Oh my god lol. Did you not read my last sentence in my original post? I said she didn't and that in this situation she shouldn't face any punishment, saying you're going to accuse someone of rape is free speech even as shitty as it is. But the original comment seemed like it was downplaying false rape accusations in general. That was my entire point the whole time. So yes we can end this conversation.

Not at all, that's ridiculous. That discourages actual rape victims from coming forward. Punishment should be given when the defendant (or anyone involved in the case) can prove that the accuser is making the claim maliciously or for ulterior motives. For example in this situation, if this woman actually went to the police and accused this guy of raping her, and he produced this video showing that she was making it up just to get back at him because he pissed her off then she should be punished.…

Many times in false rape accusations it ends up being the accused having to prove that they didn't do it instead of the accuser proving they did. You're living in a fantasy land if you don't think that's the truth. You don't even have to dig deep to find examples, just look at the big false rape accusations over the past few years like the Duke lacrosse one. That's why it's such a big deal. If a woman goes to the police and says she was raped by me, I'm the one who has to prove that I did not ra…

Yeah that's what my last sentence was saying. She just made a passing comment. No reason something she said when she was pissed off that she didn't actually follow through on should get her in legal trouble. Just clarifying, because to me it seemed like the guy was saying that false rape accusations in general aren't a big deal. I think I misunderstood his comment though.

You don't think it should be a crime to falsely accuse someone of something so hard to prove? When 90% of the time the burden of proof falls on the accused in rape cases? False accusations are a really big deal. Having no legal repercussions for it doesn't really do anything to discourage it, and sadly it's become an issue in our society today. Granted I think her passing comment isn't a big deal lol. It's actual false accusations that matter.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
