| 1 | Getting women to lower their standards will just trap you in a passionless relationship“Unhappy marriages were in the single digits” refers to a snapshot of married respondents at the time of a survey describing their current marriage as “not too happy.” This doesn't mean the divorce rate wasn't high. You are correct that they divorced the most. It's just if you took a snapshot of a boomer during a period of their marriage, and asked them how it was going, like ~90-95% would tell you "very good or good". And this is just for boomers, probably the "unhappiest" group when it comes t… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/07/26 07:56 PM |
| – | I feel like men being the sole providers is an unrealistic expectation in 2026.That number should be zero Because men use their work as an excuse to steal more leisure time and avoid their fair of chores and childcare. It doesn't. Not all work is equal. The burden is different between paid work and domestic work. Paid work is overall more burdensome on an individual. On the whole, women work 12-13 more minutes a day/72 hours a year. They do more chores and childcare. As... they probably have since human society has existed. Imo it's not some fluke or just "men being being … | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/07/26 07:39 PM |
| – | I feel like men being the sole providers is an unrealistic expectation in 2026.At least for millennials and gen z, most people seem to share chores pretty equally from what I've seen. The large majority of my women friends do not or rarely cook. Taking care of pets/children is mostly shared very equally. Women being sole homemakers is really only true for full blown stay at homes or those aged 65+ from my experience. Anything I can find on this seems to point at equal earning couples: women do about 4 hours of unpaid work and men do 3 hours of paid work (more than the othe… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/07/26 08:40 AM |
| 1 | Getting women to lower their standards will just trap you in a passionless relationshipX-TREME straw(wo)man. (Maybe just go back and put a line through the ball in chain section of my comment and reread I guess. It's not being used as a metric. Not claiming boomers never got divorced. I think women remarrying is at least partially indicative that many married for love in a post WW2 environment. My argument is mainly with the OP's stances. Not whatever this is.) | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/07/26 08:37 AM |
| 1 | Getting women to lower their standards will just trap you in a passionless relationshipBoomers divorce more than any other generation. ≠ Wives never loved their husbands. 'Lotta remarriages too. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/07/26 02:38 AM |
| 1 | Getting women to lower their standards will just trap you in a passionless relationshipThey don't take into consideration how a very large percentage of those women probably (at best) tolerated their husbands, rather than ever truly loving them. This is a massive assumption that is, imo, becoming a harmful common conception specifically among younger/more left-leaning women. Post-1900 (speaking in western terms), it's wrong. The large majority of women (and men) reported happy marriages. Unhappy marriages in the single digits. The boomer meme is a meme. In my own experience I've l… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/07/26 01:37 AM |
