Fun thing is I am allready doing all of what you listed here. Even the pushups in my home, setting myself arbitrary but unskippable pushup scores (did that sentence make sense? You have done well for yourself, you can be proud. And yes, she wasted away her life and tries to sweep the shards under the rug now... sad thing is that it might work for her because her field has high entry level salary Edit: If she gets the job that is. I hope she does, since she's family and all, but it just goes to show how women can live and get away with it

She has worked as secretary, and as a waitress, even as lab assistant at the university, but never a job in her field that she "studied" for. Shes at university for 12 years now and suddenly she has the urge to finish her masters and apply for a job at her field, since, you know, party life is gone.

In science theories are alive when they are unsolved. Like the Gay-Lussac Experiment for instance; People allways figured that particles moved like billard balls, and could theoretically move back the same way, but this was not the case with a gas evacuating from a container and people suddenly cared about this problem a lot. All of a sudden statistical thermodynamics explained that it is very well possible but so unlikely that it will never happen. Problem solved, topic dead.

Sad thing is that it reminds me of my sister *and* my mom, who both have issues drinking (especially in their youth... you get the point) and have a serious inability of taking responsibility for ruining their life. My sister turned 30 last year and guess what? Now she's applying for a full time job in her field for the first time after an all-out party life and gaining weight. The red pill starts to work on me!

I am new to this sub and genuinly interested in learning, but what is it with hamsters here? I haven't found any explanation for it so I figured I'd just go ahead and ask. I've googled but people treat this term everywhere as common knowledge. From what I've gathered it has something to do with addiction to instant gratification...?
