The Army are usually considered the grunts, do a lot of the ground and leg work on things. They also accept a much broader range of applicants. Things like having a felony, lack of education, and even sometimes medical conditions get waived and you're allowed in. The Navy and Air Force are usually next as far as restrictiveness, with certain jobs requiring very high scores on tests to be allowed into them.
