My thought was that if both parents are required to approve of a birth, both parents are given equal say, and both parents have equal responsibility. If you have to go searching for other opinions rather than having them right there with the popular opinions, more people tend to only see what they agree with. Being an echo chamber is not a binary state, subreddits that enforce opinions through banning are obviously more toxic than other subreddits, but every subreddit trends towards something, and sorts it's content accordingly.
