wow, i'm late here. I wont' bother replying to the content. however, I admire that you made account just to argue with me

the comments are really focusing on the misogyny. THe neutral posts are really buried and definitely not the most debated.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/01/21 08:26 PM

so the genders are at war??!?! aren't you inviting misogyny with this premise?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/01/21 02:50 AM

I love the comments tho lmao "This video is proof men are the enemy" "As a man I can say men are the enemy" "Hear that ladies we're not allowed to have trauma" To quote one top comment "You sound like you gaslight every girl you've ever seen" Is a very good descriptor of this man lol based on someone else's post
/r/PurplePillDebate07/01/21 02:40 AM

men are the enemy isn't misandric? but the video is "low key subtly misogynistic"?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/01/21 02:39 AM

you find those comments are accurate? men are the enemy?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/01/21 02:26 AM

neither. I suspect if you ask those questions, then your questions are too deep for her humor.

It doesn't have to be legislation to enact awareness. Discussing the matter alone and acknowledging disparities is important. The fight for equality can exist in all domains, outside of the professional and legal sphere. In the article below, there was a discussion about the changes people wanted to see. Most agreed in the professional sphere, changes had to be made. But there was inertia, women contributed to this part, that led to age-old traditions such as engagement rings, paying for the fir…

The argument aside which I don't care to debate. I find it's callous and unempathetic. A lot of men are lonely and starving for affection. Your suggestion is to suck it up buttercup rather than acknowledging there are real disparities in how men are treated by everyone - including women. This leads in part to male isolation, fear, and the rising male suicide numbers. If it for security reasons alone, some of the men are responding negatively by hurting others (both men and women). Please don't b…

but fuckboy isn't a niche term. It's like slut. It's meant to be pejorative and is definitely overly ascribed. we shouldn't use either

I don't necessarily disagree and I wish I hadn't made this so gender-focused. I was trying to point out the movement that if we were to not put any shame or importance of sex, then how can we say it contributes to objectification
/r/PurplePillDebate23/11/20 09:18 PM

I'm merely curious. Both will engage in this behavior -- no question. Yet, I"m curious why it's considered toxic in one case and not the other.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/11/20 05:20 PM
1

well I see this argued a lot. I don't mind the assertion but the extrapolation is that n counts then matter. Past experiences matter. We can 'slut shame" as it's something sacred.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/11/20 05:15 PM

I like this idea because it strikes the core of the question. Ideally, you shoudn't feel anything if they had sex much like how men are expected to not feel anything if he pays for dinner for instance. now though, we know that's not true.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/11/20 05:13 PM

but why is there a sentiment that he was the one "using" her. We shouldnt' shame women who want sex, but we shouldn't shame men for it either.

can someone do a tldr to summarize the thesis statement? To be honest, there are a lot of generalizations here based on 2-3 dates with older guys and none of them have particularly rational conclusions.

This sub is an unrestrained form of dialog. The real world has a lot more tact. Don't come to this sub expecting moderation and subtlety. However, your post comes across a little obtuse. How do you not expect physical attraction to be associated with body appearance. Any obese woman/man can confirm their options are different
/r/PurplePillDebate23/10/20 12:23 AM

is this thread about this guys' personal preference for obese women? I'm glad there are people like you. Otherwise, there isn't much of an argument here except your personal taste

isn't that a little extreme. I don't know the statistics but I would say a large marjority of men masturbate to porn
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/20 11:46 PM

I suppose both? Although your answer is clear. If you're in a cis-gendered (heterosexual) relationship then you're more likely to encounter men who purchase could you please elaborate what a purchaser of onlyfans gets? is it porn ? if yes, then is it like someone with a paid porn subscription? or do they arrange sexual encounters via the app?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/20 11:20 PM
3

I suppose I'm curious. Are there variables that predispose people to do that? One extreme example is the porn industry? what percentage of those people have healthy relatioships?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/20 10:52 PM

This thread opened my eyes to onlyfans. I am VERY NAIVE but it seems like sex workers, porn stars and average people have private accounts. They range from a well known porn star to a local high school teen posting nudes(or not)? Does this remind me of the groupon phase? It's such a simple formula that it's bound to be copied and the supply will overwhelm the demand. Maybe I"m a little clueless but how is this bubble expected to continue?

I feel that viewing entitlement to sex for men is equivalent to viewing pay equity as merely a debate about money. I think a larger proportion of those men don't' think they want "sex" they want to intimacy a strong relationship component. or even intimacy. You're also viewing it from a very small ndividualistic lens. I think in general you don't have sympathy for these men who have undeniably been outcast and isolated. In general, men's causes, especially in the lower socioeconomic classes, don…

I am the child of a single mother. She always told me to have high standards when it comes to women too. for instance, she demanded I marry someone with the same professional postgraduate education with similar income to mine. She shouldn't have kids previously. She shouldn't be sexually promiscuous as it's a sign of bad character. She should be supportive and considerate of my needs. She should avoid emotional manipulation. In addition, she encouraged me never to date too old as it comes with a…

could it be that they're two different categories of women? 1) Women in their 30s. Established careers usually. Income more predictable (not necessarily high). Often have children and likely have limited perspectives on more. Want commitment right away. They see dating as necessary evil to a family They are less attractive as a whole but also accept less physically attractive men. 2) Women in their 20s. Much more attractive but have similar expectations. Often have no kids. Careers in flux. Comm…

i think we all agree the rules should apply equally. however, there's an elemant of reality we can't dismiss. Women get a lot more sexual advantages during their youuth compared to men. It's fine and real. Similarly men are more likely to seek a sex worker for instance. It's not because females are deprived of the opportunity, but rather there's no need for it. So it's not fair as the circumstances are not the same. Beyond the number itself is a lot of nuance. WOmen judge men based on previous se…
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/20 08:18 AM

that's way too simplistic. women equally judge men on past experiences as I pointed out in my own trivial but symbolic example. Would you call women misandrist if they chose not to date a man who has had sex with other men before? would a woman be misandrist if she didn't want a man who had sex with a sex worker before?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/20 06:19 AM

Just to clarify , are you suggesting women worry too much about men not having experience? are you suggesting women use it as a way to shame and categorize as a man as lower status?

I was thinking of something that is actually quite common 1) 2 sexually active people date. They have a frank discussion about sex. She has had x partners. She mentions oh yes, I used to drink a lot and made a lot of mistakes when I was younger. I still get drunk on the weekends but it's less than before. or the man might say, yeah, I would get so horny I would sleep with an ex. I told her we should rekindle but only really wanted sex. I'm sorry I wasn't clear. Manic episodes happen in bipolar d…

Yes, we men don't do that enough in my view. A guy feeling bad about his social life is still considered a weakling. Thanks for your input.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/20 03:37 AM
1

yes, sex. I suppose i'll be more blunt. Sex isn't always related to finding a partner or wanting to explore. Libido can be elevated in medical conditions including substance abuse. There are a ton of people who have sex during a manic episode. it's sad. is it bad to ask about medical history ? isn't that even more personal?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/20 03:36 AM

It seems like your answers are consistent. I honestly have zero insight about how women interact with each other about this matter. I suppose your friend group is an outlier

I can't dispute that at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/20 03:04 AM

i'm assuming in this simple dichotomy that 1) women have negative consequences for having too many partners 2) Men have negative consequences for having too few Would you counsel your male and female friends accordingly . Is there slut shaming or incel-shaming withe either propositing

suppose a mythical man has had sex with the whole city no intention of being in a relationship -- thoughts on this? does that change things?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/20 02:54 AM

ok i appreciate that as being very honest. A few questions would you ever tell your female friend to control her sexual behavior or limit her partners because it may have future consequences? similarly would you tell a male friend to get in the game more based on a similar logic?

I find the first and last paragraph contradict each other please clarify?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/20 02:43 AM

but do people just switch? I keep hearing a lot of people "wanting to settle down" as if that's a transformation that is sudden and naturally occurring. How many bad traits do we career on in our lives? anxiety, gambling, and smoking and none seem to gradually go away with age. We need to work on them. I just don't see how intimacy can be different. Me as a low N count male, should I be judged for not wanting to commit ? I can see why a woman would worry
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/20 02:42 AM
1

but do you feel the judgment of women for their partner count is far? or is that deeply rooted in misogyny than practicality.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/20 02:39 AM
0

but does that mean someone with a low relationship count (N<3) in his thirties is a red flag? I assume you're a woman, what goes through your thought process hearing that?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/20 02:38 AM
1

well I admire that. I hope more become like you. However, I"m not expecting this transformation. THe most I see feminist discuss men's issues is when they throw out toxic masculinity as a locus for all of men's modern problems
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/20 01:49 AM
1

You mention sexual assault of men BY WOMEN as a problem. Of course, you later say that's you don't blame the cause of the sexual assault to be men. Rather you say the lack of empathy by other men to be a problem. Your argument makes no sense because the sexual assault was by other women. The lack of empathy by other men has no relevance to your argument that all problems are caused by men since the cause of the sexual assault isn't men.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/20 05:20 PM
1

The issue i have with feminism is that serves to balance the injustice for women alone. Pay gaps, slut shaming etc.. These are all noble but do nothing for male issues.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/20 05:16 PM
1

then your example served no purpose to strengthen your argument. All you did is add a non-relevant point to obfuscate
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/20 05:13 PM
3

that's what they say. However, women care for men's emotional vulnerability in as much as it suits their pre-set beliefs of objectives. A lot of women have demanded I be more vulnerable when I tell them the things that worry are about jobs, paying bills and healthy they don't care. They just say "you need to work on that"

she did accuse him of sexual assault " Grace says her friends helped her grapple with the aftermath of her night with Ansari. “It took a really long time for me to validate this as sexual assault,” she told us. “I was debating if this was an awkward sexual experience or sexual assault. And that’s why I confronted so many of my friends and listened to what they had to say, because I wanted validation that it was actually bad.” ' https://babe.net/2018/01/13/aziz-ansari-28355

The frame of reference overlaps. They are not distinct time points. Not all relationships exhibit health emotional support. In the grand scheme of things, men are judged for displaying emotions and that's been their experience. You may be be biased as all you read is posts from this subreddit. Heres' a thread from AITA which I'll admit can be fake https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/aqge4p/aita_for_distancing_myself_from_my_bf_after_he/ I have no idea what your final questions is elu…

But your response is unfair. You can use your argument anywhere. In addition, no self-respecting person will openly admit to dismissing someone because they're too "emotionally vulnerable". Both genders use tons of euphemisms to dismiss the other. Do you think a man will dismiss an obese woman by saying "You're great but you're obese and I don't like you?" Lastly, it's not a manosphere thing. Bene Brown talked about how men are judged by women for displaying emotion
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/20 12:37 AM

I don't understand this criticism. Are you doubting his story? It's reasonable to be skeptical but your response seems like it has an agenda. This is a common theme that most guys feel.

I was intrigued by the notion that women ar e now the therapists of men especially prompted by articles like this one https://www.harpersbazaar.com/culture/features/a27259689/toxic-masculinity-male-friendships-emotional-labor-men-rely-on-women/ which discusses that women are the ones who pay for the inability of men to communicate. /r/PurplePillDebate07/01/20 11:32 PM

yeah I don't think men are good at putting up with female emotions either. Both sides seem to have a problem here but the emotional labor argument is usually favoring women

I really don't understand the definitions for one 1) A young undergraduate student who focuses on his studies, avoids the heartache of dating, and saves money from his job would by definition be considered a MGTOW? This venture seems noble to me to be honest. In fact, I got more satsifaction doing this pursuing my career. I never blamed women for the problems as it externalizes issues 2) A man who wants relationships with woman but complains about societal pressures that don't favor his curr…

so you're mitagating that risk by going somewhere casual? like an AppleBees or Dennys? Man 10% seems high though. spending 40 dollars on someone seems extreme.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/01/20 07:44 PM
13

Also, I have no idea why people are so mad about having to pay for dinner. The sad reality is that you will get exploited by a small proportion of women/people with that mentality. If you're okay with that risk, then go ahead. I do think the majority of women are appreciative even though a not so small minority expect to be treated on dates.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/01/20 07:37 PM

This study has desirability bias written all over it. I'm not against it being done but the flaws are apparent. In addition, kindness is not exactly something that's teased out in today's dating. It's physical appearance followed by other characteristics. I'm not in any pill group, but how do you determine kindness if you both genders have strict physical requirements.

very interesting response. I'll assume you're a man. As an Chinese American man, you are widely stereotypes and social conditioning has made asian men less attractive to Westerners. Therefore, most of my Chinese American friends - especially the men -- find it much easier to date their own ethnicity -- if only just to improve odds. I imagine these people would be happy to pay first knowing the other person is more likely to reciprocate love. Any thoughts on this?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/12/19 12:10 AM
3

You're 100% right though. However, I think we disagree on proportions. I do think a more than significant proportion of women expect men to pay. It's a custom in their view at best and an expectation at worst. I've seen this more overtly in immigrant populations.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/19 11:56 PM

I suppose but if weren't espousing equality then shouldn't it extend beyond simply paying for dates? Do these same women prefer to be Stay at home mothers? Are they okay being given allowances?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/19 11:49 PM
1

I think you misunderstood. I meant they will exclude a potential partner solely based on his declining to pay for the whole thing. For them it's a dealbreaker. That's the problem. It's a societal issue that can't be ignored.

The huge flaw with the discussion point is that the PUA community serves only to get sex for men. A lot of the pick-up community also tries to build self-confidence and remove the fear of rejection. The latter is the healthiest and most productive way to get sex instead of a cheesy line or scripts that the OP and the studies are insinuating. Lisa LIng did an interesting piece for CNN about this concept.

Logos and Pathos. Well I've read her book and watched some of her interviews so I can argue it appears to my logos. It seems like you're dictated by pathos if you believe popular culture dictates fact or logic. I don't blindly believe academics but I wont' take pewdiepie over her on the subject.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/19 09:00 PM

yeah but it's reality. Do you see the crossfit guys? They're ripped and have great endurance but their technical skill is absolutely awful. Do you think women care if your deadlift form is off or if you can't squat with the perfect technique? As a man, do you care if your girlfriend eats healthy and is still 20lbs overweight? The end results matter to everyone.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/19 07:01 PM

90 of gains means muscle gain? I am not sure about that. Anyway, I see your point about transformation but remember your comparing transformation with firm outcomes like Abs or ripped biceps. Those are different. YOu can drop 10% of body fat and have neither. Getting biceps or abs may take longer but with more gradual changes.

Do you think the average male is not obese? the average American male is close to 200lbs with a 40-inch waist. I'm not shitting on men. The average woman is 170lbs with a 38-inch waist. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/body-measurements.htm

yes, Brene Brown isn't some lady. She's an academic and written books on vulnerability. SO please don't reduce this into some anecdotal story about a gay man you know. I can tell you a number of men who cried when they were dating and were dumped soon thereafter. When I mean emotional, I mean showing vulnerability - discussing insecurity. Popularity on youtube isn't related to the validity of an arugment either. You're not going to convince people otherwise.

holy moly, this is such as "I am great" post. Anyway, women, just like men, don't care how long or how much you lift. They care about the results. If you look fit and have good shape then they find you more sexually appealing. uhh ok. I think you and I might differ here. You think obesity is a male problem? Or perhaps you think the media already shames a lot of women into weight loss? my issue with self improvement is that women don't do encourage it enough with each other .
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/19 05:16 AM

okay fair enough. I just haven't seen it in real life. I've had to do it with male friends who are scared of admitting they're fat or have mental illnesses. They just hide I find women support each other at the expense of criticism. They tell each other they're perfect and avoid criticizing each other. I also meant for self-improvement. I just thought I was quote Brene Brown. " What Brown also discovered in the course of her research is that, contrary to her early assumptions, men's shame is not primarily inflicted by other men. Instead, it is the women in their lives who tend to be repelled when men show the chinks in their armor. "Most women pledge allegiance to this idea that women can explore their emotions, break down, fall apart—and it's healthy," Brown said. "But guys are not allowed to fall apart." Ironically, she expla…

you're definitely wrong. The vast majority of women don't like men to be emotional. They just like a certain dose of it on their terms at their time. THere are a ton of men who have mentioned losing relationships with others when they shared private emotional turmoil. Even the expert Brene Brown mentioned this in one of her article.. We can argue the proportion but women DO NOT LIKE MEN TO BE VULNERABLE. It's a romantic hollywood propagation. https://www.theatlantic.com/sexes/archive/2013/04…

I"m a federalist. ALthough I"m not sure I got that dichotomy right. I find your honesty refreshing. It's fascinating that you shared your student loan debt becuase there are women who don't share that number before getting married. I"m surprised that men don't ask either. I want to ask you though. Suppose the guy/girl had a medical condition. Say it was something stigmatizing but not necsarrily burdesome like a diabetic pump or prosthetic leg. Should you tell that person?

hey I agree with being direct in principle. but I can tell you from personal experience that meeting a woman in real life is so completely different than any conversation I've had on chats. I remember being enamored by this beautiful mid twenties pharmacist. She was clever and witty but in person, she didn't laugh. She would smile and cutely respond but NOT LAUGH. It drove me nuts. I've also met a woman who didn't disclose being a single mother (dealbreaker at the time) . She was so rational, cl…

i see your viewpoint but suppose a female bumble profile had a ton of closeups of a woman. They're attractive closeups but you as a man know that there's a good chance this woman is obese or overweight. This consideration is important in deciding to pursue any relationship with her. Should your first line be "send me a full body photo?" . I think most would agree that's it's personal, invasive and with a little grace you could have gotten the answer later on.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/12/19 04:30 AM

maybe divide questions up in small bits? or ask them later? I find the women who ask these type of questions are of the ones with the mentality "I don't have time for games". Of course, when I go on a date with them they have the most convoluted system of dealbreakers and rules such as "he must work but spend one weekend a month going to nice restaurants". I guess it's the direct mentality of asking a lot and not having any persepctive that's there's another person there. THat other person might…

i don't call it wasting time if someone tries to get to know me before making a list of sterile questions for me to pass their "filter". yea, i think we agree. i meant it in the etiquette of being polite etc..It didn't "ruffle me'. I get a TON OF THESE MESSAGES. I certainly don't disagree feminism is wrong. It has brought a lot of change. for the betterment of women. It becomes problematic when when feminism simplifies issues by using buzzwords like toxic masculinity, manspreading, mansplalining, emotional labor to simplify issues. You find it gross and creepy and demonize male sexuality. Not all women feel the same way. Where did you find out he has a shady behavior ? is there more to this guy? This is a classic example of demonizing male sexuality. why can't a man admire the female form and make a living from it? It's funny because some feminists ask for destigmatization of sex work. Feminists say why can't a sex worker has a normal healthy relationship and separate work from their personal life. Here's the opposite and these women call the man a creep

I'm not asking feminists to make a comic for men's issues. I'm sure if men did make one it would be seen as misogynistic or a demonstration of male entitlement. My point isn't to highlight a men's issue or to dismiss a woman's issue. My point is that the comic is creating an issue that's imbalanced that doesn't' illuminate but rather obfuscates real relationships. I think your assumption is reasonable. Projecting gender views on the other is almost never successful. Partners need to communicate boundaries. BTW women do this too but not for sex. . Women often try to coerce into discussing issues emotionally or on a level that provides no benefit to the men but for the women instead. They pretend that all men would benefit from overtly expressing every emotion at once. It often is of no benefit to men but only serves women

In my early 20s I was overweight and desired more "conventionally" attractive women. The few dates I'd get were always with women with certain issues or trying to attain some validation. None would last. Many of these women later told me "I wasn't their type" . I had to find out indirectly they didn't like fat/chubby/curvey/big guys -- whatever the terms are for men I switched over to women who had more mass (i.e weighed more) and definitely got more dates. However, I felt at most I got to the…

Agreed. But that terrible life choice isn't a car accident or a debt. It has a permanent lifelong effect - a child. Women in their 20s can't plead ignorance , especially in Western societies, that contraception wasn't an option. Making bad choices in their 20s is natural but it doesn't imply you shouldn't face the consequences. A man may get caught underage drinking at 19 but that doesn't mean he shouldnt' face consequences. would you date a man who became paralyzed after getting into a drunk dr…

I am very much in the middle. I was raised by a single mother . My dad was abusive physically and withheld his financial support growing up. We were better off living without him. My mom still beats herself up for the bad judgment she had for choosing him but she is a good person and all her kids are high end professionals. She showed amazing character to raise a good family. I think a lot of men, including me, don't like dating single mothers. It's not because they are mothers which is repuls…

Your logic is way too simplistic and based on evolutionary principles that don't apply any longer. For one, those with the highest SES are the ones with the fewest kids. SES--> more money on clothes, appearances --> more attraction --> better mate selection. So ugly guys will not die at any point ever. The better argument is which culture will predominate and be dominant. Will the white male be considered less attractive vs Asian men? Secondly, men's attraction is highly variable on race more th…

so your rationalization is that MOST men are indeed , objectively ugly. That seems more plausible than women simply are too judgmental based on looks. Your reasoning is that evolution has never allowed women to select based on looks while men were given the option before? I think your argument is too simplistic. It's amazing that women can think that media create crazy beauty standards for attraction. These standards demand so much of women and it hurts women. However, men don't have any societa…

I am new to this group, but I find anyone (male or female) brag about how much they drink to be incredibly off-putting.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
