This all implies that there is an objective opinion for "nerd" The traditionally "nerdy" interests and hobbies are far more socially acceptable now than they used to be. Obviously not get-you-laid acceptable like being a good sports player or whatever, but the idea of the stereotypical nerd isn't necessarily a basement dweller anymore, which is good for confident guys who like traditional "nerdy" hobbies.
