Doesn't he say specifically to hug on first date? The handshake is likely for someone you meet for the first time in real life. Tinder=date.

Yeah if you've never even met her it would be outrageous if you just put your arm around her waist or isolated her from the start. She's going for your party to have fun, not to be claimed by you... open the door for everyone (even after she gets there) so you can introduce yourself to her first in a casual way and not on a holy-shit creepy level.

Try watching the Southpark episode where Stan becomes a cynic. It's not bad to be one of us cynicals, just can be tiring when other people expect something else. There's nothing wrong with you. The fact you're concerned should be sign you're a good person with good intentions. I wish someone had told me that like 5 years ago.

Becoming a great listener can be just as powerful as being a great speaker. But maybe try talking this out with a therapist, sounds like you have something making you resist enjoyment, hopefully not depression and just some angst.
