I think that's exactly this, their careless, egotistic, narcissistic and self-centered existence offends me. Their "grow up only when it's too late" attitude gets on my nerves, absolutely.

I think you add a new element in this which is the lack of options available to men of any age, which leads to this resentment towards even irresponsible women having more options than them.

I agree with your original post. I think it's accurate. That's how I personally feel. For the distinction, I think most men can tell whether that's a careless woman or a woman who tried her best and it didn't qork out, so there's definitely a hierarchy of single mothers.
