When you're in Hollywood and you're a comedian, everybody wants you to do other things. All right, you're a stand-up comedian, can you write us a script? That's not fair. That's like if I worked hard to become a cook, and I'm a really good cook, they'd say, "OK, you're a cook. Can you farm?" -Mitch Hedberg.

no not really. i think you missed my point. You just need to be a good comedian, i don't care about your gender. if you actually didn't care about gender you'd like more male comics than female comics... statistically speaking... unless you avoid them because you care about gender... ...

not all of them. I just don't think that many women pursue stand up compared to men. so the funny ones rise to the top but there's not enough female comedians to ahve a bunch of funny ones and then less funny ones. its just mostly so so and a few really funny ones.

I feel like you don't listen to that much comedy then. not because women aren't funny... just cause the scale is so vastly different. there are sooooooooooo many more male comics than female comics that statistically if you don't care about gender you'd end up liking more male comics, if you actually listened to them. guys like , dan cummins, gary gulman, john caparulo, mike birbiglia, chris d'elia etc. not the huge names but the dudes who put out a few specials or cds of solid funny material. I…

... the only people who do that shit are the fucking female comics and the people marketing them to women. to everyone else they're just a comedian. often times not a very good one. but the only people who want the distinction made are the women involved because it puts them in a smaller category where they can shine. they no longer have to compete with time against all comics. all they have to do is be funnier than the other women and they'll be known as "the funny female comic"

not exactly profound. and there are dudes who skate by on looking good also so its more of a general statement.

she's not. I've seen that documentary and some of her shit and if its not downright bad its stiff and forced. jen kirkman is a great example of a funny woman.

I've seen the movie. she's kind of a bitch and thinks she's hot shit that deserves comedy specials and tv shows when really she should just be hitting open mic nights and trying to actually get better.

eh Idk. could just have something to do with the volume. I feel like a lot more men pursue stand up. I don't find anybody funny based on their gender. some people are funny and some aren't but gender has nothing to do with it. at the same time that doesn't mean people should be forced to sit through mediocre comedians just because of some sort of affirmative action when there are actual talented female comedians out there like jen kirkman.

child support doesn't come close to all of the money someone needs to raise a kid... a lot of women who receive child support are on welfare... so no its not to prevent that. That's why in some states even step parents can be forced to pay child support. in every state they can. if they assumed the parental role for the child. Hell I've heard a while back just living with a mother and child for extended periods of time and supporting them could earn you a one way trip to paying child support. ha…

it happens pretty often for child support... among other things. sure its not a sure thing. but you're acting like it doesn't even exist lmao.

maybe you should learn about the process because you clearly don't have a clue. https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/collect-court-judgment-wage-garnishment-30146.html

... this isn't even remotely true lmao. if you win a court settlement and they have no money they absolutely will garnish wages for you. lmao

you're an idiot.... you know theres a south african player in the nhl right? there's a haitian and a jamaican and a lebanese guy too. you really missed the point if you think I was saying you can't be a hockey player because of where you were born. I was just saying it is going to be a lot harder. doesn't mean you can't do it. moron. enjoy the block!

I honestly just feel like she has a secret short guy fetish that she's ashamed of. like those republican "family values" senators that get caught at the truck stop bumping ankles. can't stop talking about how much they hate something, secretly love it.

I'm pretty sure the rise in male suicide rates is equal to the entire amount of female suicide rates. hard to tell without all the notches... but seriously.

so google it. I have. takes 5 seconds. Try being raised by a dad who resents the hell out of you. how does this relate to my point? yes some people have parents who resent them. but did your dad spend thousands to win you in a custody battle? how does it relate to what we're talking about? you're just firing back with emotions. Trust me, it's better to go with the parent who actually prefers to have you around. I believe I made that very point... so you're just gonna pretend I didn't and that it…

I don't understand why this is confusing. you and me both. There shouldn't be any default. well there already is. it just benefits women more often than not as the primary caregiver. It should be divided on the basis of who does what percentage of the childcare. I disagree. if my mother wanted to have us 90% of the time she could have and we'd barely know our dad. I've seen it happen. its fucked up. so what my dad worked more and couldn't pick us up from school every day. after they split they b…

Me neither, you literally just did. Have to say I found the arguments against default shared parenting more compelling, . Custody seems to go to the parent who wants it more, and they usually agree. the cases where they agree on custody aren't really the issue... if the parents are in agreement about how to raise the child then good for them. we don't need a court system to tell them what to do. they've already figured it out. its the ones who argue over it where the woman gets the default rulin…

Have to say I found the arguments against default shared parenting more compelling, not even really on feminist grounds so much as it seemed like a more logical arrangement to do it the way it has been done. inequality is logical now? I don't think so. my parents are divorced and if my mother was a bitch like my stepmom I wouldn't know my father the way my half brother doesn't know my father. he spent thousands of dollars just to be able to see his kid once a month for a few years. and then even…

The word feminism has been around since 1896 and has always referred to fighting for gender equality. well that's not true. fem·i·nism ˈfeməˌnizəm/Submit noun the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. sure when the pendulum is swung all the way to one side you need to advocate for the rights of the group without power. but the pendulum is a lot closer to the middle now. keep only pushing one side and you'll never have equality. you'll just have changed the directi…

I agree there is a double standard. I'm just trying to explain why as guys we don't typically feel threatened. logic and reason? as strange as it is. and as much as I wouldn't appreciate it... if someone was gonna stab me or shoot me in the back they wouldn't grab my ass first...

its just this pheomenon. the dude is virtue signaling in the hopes that women will see it and think "hey this is a good guy"
