Which poem of St. John of the Cross?

This is a great comment. Thanks for stating it so clearly.

Bullshit. No one posting on this forum has been alive for centuries. Why are you blaming me for the actions of my ancestors? It's ridiculous. There's this whole notion of "privilege" appearing, where privilege is growing up in a stable two parent family, having a good income, etc. These things are not privileges: they are what every child deserves (but of course not every child will ever get them). If they cared about anything besides virtue signally, lefties would be focused on getting those th…

Historical note: read up on the history of the Suffragette movement in England. Although ballyhooed by a pretentious (stupid) film, the original feminists did NOT want the right to vote, because the right to vote was tied to conscription (IE being drafted into World War I). Should women be able to vote? Yes of course. But the history isn't just a history of "oppression" or whatever else people want you to believe. It's complicated and multi-faceted.

I like how this reddit bro is slamming literate women by writing a pseudo-poetic diary entry. "a new writer, a new topic, a new something." Are you sure you aren't the girl?

You completely missed the point of this post, which is to not place yourself in legal jeopardy or physical danger over stupid shit. What will you do when he pulls out his? Blast away and go to court? Stand there like a dumbass? Get shot by a cop? You see what I mean. Be smart, be safe--it's not worth it. **This is not an argument against concealed carry. It's an argument against pulling a gun out for any reason other than you need to kill someone.

The tell here (poker analogy) is "a marriage that God would want for me." I'll be very frank in admitting that I got into and prolonged a similar relationship based on my own weakness/desire to be "Christ like" (by tolerating a crazy woman's abuse) using the same stupid rationalizations this guy is making. He should try reading the entire Bible and not just the parts that people want to highlight.

Can confirm. Prolonged exposure to someone with mental illness will make you crazy. It's sad because they need help **BUT* you have to realize that giving them a relationship is the opposite of helping since all it will do is provoke intense emotions from them.

It's miserable. It sucks. You want to help. Every natural male instinct makes you want to help, but you can't. It's like boxing against a southpaw (lefty): every natural move you take as a right handed boxer just opens you up to getting straight 2s to the face.

Check out Uvex glasses on Amazon, they increase melatonin and help you sleep better by blocking blue light. Go to bed earlier - wake up earlier - create a program that only takes 1 hour of gym time to complete. For me this one is about time management vs. quality of lift--I lift better in the afternoon than I do on an empty stomach, so I'm shooting for lunch time lifts. But if you're struggling to wake up early you need to go to bed earlier.

"social anxiety is a learned behavior, and that affects your brain." Bingo. Men, if you're over 18 and you don't have a calendar you are doing it wrong. Get yourself a calendar. Plan your week/month/year. Put some social events on there. That calendar is your best friend. It's a contract with yourself. You don't need to over do it, but you do need to make sure you are populating your life with worthwhile/challenging events, instead of losing entire weeks/months/years to your X-Box (once you add …

I think men have a natural tendency to want to problem-solve. Woman with insecurities and past trauma craves/needs a man. Being her man seems like the solution. But unfortunately, or at least in my case, it actually just made everything worse for her. The problem can't be solved. She'll be a mess without you or a mess with you. The only answer I can give is to apply the TRP notion of staying on your mission. Maybe say something nice to her to show that you respect her dignity as a human being. B…

Said in jest. The things that make women happy (decisiveness, conviction, stability) aren't the things that the consumer economy says makes them happy (new shoes, flowers, vacations, jewelry).

5.5 years with a woman who doesn't want kids? Are you serious? Your finances may be separate, but the amount of time you are investing can't be recouped.

Sorry for your situation, but by what criteria is Brad Pitt "the man of all men"? I know a few men just from recent history who would disagree with you there: -George Patton -Jim Lovell -Jack Welch Maybe just by virtue of choosing such a destructive partner Brad Pitt isn't the man you think he is. Perfect 10 wasn't so perfect was she?

In this case, you don't really need to say anything. Any rational person who sees these losers will understand that the fact they agreed to be photographed for the story shows how little self respect they have. A crazy or low character person who sees it and accepts or endorses it has identified themselves to you as a crazy person. There may be some small fraction of high character but liberal indoctrinated people who react to this positively initially but are saveable. If anything, articles lik…

You had me until the last sentence. That's just insane, especially since you talk about learned behavior. I would bet roughly .01% of men meet that standard, and frankly I wouldn't be so confident that you yourself could meet it. If you had actually been through something that challenging, you would know that luck played a huge factor in getting out of it, probably as much or more than your imagined competence.

Choice comment: "There is also a political component here that could have been addressed too, and I'd like to share this now. Many conservatives - and Trump voters in particular - are deeply threatened by this approach to love. They call progressive men "betas," or "cuckolds" as if it's some grave form of insult, when in reality it takes a great deal of bravery and self-security to love one's spouse enough to let them love others as well. These deplorable conservatives used to shame gay people i…

My favorite comment: A beautifully written story, which has transformed the way I see and experience all my relationships, sexual and non-sexual, male and female. The deep compassion of the author, Susan Dominus, snuck up on me, like a Siamese cat wandering silently into my room, who begins to rub herself against my feet. The emotional strings Susan Dominus played on my heart struck so deeply that I remembered, once again, who I was, and what I wanted. As I continued to read, I began to sense th…

Ask yourself: will a woman who physically abuses me physically or verbally abuse my daughter? Get further instances of abuse documented. I don't know anything about family court, so take my next recommendation with a grain of salt: I would not let my child grow up in an abusive home. I wouldn't do anything illegal, but I would find a way to increase time with my daughter or get exclusive parenting rights.

Also, if you think you can only get women in a year or two when you have lost weight, you still need to start preparing yourself now, IE vetting, reading about how they act, etc. Don't put it off.

There's no reason at all to be friends with women, unless it's at scheduled social events (networking, BJJ, a softball team, church group, whatever it is you do). No good will come from it, ever. You think you are friends-in reality you are an orbiter. Time is the medicine. Get a calendar and plan out the next year of your life. It won't go perfectly, but if you have a plan it will go better than if you live day to day as a semi-depressed 20 something "young adult." You are lamenting being 26. D…

Alright one more freebie. Buy a notebook. Write one significant thing that happened each day, then write one thing--small or big to fix or improve. Review at the end of the month. The significant thing will help you remember the rest of that day. Those small and big things will let you know if you are progressing as a human being or not. Something as small as "library closes at 10PM Fri-Sun, not 12AM" or as big as "Roommate finally finished a six month breakup with his LTR, learn how to execute …

Lastly--when the inevitable storms of life come, shift your mental framework from "how come nobody told me this?" to "what could I have asked or read before this experience that would have prepared me for it, and how can I apply that problem solving technique to future challenges." When I look back at my life, I realize that my biggest failures came from thinking I was prepared when I wasn't. Had a rough time as a platoon leader in the Army--I expected the training I did before hand to prepare m…

You are WAY ahead of the game if you are already asking these questions. Just follow through and do great things. Good luck. Also: learn to VET LTR prospects. Nothing will save you money and pain like that. Look at this boulevard of broken dreams and read these stories.

Don't just lift, have a program and a GOAL. Monitor your progress by maxing out one your key power lifts (bench, squat, deadlift) once a month. Follow Johnny Candito on youtube. He has fantastic videos on form and programming. OR pick something cool like a triathlon or BJJ. Both of these helped me after a tragic life event. BJJ was social and fun. The triathlon was a goal that took preparation and courage and forced me to learn how to swim (1 mile, in the ocean). Buy a calendar. Plan your days o…

She was not "out of your league." A woman who is that much of a mess is not worth the trouble. Being good looking has very little to do with her actual value/suitability, ESPECIALLY if she's dumb enough to start dating right after a breakup. Stop being a follower and go lead something/someone--even if its just yourself. If she's in a league, it's the minors.

Start investing and learning to budget, even with small amounts of money. Read Dave Ramsey's books. Get a good mutual fund (T Rowe Price or Vanguard) and just put 50 bucks a month in it until you get a real job. This will build good habits. Get yourself a calendar. Put an achievable/realistic number of personal goals on it per day (gym, cooking, buying a car, maintaining a car) and STICK TO IT. That is the best advice you will ever get that I wish I had thought of 10 years ago. Create a LinkedIn…

This is an atrocious, fake-alpha take. Women have agency. A woman shitty enough to mouth off in front of relatives about a chocolate egg doesn't deserve "Genghis Khan." The conflict here is OP's protective nature vs. his healthy need for respect. It's not an easy line to walk. At this point they have taken each other hostage without even trying to.

This is incredible advice. In life you are only competing against the best version of yourself OP--competition with other people is just a means to bring the best out of yourself. On a side note, EVERYONE should double major. The market is tough right now. But that advice above isn't limited to education.

This is an AWFUL idea OP. Do not proceed. Your messages sound like some sort of power trip/dopamine high. You are not in a good state of mind. All you will accomplish is damaging her and yourself.
