You get to learn a lesson early. I learned about personality disorders in my 40s. Read "Psychopath Free" by Jackson Mackenzie, and avoid what happened to me.

Yeah. I made a post about it here the other day, but apparently this kind of thing gets posted so often that they don't allow it here any more. I do care. They're not only completely wrong about their reasoning, but it's none of their business where I have posted anyway. In what other ways is reddit going to try and control our opinions? Taking men's rights away by banning them because they belong to a men's rights sub. Good tactic numbskulls. You're much more like Trump and hate groups than I a…

I was banned by two womens subreddits at once. I assume because the moderator works for both. The moderator misunderstood what I meant, and assumed the worst of me. I explained the mistake, but they still banned me anyway because they couldn't admit they were mistaken. It's pretty toxic behavior, and reminds me of r/thedonald in the way that it protects a certain mindset from being challenged, and makes a stance appear more popular than it is. Whatever. You don't have to look hard to find a rock…

To me he just sounds like someone who overheard their conversation and decided that he would move instead of making them uncomfortable.

Nobody believed me when I told them my story. They just stopped talking to me as if I was going crazy. The only good thing is that now I can often identify concerning psychopathic behavior in others. Of course, people still think I'm crazy if I say anything.

Thats exactly what it is. There are bears, men, and women in the wilderness already. I think you might find that women tend to choose the men to hang out with rather than the bears. Or other women. Or chipmunks. Or nobody.

It's important to note that cultures are different. Life in America is different for instance than life in Mexico. Yet I've noticed that America seems to brainwash all women once they cross the border.

If you truly are a nice caring guy, you're also a target for people with cluster b personality disorders.

Exactly. There are more than just those two options. I'm in my 50's. Those two options have NEVER worked for many people. That age-old advice of getting a hobby, and living an interesting life still holds as true as ever. You have to get out of this self-perpetuating mindset that dating apps and books about approaching women are the only options. Do things that allow you to present your best qualities. Dating apps don't do that unless your best quality is how you look. I can't imagine anything m…

There are some opinions that I don't agree with here, but I've been treated like so much shit over the past couple of years because I'm a man. I've also listened to the criticisms of men and have bettered myself when I feel it's appropriate to do so. I'm liberal minded and forward thinking. I'm progressive. I do adapt and change for what I perceived to be a better version of myself. It makes no difference. I get the brunt of the hate meant for others. Meanwhile, the men and women thriving in thi…

I was banned from the NPD sub because I disagreed with pseudoscientific therapy methods. I can't remember what the therapy was (this was years ago), but I was merely trying to bring people back to earth. Obviously the snake oil promoter wasn't banned and allowed to keep spouting harmful nonsense. Anyway. Most people there don't pay much attention to abused men. I lost friends - almost all of them. Years later, and with no help from anywhere, I've just kinda settled into never being ok again (and…

Requesting handyman skills in dating profiles. Lady, for the last few years of my marriage I was nothing but an unpaid handyman.

A bartender gave me a hug the other day. It was the first hug I'd had in a year.

I'm an older guy. I often head out for a beer after work on a Friday or Saturday, usually late in the evening to avoid the youngsters. One night I was at the same bar I always go to, only this time the place was packed with students from a local university. I sat at the bar. I was pretty much ignored by everyone, which was fine. Eventually I needed a pee, so I walked up the bathroom. On the way a women half my age walked up to me and said hi. She was drunk and that's literally all she said. She …

Rage bait writer. This is nothing more than an example of how stuff that makes you mad gets lots of attention.

As a 52 year old man. No. Also as a 52 year old guy - I've noticed the porn performance sex thing too. I was even called boring by someone 15 years younger because I wasn't doing any porn-sex type thing. Yeah...like, I'm not sure you're ready for that ma'am.

Dude, forget about whether you closed or not and give yourself a pat on the back for getting out there. You don't know these women, so there's absolutely no reason to treat the experiences as negative in any way.

Creative? It's literally the least creative opener in the world. That's why it makes me cringe so hard.

Trust me, as an older guy this would never work. People have been making fun of the star sign opener for decades - half a century even. My guess is that everyone who thinks this is an okay opener is a youngster or credits the opener when it didn't matter what was said.

Forgive me, but this actually seems to be a crap conversation starter. I'm not saying it doesn't work as a basic "in", but Jesus - how can something so simple make me cringe so hard? You could have just said anything, and almost everything would be better than relying on star signs to make a connection. It's like you're throwing the brown stuff at a fan and hoping some of it sticks. I guess if anything, you've proved one thing to me. Women don't care what you say, just that you try.

I think there's some confusion over your use of the word "closing". To me it has nothing to do with getting contact info. If anything, getting social media info just as likely a way of making someone go away. Closing to me is making it to first base - which would be done in person.

It's clear from a lot of the posts that not many people are in a different mindset to OP. As a non-pick-up artist, I just browse for little tips to improve my social skills. The pick-up-artist stuff makes me cringe my vertebrae out of alignment, which makes being social more difficult.

Ugh. Stop being drawn into stupid shit like this. It's just someone looking for attention.
