| 1 | Are women really hypergamous ?If you look at it from the evolutionary psychology perspective, women who favored and chose the attractive, masculine, wealthy, powerful, etc. partner for whatever reason were better at passing on their genes than the women who weren't. Selective pressure to be hypergamous and pressure against being "down-to-earth". I don't think hypergamy originated from a place of higher thinking (e.g. risk management, identifying potential outcomes, etc.) but by pure chance.
