Well yeah this isn't a good idea to ask to someone you're dating. Gotta phrase it another way or don't ask at all. It's acceptable to ask this to a female friend or acquaintance depending on the discussion though, like those podcasts do.

Sucks that I don't have a gym membership right now. And the gym near my place really sucks. I'd argue that learning a martial art can be better than lifting. Knowing that you can defend yourself can be better than knowing that you can lift heavy. It depends on the person though.
