That's the POINT of a trial. Or am I misunderstanding you?? Also, police don't prove things. They collect the evidence and hand it to the prosecutor. The lawyers prove things. Many times the police may decide there is insufficiency of evidence. Other times the prosecutors may do that where the police have not.
