4	I have read that a guy should be interested in a girl as a friend before anything sexual but isn't that statement hypocritical because girls and guys approach first who they are attracted to before someone who isn't attractive? The idea that sexual attraction and respect are mutually exclusive is such bs. It sounds old fashioned to me, and like an assumption that women don't/shouldn't want or like sex. I had a friend who was obsessed with "being respectful" and worried about making a woman uncomfortable. Guess what, he never got laid. What they mean is that women want to be treated like people. When a man starts out saying how wonderful you are based just on looks it comes across as really shallow and is just too obviously "I want to fuck you". If you don't show interest in them as a person they may as well be just a vagina to you, it's super off putting. Even if the guy is attractive and you're down for casual sex, you don't want to feel like a piece of meat to be used. Mostly from other women, though sometimes from men too (it was my stepfather who punished me for studying instead of doing the dishes). And male nurses. I think it's really weird how there's this constant push for more women in STEM but no one gives a shit about men in teaching or nursing. Why not teach the boys to be less aggressive and make way for the girls? It feels like this ban wouldn't teach the boys anything except that being good to women has to be bad for them.
