She has said several times that she admires Maggie Thatcher -- supporter of Pol Pot. Why am I in the wrong? Don't shoot the messenger.

Anyone who "respects" Maggie Thatcher = dumb-ass. Look, I understand realpolitik, but supporting Pol Pot is a tad much. Surely I can appreciate Maggie for not playing the victim card, but supporting Pol Pot is far beyond anything I can justify.

I think Karen Straughan is terrific on the subject of men's rights. But her politics are disgusting, horrifying. This is probably because (as she herself admits) she doesn't like to read books. Poor dear doesn't have the slightest idea what is going on.

This is actually a pretty profound idea: the ability to move. As for "pure" democracy, I'm not sure there is any such thing. But moving, yeah, sure, I don't see the problem, in an "ideal" society.

If you find anarchism a more viable political solution than democracy, you haven't met enough anarchists. According to Noam Chomsky, anarchism is the "closest you can get to democracy." I'm not sure "pure" democracy is tenable in this day and age, but luckily we have the ability to move.

This view was summarized in the feminist Canadian documentary "Not a Love Story." It suggested that males are weirdos who lust after progressively more extreme porn. Turns out most of the people who lust after extreme porn are women. ;)

Men apparently don't like to fight on behalf of men "as a class". But we sure as hell should fight on behalf of boys. It's the right thing to do.

get beyond the stage of imagining him as a comic-book hero. Orwell was just a man. A man with whom I disagree on fundamental political issues. I do however find it interesting that the three greatest authors of dystopian literature -- Orwell, Huxley and Kafka -- were all sympathetic to anarchism. Only Orwell settled for "democratic socialism" -- Huxley and Kafka opted for anarchism.

individual young men punch-drunk on political manifestos to go to Catalonia It was a thirst for freedom and justice. I find it utterly repulsive that you would impugn that tendency amongst humans, both male and female, considering that you benefit from it. The war in Catalonia was everyone's war, not "someone else's war." That is what you fail to understand. gossipy memoir Fuck right off you entitled bitch. The "strategy" of ignoring feminists has obviously failed. People of all political persuasions are only now waking up, rubbing the sleep from their eyes and realizing that they allowed a Frankenstein monster to coalesce. Leftists assumed that feminism was a legitimate human rights movement on par with worker's rights and civil rights. Conservatives assumed they could just keep telling men to "man up." Having said that, I'm not sure it is useful to give attention to Dave Futrelle in particular. W…

That's a false equivalence imo. It is true that some people were coerced and even killed by the anarchists. But many peasants were literally starving to death and were treated as virtual slaves by landowners, the church and the army. VASTLY more people were killed by capitalists in any given year prior to the anarchist revolution than by anarchists during the revolution. “Except for the small revolutionary groups which exist in all countries, the whole world was determined upon preventing revolu…

This woman has TWO SONS. How sad is that. Evidently not every mother is a "momma bear"; some women really don't give a shit about their offspring and would just as soon eat them like a fucking gerbil. The anarchists in Spain represented about 4-5ths of the population. The peasants were virtually slaves. The "insurgency" consisted of fascists backed by Nazis and tacitly supported by the West (eg Roosevelt allowed US corporations to send Franco oil while strictly enforcing the arms embargo against the Republic). Later, just as they did in Russia, the communists turned against the anarchists. It isn't surprising that a loathsome feminist like yourself regards it "stupid" to fight for human right…

Feminism and Marxism have always been pretty intimately linked. Actually, feminism was started by wealthy Christian racist conservative women. Orwell spent a lot of time with Marxists during the Spanish Civil war The Marxists were as much to blame for the failure of the Spanish Republic as the Fascists and liberal democrats. All three power blocs aligned against the anarchists. You can read about this in Orwell's best non-fiction work, Homage to Catalonia. Orwell was sympathetic to anarchism but…

Gendered roles, activities, expectations and behaviours are assigned to females and males by society. I can't believe they're actually still teaching this stuff. You should reject the premise of the questionnaire as non-scientific. Check out the documentary the "gender equality paradox" on youtube.

But the problem with affirmative actions is that we have no knowledge about where the equality point is, therefore we can't stop at the right point. True enough. But there's an additional problem: we could unwittingly create a new oppressed class. That's exactly what the latest data in the UK indicates. Since feminists posit that "white males" are "in power" (an absurd notion -- since 99.9% of white males have no power whatsoever) they are becoming the new disadvantaged group. By divorcing the i…

She is a very left-leaning social liberal or socialist. I hang out with left-leaning women and have had sex with a few. No problems. I don't think political ideology per se is a good indicator of whether a woman will make a false accusation. Conservative women presumably do so with some frequency, especially during divorces. However this may indeed be changing (I'm in my thirties) now that feminism has basically destroyed the left. Increasingly, people on the "left" don't even talk about class -…

This interview confirms my belief that she will basically come to the conclusion that "both sides have valid points" and that we "need more dialogue." Which is fine. It's a hundred times better than any previous portrayal of the MRM. No wonder Dave Futrelle is pissing himself. The problem of course is that this approach could end up embracing the fallacy of the golden mean. The truth is not always "in the middle". It also needs to be stressed over and over again that feminism is the establishmen…

This is why affirmative action doesn't work. You can't solve discrimination by creating new forms of discrimination. There was a case recently of a white male poet getting rejected for publication; he resubmitted his work under an Asian name and voila -- accepted. Identity politics does not create unity between different groups -- it exacerbates division. This is presumably why elites are so fond of intersectional feminism. So long as we don't focus on that pesky class issue...

spinning it as the fault of the feminist bogeyman. I very much doubt that the filmmaker is going to present feminists as "the bogeyman." She herself is a self-identified feminist. It does however look like she is going to fairly portray the MRM, which (judging from the media pieces written about us) feminists find unacceptable. And none of what you've just listed is contradictory. That's true. But the reason the definitions are so fluid is that each can be easily debunked. When one is debunked, a feminist will just move on the next one. How can you effectively argue against a movement when you fail to grasp their most basic concepts? Patriarchy theory at it's core is simply the idea that society and culture are male dominated, male centred, and male minded. You can't blame people for "misunderstanding" patriarchy theory when the definition changes every five minutes. I've seen various feminists argue that patriarchy is "rule of the father in the home"; a system "designed to privilege men at the expense of women"; a system in wh…

The man was not the victim. Of course he was. If a man was abusing a woman would you cease to call her a victim if she fought back from time to time? It's easy for you to lecture people from your place of privilege but you've never been in a situation where attempting to escape an abusive household could land YOU in jail, with no access to your children. This is the nightmare that the Duluth model has created.

From the child's perspective, two physically violent parents are actually worse than one, and intervention was even more urgently required. As Karen pointed out, intervention would have almost certainly led to the abused party (the man) being arrested and no longer having contact with the child. Thus it would have been immoral for her to intervene. Men should not be seen as collateral damage in the fight against domestic violence. Also, given that she was the abusive party, and given that women …

Sargon misses the biggest one: ignorance. If you are taught in school that "women were oppressed by men throughout all of history!" it is very easy to conclude that feminism was or is necessary. The fact that most people in positions of overt power are men adds to the illusion that men are more powerful (especially if you have no understanding of class). Finally you have the white knighting impulse inherent to most men and the damselling impulse inherent to most women. I used to consider myself …

Absolutely. Feminism is a violent, authoritarian movement. We just don't recognize it as such because it uses proxy power (the state). Hopefully now that they are demanding censorship more people will begin to recognize the movement as an actual threat rather than a mere annoyance. Great post. Feminism has come full circle and returned to its Victorian roots (if it ever really left). Their ideas are far more infantilizing than anything teh 'patriarchy' ever came up with. She also mentioned that her usual supporters in the media are not helping her publicize the new documentary, which is a positive sign (but unfortunate for her funding prospects). MRC noted that the first event of the week-long series is called "The Macho Paradox: Why some men hurt and how all men can help." It is weird. You do not know this person, you know nothing about their past experiences, and you know nothing about their concerns. The thing to do is not to scare them off with your extreme feminist views but to show them you are a person worthy of their attraction, compassion, and affection. I'm starting to get really sick and tired of these arguments that women are given a pussy pass when they're sentenced for a crime. What's really happening is that you're being punished for being or identifying as a man. It's not one or the other. Men are regarded as having more agency/responsibility than women, and we are also more sympathetic to females in general (neoteny is probably a big part of this). I can't find the link, but there was a study done in either the late 90's or early 2000's that asked men what they though of women and vice versa. Both men and women rated women higher on almost every positive metric (creativity, kindness, empathy etc.). Men only got the edge on "confidence." Men did however rate themselves as equal to women on intelligence. TLDR; there is no evidence of widespread "misogyny", but there may well be a lot of misandry going around, including from men themselves.

You should probably read a history book when you have a chance. James Madison, the architect of the US constitution, was obsessed with the idea of protecting the "minority of the opulent." Nothing has changed. The goal of people in power is to stay in power. Identity politics serve that end. Certainly, this has nothing to do with the "left" ie people who want to help the poor and create more egalitarian power configurations.

This video was posted on another sub and has almost reached the Reddit front page. Hilariously, numerous posters are saying, "finally, a REAL feminist!" Technically I suppose they're right. If feminism was about equality of the genders then this is what feminists would actually sound like. Edit: it is now the front page (congrats Hannah). Unfortunately it been linked to by SRS so a brigade is incoming. Edit 2: Posters pointing out that she is an MRA are being down-voted, either because feminists…

Is this legal in Canada? I remember reading somewhere that feminists changed the charter to exclude males as a protected class under discrimination laws but I can't find the source.

Indeed. You pimpled-faced would-be "alpha males" are the joke of the internet, and we keep getting conflated with you clowns. If you had any dignity you would put out a blanket statement saying "We are NOT MRA's, just insecure teenagers" so the adults could get on with it.

Only redditors Actually, almost every single media hit piece on the MRM has falsely equated the MRM to theredpill/return of kings etc. So it's clearly an issue that needs to be addressed.

Interesting. Confirms my belief that she doesn't believe a goddamn thing she writes. She's basically just a mercenary. I assume the same is true of many other prominent feminists, whom we tend to regard as deranged, hysterical nuts rather than savvy (if psychopathic) businesswomen. Evidently they are nothing if not coldly calculating personalities. They don't mind ruining the lives of both men and women if they get some of that green stuff...

I actually agree with Marcotte on one point: Judgy Bitch engaged in some unfortunate apologetics on behalf of Jimmy Saville, who is basically now confirmed to have been a pedophile and necrophile, and may even have been involved in the murder of children. However, as the badgers point out, that is a class issue rather than a "patriarchy" issue -- non-elite females routinely get away with raping and even killing boys. Saville had close links to people at the highest levels of government, and was …

No begging allowed. But I agree the title is shite. So long as she acknowledges the distinction in the film itself (and the dishonest media portrayals) I'm okay with it. But she has not yet indicated that she will do so, and that's a big problem.

I think a legitimate case can be made for affirmative action -- back in the 70's. It is absurd to continue these policies now that women are already the advantaged sex in education. If affirmative action programs continue to exist they should be based on class, not sex or race.

Wow. I can't believe that is actually written into law; or better said, I can't believe that law is still on the books. It's like our entire society is determined to disadvantage males at every single stage of life.

I should clarify, it depends on the type of war. There were no women to be seen when men lined up to be slaughtered in WWI, for example. But the historical record is quite clear. The men and boys were slaughtered, the women and girls were "taken" and often raped. War brings out the absolute worst in human beings, that's just the way it is. Modern technology has lessened this pattern somewhat, but even today in eg the Congo you can see similar atrocities unfolding.

It is indeed childish to conflate MRA's with far right wing misogynist wackos, as the director has done. The issues are what matter. I agree. But the dominant media does not. Hence the controversy. I was reading the "Canada" twitter feed last night and literally three quarters of the female commentators were saying, "OMG, I'm moving to Canada! what a hottie!" Some of these commentators had the word feminist in their names. Is this wrong? No. Not at all. As Belfort Bax demonstrated in The Fraud of Feminism book: If a bias against women had existed, there wouldn't feminism. I agree. I've often said that the history of feminism disproves feminist theory. It's an incredible irony. As for what can be done, it may be well nigh impossible to eliminate gynocentrism. On the other hand, I DO believe that most women don't have the slightest clue about the male experience, and that it is indeed possible to at least considerably lessen the empathy gap.

I'm sure you can find numerous examples. But it's also important to remember that writing an article called "bash a violent bitch" in response to an article praising female DV is a far cry from advocating the murder and enslavement of the entire male gender. The latter is not only surprisingly common among feminists but prominent feminists whose work provides a major part of the syllabus in gender studies courses. Also, MRA's are punching up, whereas feminists are punching down.

Anything remotely associated with maleness is demonized. Feminists have even managed to take a term of endearment (brother, bro) used between males and stigmatized it. They refer to supposedly sexist tech guys as "brogrammers." They refer to left wing MRA's as "brosocialists" or "manarchists." They are experts at coming up with juvenile terms of derision for men while insisting that they be viewed as strong empowered adults. The children are in charge of the playground.

Feminist big brother. Big sister? Nanny state? Basically a bunch of man-hating busy bodies intent on harassing and abusing boys for sadistic pleasure. The state is only too happy to oblige, as it gives them ever-increasing power over society. Never forget that feminism is a fundamentally violent social movement. It exercises proxy power via the state to enact tyrannical laws against men and boys. We are blind to this because we view females as harmless victims.

The problem is that reddit is too leftist, and that seriously hurts their ability to fully commit to men's rights or even opposition to feminism. I don't view this particular issue as left/right. In fact one of the most common critiques of feminism I see in conservative circles amounts to, "Why don't you go to X country where you are actually needed?" Indeed. The interesting thing about Alison is that she understands that feminism harms women almost as much as it harms men -- yet she isn't a tradcon. It's important for women to understand that the MRM is not just about men. I care no more about the red pill than I do Cosmo magazine. It is pretty damn clear at this point that men are the more empathetic sex. Could you imagine an article written by a man celebrating Ted Bundy? Or praising some guy who sliced out a woman's vagina?

On the other hand, if masses of women were coming home in body bags then countries would be much less likely to go to war in the first place. We're interested in equality, right? Why not close the "dying horrible deaths" gap?

The idea that female rape victims will be too "traumatized" to go through proper legal procedures is not new. It was the exact same argument made by the Ku Klux Klan in justifying the lynching black men. The majority of lynchings were justified on the basis of false rape accusations.

Seriously. But I'll only donate on condition that they film everything. It'd be fucking hilarious.

So "teen" magazines have officially surpassed the mainstream media in terms of logical analysis. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Her goal is to downplay male victims and exaggerate female victims in defiance of the actual evidence. It's as simple as that. Feminists in Sweden recently (begrudgingly) opened up a male rape victim centre. The important point for feminists is to insist (despite all evidence) that females are the primary victims of X, Y and Z. They don't mind male victims being thrown a bone, so long as they are identified as outliers. Be not proud of your GF, young man. Educate her.

Some context is perhaps in order. During the 70's, the US backed an Argentine military junta which went on to torture and kill tens of thousands of civilians. Henry Kissinger was at the helm of the operation, as declassified documents reveal. Argentinian babies were literally ripped from their mothers arms -- then the mother tortured and executed -- if she was suspected of being a leftist. The plan was to ensure that children of the regime's victims – up to 30,000 of whom were killed – were brou…

Christopher Hitchen as a columnist agreeded to the iraq war Which demonstrated his utter moral bankruptcy. If Hitchens truly cared about "Western values" he would have cared about the rule of law. Hitchens valued atheism and anti-Islamism above morality and law, hence his profound disgrace. He will be remembered as a supporter of genocide. At least 4 million Muslims have been killed by Western and Israeli imperial interventions since 1980. Milo is a conservative, he's not an MRA. He has made tha…

Still, there is such a thing as Toxic Masculinity. By the same token Toxic Femininity is equally real and we need to discuss it. I agree. Exhibit A: Munchausen syndrome and Munchausen by Proxy. It could well be argued that feminism itself is a society-wide expression of Munchausen by proxy, with the entire male sex representing the proxy to the supposed real victim, the woman.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
