Every time you walk through a door, remember to stand up straight. You walk through enough doors in a day that it should be frequent reminder to stand up straight, as long as you're not taller than most door frames.

I laughed pretty hard when the woman thanked the camera for telling HR. Why the hell can't she talk to HR herself? I have a feeling she would actually be pissed that you took the choice of talking to HR away from her. Years ago I had a female co-worker that was getting a lot of creepy attention from some guy in the company. He worked in another office but often made excuses why he had to come to our office. She showed me the creepy emails she would get, the things he would post on her wall or th…

It is sad how many people in academia refuse to admit that men and women's brains are different despite research suggesting otherwise. Hjernevask is an interesting Norwegian documentary series regarding the nature versus nurture debate. Hjernevask (Brainwash) 1/7 - The Gender Equality Paradox – (Eng. sub - HQ) The end of the first episode is great because the guy confronts the two Norwegian academics that were insisting there is no difference between men and women's brains.

How is this picking up speed in Toronto? Someone in the Toronto subreddit linked to the NY Times article and most of the people in that thread talked about how stupid this is. It must be a joke to work for CTV News. It is an article about someone else's article with the addition of reddit comments and 3 tweets. I'm not surprised there isn't an author credited for the article.

I wasn't able to view the article directly. All I could see was a white page with this gif. The only way I was able to read the article was by running it through archive.today. (The article wasn't worth the trouble) Article: https://archive.today/rSGTq The article sounds like it was written by a woman who has just hit the wall. I assume she is 29 because she wrote this article about how 29 is a weird age and her linkedin profile says she graduated high school in 2003.

This girl sued her parents and lost dropped the suit. One of Canning’s main reasons for her lawsuit was that her parents were refusing to pay for her education if she didn’t abide by their rules. (She also accused her father of “inappropriate affection” and her mother of encouraging an unhealthy body image). Canning’s parents said that she moved out because she wouldn’t abide by their curfew or stop seeing a boyfriend they didn’t approve of. A judge thought that she was just “spoiled.”

Do you expect her to refer to it as "the house I am currently living in"? As a kid, I referred to my parent's house as "my house" even though I didn't own it. When I rented a room in a house in college, I referred to it as "my house" because it was easier than saying, "the house where I am renting a room".

Some schools love to brag about how many women enroll in STEM majors but they don't like to mention how many stay in that major and actually graduate. I was looking for stats on this but instead I came across this interesting observation. And Thursday, a man was shot chasing men who snatched his girlfriend's purse. Growing up I had a fantasy that I would rescue a beautiful woman in need and she would love me. I think wearable computers are going to have an interesting influence on these sorts of situations. Imagine clothes that can be switched on to record audio and video when someone thinks they are in danger (either manually or automatically based on your vitals). This reminds me of the 2013 Gaming Insiders Summit where the 20 speakers were initially all male. This gamasutra article explains the difficulty they encountered trying to find female speakers. After all the publicity and complaining, they replaced 3 of the announced speakers with 3 women. (20 speakers seen here). Sucks to be the 3 guys that got bumped because they had the wrong genitals. The stance on drugs is also similar. At my school, a bag of weed was found in an on-campus house of 5 people and they were about to evict all 5 people without a refund because no one would admit they owned it. The only reason nothing happened is because the bag of weed "went missing" after it was confiscated. It didn't matter that the only reason the don found it was because he entered the house uninvited when the door was unlocked. (A don is like a head resident for an area in on-campus housing…

That's an awfully sensationalist headline. It is not a Trojan Horse. It is a photoshop action that undoes changes and stamps a message. It even tells you you can undo it. The forking part wasn't even a sexual joke. While I did make a big dongle joke about a fictional piece hardware that identified as male, no sexual jokes were made about forking. My friends and I had decided forking someone's repo is a new form of flattery (the highest form being implementation) and we were excited about one of the presenters projects; a friend said "I would fork that guys repo" The sexual context was applied by Adria, and not us. Watching "I guess you'll do" gave me an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach. The video perfectly described some of my co-workers. (Especially the part about the partly finished basement with the bar and the barely used exercise equipment).
