Let's say you're eligable to 20-40% of your ex husband's/wife's income for 3-9 months if you haven't had a full time job in the past 7-10 years (and have been married for those years). (I made these number ranges up, they aren't based on anything yet.) The problem arises again when the earner in the old family loses part/all of their income. I'm sure it can be implemented in a better way but I'm more for abolishing it entirely. The only problem is since they don't sell your data or show ads (in one form or another) you'll have to run them on your own machine or pay for someone else's.
