The underlying goals are: Be attractive. Be interesting. Respect yourself. Lifting serves goals 1 and 3, and works for most people. Not everyone can immediately afford great clothes or a great haircut, but almost everyone can begin look better (be attractive) and feel better (respect yourself) by lifting.

Your list sounds like things you thought of, rather than things your boss thought of. Before you have the "Pay me more" conversion, you want to have the "What more can I do for you?" conversation. Alternately, if you're genuinely paid less than the boss would pay to replace you, then just site your source for that fact.

I think your comment is valid, when applied to seeking forgiveness. Asking for forgiveness is just one more ask, and is self centered, and there is no need or point. But apologizing is also taking ownership of a mistake. Done without asking forgiveness, it is very worthwhile. Leaders apologize to set clear expectations for the future - pointing out that their own behavior was unacceptable. By apologizing for missteps, a leader can much sooner change the tone after he makes a mistake. A leader wh…

Anecdotally, I have only known one person whose wife earned dramatically more than him, and he was very objectively successful and happy. I always figured it was just another extension of his success that he managed to attract such a high value woman. Having seen him in action, guys who have mastered outcome independence don't lose any happiness when their wives are successful. But yes, I can understand that outcome independence is hard, and many guys never master it.

The most important advice is 'take it slow'. Pay attention to how your changes might affect her, and don't do anything drastic, yet. You probably don't know where the sweet spot is with each new behavior, so don't do anything drastic, yet. Your only motivations to move quickly are your own discomfort, and patience and outcome independence are great tools, so, don't do anything drastic right away. Her whole biology is focused on the quite difficult task of making a new person, so don't do anythin…

You raise some valuable points, some of which I've already given some thought to, and some of which I have yet to process. Thank you. I don't have much to add, except that I hope this sub continues to be an encouraging place for anyone trying to come to terms with what it means to be male (gender, because no one should about sex on the internet unless they are asking for pictures...).

I like your point about behaviors described as 'hamstering' being observable in people from any gender. I (a man) have learned to watch for it in myself, since learning about TRP. While TRP doesn't focus on hamstering in males, I haven't noticed anyone here suggest it to be impossible, either. TRP makes a strong division between the self (where no unwanted behavior is to be accepted) and others (where unwanted behaviors are expected and must be planned for). Since this is a male community dealin…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
