To be honest I don't really object to it. I just don't see why it should replace Toxic masculinity when they basically mean the same thing. Sure it might cover the negative aspects of the original term but I don't think those negative aspects are actually inherent to the word. Again I think the Term Toxic Masculinity by itself isn't offensive or Sexist. People certainly use it that way sometimes but only in a reactionary way, (sadly). People who use the term in an actual dialogue don't see it as…

Toxic men sounds a bit nicer but I don't think it works as a good replacement for the term. Good men can be effected by toxic masculinity by bottling up their emotions and dealing with this by drinking/drugs/other ways of sedating oneself. This is toxic masculinity effecting an otherwise good man. To place the term Toxic man on people like him seems even more toxic because it implies he as a whole is toxic rather than some aspects of the way he manages his life. Also I don't want to be that guy …

If you read one of my replies to you you'd know that I don't really feel the need to cling to the term I'd be just as happy with another one. I just see it as a term that's already established and can/has created positive dialogue for mens rights. You also didn't at all point out any flawed thinking in my previous argument. I don't see how "notions of toxic masculinity" over "toxic masculinity" is better when masculinity inherently has subsets. There are types of behaviors that are attributed to…

There's nothing about the term by itself that implies men as a group are toxic. It can be used to do that but nothing about the term itself inherently implies that. Think of it this way, a subset of Rum is spiced rum. By using the term spiced rum instead of Rum with Spiced aspects, am I implying that all rum is spiced? No I'm not.

Also I don't really see the argument for promoting "Toxic notions of masculinity" over just regular "toxic masculinity" gender can be expressed in many different ways, toxic masculinity doesn't mean all types of masculinity are toxic. It refers to a specific subset of masculinity.

I mean yeah, ideally we could find some other buzzword to label this problem that would be great! But tbh, as a man I don't find the isolated term to be all that sexist and offensive. When used in the context of a reactionary feminist throwing it around when she's clearly just trying to be hateful towards men it is disgusting behavior with no thought behind it at all. With that aside I've also seen and met a lot of men who use the term to explain problems that they've had as a result of society …

I think there's two aspects to the term toxic masculinity that are often overlooked in both mens rights circles as well as feminist circles. The first being that when people think of the term they usually associate it in a patriarchal sense. You know, "men's behavior negatively affecting women" type schtick. However, it can be attributed to all types of social relationships. The relationships between Men and other Men, Men and children as well as inward thoughts towards the self. Toxic masculini…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
