Women can't have it both ways. Either you get asked out by guys you know... or guys you don't know. This whole "he has to be the perfect stranger" is fairy tale at best. Sorry if this is an unwanted lecture but it's the truth. I wish women would take it more of a compliment to be asked out by a guy they've known for some time. But it comes off as an insult apparently.

I wish women would be more consistent with their demands though. Like yeah I get if a guy is "hotter" than it's kind of common to give some slack but years and years of waiting for that "perfect" stranger to them out is time they'll never get back. In one of my comments, I offered the example of asking out a cute engineer friend on our way to our bus stops after work away from the office. It's a nice compromise. Ultimately I never did but these are good opportunities to look for.

It's not genetics bragging rights to have the baby of an "amazing genetics specimen" and said amazing genetics specimen is not involved with parenthood. When girls try to marry into a successful family with a child that's some other guy's child, all of the relatives of the guy can say have opinions about that. Why isn't she with that guy's relatives? Even if the guy's a deadbeat himself, that is something for them to deal with. Not some guy who had no involvement with the pregnancy.

While that's very possible... I find it very aggravating that they ask me this in the middle of the workweek.. because they happen to not be working like a standard 40 hours a week like many of us do. Even if I work form home 60% of the time, I'm just not willing to wake up that early. Good breakfasts are for the weekend. Not Tuesday morning.

One of the things I'm noticing(this may be off topic) when I've tried online dating is girls... seem obsessed with my cooking. Like my cooking for breakfasts... I work 40 hours a week... thankfully at home. But I start work at 7 am. I'm not getting up at 6 am to cook a "big breakfast"... I'm just not. And on weekends I sleep in. Even when you give them an inch with pictures of your dinner cooking, they ask for a mile and ask you if you cooked a great breakfast and lunch. Do they do the same? Or …

There's so much value to alternatives to things like hikes(like yeah I guess you can't dress up to those but just the feeling of being in the outdoors). I guess the correlation of girls not knowing how to cook and eating out a lot has escalated.

I haven't dated in a while but yeah... the obsession about going out to eat is disappointing. It's expensive and sometimes small/big(but generally small) portions for the price you pay versus cooking at home. If you live together, it's fine to get food that's quick/easy to prepare like microwaveable food since it's still overall cheaper than eating out so often. I commented on youtube recently saying if you want to commit to good exercise and diet, you'll probably have to give up on eating out s…

Women have very disappointing opinions about genetics. Like yeah they are your kid(s) but still the guy's kid(s) too. Even if she can marry into a "stable rich guy" or something, the kids will always be the first guy's kids. The kids will know this and lies don't change genetic history. It's perfectly reasonable a guy doesn't want to raise another guy's kids. That's why we keep trying to push for married couples to remain when kids are involved. "Genetic jackpot" doesn't mean anything if the kid…

I have this theory that girls growing up with brothers/cousins helps with their development. It doesn't always work with a close guy friend in childhood. I know a girl who denied this but after getting to know her for so long, I started seeing more red flags. She has standards/expectations of guys that none of them are interested in measuring up to. I mean you judge a guy for not going out every week? He's not interested in driving around town because you don't have a plan on what to do.

I've got a high school friend that apparently took 9ish years to get her physics degree(and brags she was eligible for a PhD program of sorts) but boxed herself in by marrying a guy. She's unemployed while her engineer husband makes 6 figures. Takes care of cats and actively looks down on anyone wanting to have kids. She apparently made no effort to move out of her parents house before her husband(they moved in together while dating beforehand) because she didn't want to get her own place or mor…

Agreed! My high school friend has that among her several piercings and I'm just at a loss. Say what you will about the guy but what would his parents say about this? The awkwardness is a bit much. I get annoyed when women say they speak for all women for things like piercings. How many women like video games and don't have piercings(besides earrings at best)? I want to say many of us are fairly tolerant. We'll allow different colored hair, tattoos, and other things but piercings just cross a lin…

I know a girl who "embraced" gaming for a bit because it was a needed component to date the guy after 2 dates with me. They dated for 6ish years and she would say "time wasted". The only game she could say about playing was guitar hero. Not saying guitar hero isn't a game but it's more of a glorified music player for her with optional gameplay. She was dating a guy younger than our high school class because the rest of us guys were "immature". But I'd say many of us and eventually me had legit i…

If I could, I would have the same conversation with my daughter if that happens for me(having a daughter and getting married). Other than earrings, I just feel like piercings are rather unnecessary and a direct choice. It's not like genetics that you can't change without planning. I would consider tattoos a grey area based on location and the subject. I'm a little biased because I like art. I feel like makeup, fitness, long hair, and clothes are poor ways to compensate for piercings. That maybe …

I've got a high school friend with so many piercings and tattoos despite it making her less and less conventionally attractive. She's got this entitled demand that she should be considered more attractive from her more effort into her appearance compared to other women that do significantly less(but they're working full time jobs and have other responsibilities in their life that aren't being single moms). Work smarter and not harder. I've tried telling her the makeup and fitness... doesn't comp…

What is with women and tats/piercings? I mean yeah in this example it's just tattoos but it's a recurring pattern of guys not wanting to date girls with at least piercings. Tats are a grey area sometimes(depending on location). When I tell girls I donate blood, they sometimes think it's "disgusting" but at least the marks on my arm only need a simple explanation. It would never get me in trouble with an employer the way tattoos and piercings might.

I was reading this facebook post about how the two bedroom apartment affordable by min wage should be the "standard" for Americans. I pointed out that these single parents don't speak for all of us. I was met with criticism from the "single, divorced women" which proves my point. I admit I have some friends that are single parents but they each have their own individual cases.

Exactly. Better to spend time on fitness/health/hair when possible first... I can accept and support woman not using makeup or focusing on clothes. They'd probably save themselves time and money if they work this stuff out first. We only have so much time in the world. Best to use it wisely.

I've tried implying to women that makeup and outfits should never be used to compensate for figure/hair/smile/youth. Only to add to what they already have. It's a harsh truth but a needed one.

A woman that enjoys things like hikes get more attractive everyday than someone who demands expensive dinner dates. If there was actual buildup to the first date and the guy/girl knew each other for years(doesn't necessarily have to be childhood friends), an expensive first date has some justification. It's a big thing. But girls don't make the effort to date guys they've known for years. It doesn't have to be attraction the entire time either. Women are crazy for wanting a guy they barely know …

Women can't have it both ways. They can't demand to not pressed into a relationship but then complain a guy is boring after a while of talking online. At least us guys try to talk to them in a way that there's less commitment but "no it's wrong". Expensive first dates aren't the way to go. We aren't giving them money for their feelings to get in the way.

This possibly extends to relatives like nephews, nieces, or someone in your bloodline(if you're truly that generous) but not a complete stranger's kid. Women don't hit the jackpot with good genetics to their kids the way they think they do. But alas they never learn from their bad mistakes...

Do women even live up to the standards of the guys they pursue? As we've all said before you can't hold a guy accountable for genetics he can't control. And neither do us guys towards girls. As I've said in another thread, clothes/makeup should never be used to compensate for what a girl lacks. They should exercise first and then go from there. It's just wasting time and money. "Looking good without makeup/clothes" is a thing all girls can learn from. "Athletic with a stable job"... is possible …

I've got a high school friend that's really into piercings for her face... but really loves celebrities like James McAvoy. Or this random doctor who was treating her. Would they look nearly as good if they had piercings too? Even if they deep down wanted piercings, I'm sure they still are pressured to be "perfect". I get that people have their own tastes for their appearances but the double standard is a bit much. Even a part of me only slightly tempted to have green hair but I pull myself back …
/r/WhereAreAllTheGoodMen18/06/21 05:21 PM

This is why I wish women would accept things like context above appearances. That lying to cover up the truth isn't cool. No one is perfect and we all had to come from somewhere. Maybe us guys would be a lot more "interesting" if the pressure of work, career, income, etc. wasn't shoved down our throats from the beginning. Or maybe if we moved out of parents' house when we were good and ready instead of "as soon as possible".

It's not coincidence some of the best adjusted children and then adults had their parents together. I get sometimes husbands and wives can sometimes take advantage of this and maybe the divorce was sadly necessary but... sometimes we get way too many relationships that either shouldn't have started or the woman just wanted too much.

Sorry if this was mentioned in another comment but I got a question. How serious was she with these guys that proposed to her? How long were they dating? I'm still kind of new here but if she didn't know these guys that well... it makes sense for her to turn down marriage proposals... But your point still stands there must have been some guys that were worthwhile in all of this... 12 years later is a big bit of time to be single by the end of it.

I'm happy this worked out for you! Ultimately in our attempts to be better... to look for better... we should recognize the potential for people to be more than meets the eye in time. To be forgiving of faults(not saying he or you had any. Just no one's perfect). Good decent people generally ask for what is important first but things can change with time. So I don't know if women know this but I associate short hair with my mom, aunts, and grandmothers. I'm not interested in dating a girl that gives me that subconscious association. Maybe if I dated a girl that became my wife and mother of my children... maybe(but I still like long hair on a girl)... but I just don't see the point in a girl getting short hair this early on. Maybe some women have found this to be a "life hack" of sorts but... is it? I feel like girls are fighting an uphill battle …

I feel like women are never as desperate as they think they are. Lazy? Probably. They don't want to plan the first date but throw hints at the guy. Instead of having actual conversations with guys, it's so much emphasis on their own clothes. They have a high standard on how guys should dress(until they are desperate) and insist they need to look attractive... to attract guys. But ultimately a lot of guys don't really seem to care about clothes and hardly use that as a metric when comparing girls…

So women like to have short hair... because it's easier to maintain. But the thing with me(and possibly other guys) is I associate short hair with family members and relatives. My mom, I think all of my aunts, my grandmothers... Women put us men to rough standards in the meantime like appearances(fitness I can understand somewhat but clothes is just a waste of time) but heaven forbid we recommend they just don't look like our family members and relatives. A nice body and long hair does wonders. …

A classmate of mine defended this... something about a wife that handles all of the housework and raises the kids(but I feel like this is a bait and switch where the couple get married but the wife says no kids afterwards). It would then recreate the envisioned "wholesome grandmother vibe" later on. Emotional support can only go so far. Relationships have always been about money in some way. Us guys shouldn't expect less for ourselves.

You truly are a man of dignity and decent. Good guys are out there but they have principles. Kudos to finding your wife.

Wholeheartedly agree. At the end of the days it's just clothes you have to maintain constantly if you're really going out so much. But fitness? That's eternal. Hell women should take this advice too. Clothes and makeup should never be used to compensate for physical shortcomings. Having genetic shortcomings does garner sympathy but simply putting extra weight not tied to muscles/bones? Hell no. We all have limited time... I respect a woman that chooses fitness over clothes/makeup with the time s…

Attractive =/= decent. Clothes are just part of the person and people are so much more than appearances. I don't see the point in trying to get to know someone through dates(expensive or not but definitely uses up time)... if you can avoid it. Entitlement issue... despite the fact they expect guys to be in top shape. It gets frustrating when you work out and need the time to do so. But women don't understand this and think you're just making excuses. "Just do cardio" is not a thing. It's a fool's game to expect cardio to work wonders.

I got to almost 160 while being 5'6" during this pandemic. I've made a conscious effort to be 147ish and I want to get get to 142-145 at some point. Better to lose weight when earlier than later. I do exercise so that accounts for some of my weight.

To me it's about balance between accomplishments and... I guess overall health? Insisting on one thing over the other to an extreme level isn't good for anyone. So it's understandable if a woman can't make a lot of money and be a 10 but effort in both areas is fine.

I had a former high school friend that was around 21 dating a around 28 year old guy around 2012(my numbers may be off but my point still stands). I don't know if she's still dating him but all good things can come to an end. Women insist on dating guys older than them even though they personally may not have accomplished much compared to their older counterparts... because "I'm young". As long as both the guy and girl consent , then it's not a problem. Though women do run the risk of their olde…

"The stress from her job has consumed her." Us guys get stressed even when we don't have good jobs because of... "expectations". We don't get a choice. "Now she requires several high effort dates and impeccable charisma and commitment..." With guys they barely know, right? Because it's all part of the mystery? It would help women if women would at least communicate what they'd like but they don't even do that too sometimes. I hate this post. Us guys are stable because we put the effort into it a…

It's all about context. While a guy can't live with his parents forever, if he's 1. making a lot of money during the situation and saving it 2. had a temporary setback like this and needs to save money 3. or any other amount of reasons, then that's life. Image isn't everything. Sometimes you got to live life on where you are and not what you think is "proper". Women grow up with friends in their lives... usually women... but sometimes men. What they fail to do with men is 1. initiate conversations 2. respond back to conversations(especially with texting).
