racism etc.) rather than economic justice. The trouble is the right is perfectly capable of adopting these social justice ideas without jeopodising their core values (you can be a black gay feminist and yet believe in free-market economics). And so by dropping their core values of economic justice for social justice, the left has simply with…

Yeah no one should deny the impact of socialisation - I mean how else could we explain the marked differences between societies? But it's equally daft to disregard biological factors when analysing behaviour.
/r/MensRights16/08/13 07:02 PM
3

I didn't think it was so bad either. I disagree, like I always do, that people are socialised into behaviour without any regard to biology, and it also ignores the fact that many women (and, to a lesser extent men) demand some kind of judgement on their looks whether from men or women... but nonetheless it was intelligently thought out and had enough to it for me to respect and engage with. Much better than a fair amount of feminist blogs I've seen.
/r/MensRights16/08/13 06:53 PM

Again, I agree with you. But the trouble giving judges discretion is that they will likely base their judgement on the perceived harm to the student. There are cases where the student continues the relationship even after the relationship has been exposed (sometime even after court case and while the teacher is in prison)... in these cases there is probably negligible harm done to the student. However in other cases, while the student seems fine at the time, any trauma may not surface until much…

I completely agree with you... no one should dismiss abortion as an easy option - it can lead to some horrible mental traumas. And yeah, both teen boys and teen girls fantasise about their teachers, and teachers should be given the support they need to treat these fantasies appropriately... we certainly don't want sexual relationships between teachers and teen students.

Why is it 'men dating younger women' as if women have no agency in this arrangement? I know one couple where he's old enough to be her dad, and she was very much the one who chased him rather than the other way round. I'm not saying that's always the case, but the reverse clearly isn't always the case either - yet this seems to put all the responsibility on the man and portrays young women as nothing more than malleable pets who are so easily manipulated they have no chance to choose their own p…

I generally quite like a lot of feminists... I'm extremely grateful for the suffragette movement and for the fact that my sister and female friends had free access to education, I'm pro choice as I have a strong conviction that everyone is sovereign over their own body etc etc... The Magna Carta was the beginning of a long road towards the rule of law... but it most certainly did not end there. I agree about applying contemporary ethics - but are you saying that the term tyrant can only be applied to 20th century rulers?

No English monarch was 'restrained by law' until the English Civil War forced the primacy of Parliament. Before that English rule was governed by a concept known as 'divine right' where the monarch had absolute and unquestioned power. Elizabeth reigned 40 years before the war. And I don't know how scorched earth tactics and the wholesale slaughter men, women and children is a reasonable response to any rebellion.
