What in the hell is a developer evangelist? One of a myriad of different, peripherally related positions to technical work held by people not actually competent to do the work (usually). That is, if you are really interested in going to conventions and want to pad your resume with the latest buzzword-y techs and be associated with some hip group of people, you become an evangelist, maven, guru, "chaos pilot" or similar. Bonus points if you can do a play on words that includes your race or gender…

I could but our version of libertarians are rabidly anti-left and would sooner feed the poor into a wood-chipper than give them any "handouts" whatsoever. They also see no problem with mass-immigration to drive down labour costs to undermine the unions. In fact, of all the causes I mentioned, our libertarians support none of them. So voting libertarian would be no better than voting for the current muppets in office. They both violently oppose everything that makes a stable society a possibility…

I think we're facing much the same problem as the US conservatives were when the religious nutter right-wingers took over the republican party during Reagan and Bush Sr. We've become voters without a party. As a somewhat left of center voter myself, my main causes are labour rights, consumer rights, Peelian principles in policing and incarceration and a more restrictive immigration policy focusing on helping refugees and maintaining a functioning welfare state.
