If men could only look at a span of 20 years as actually a short time then they would look at how things will actually end up for them if they follow the norms. Mostly you see uninspired overworked over committed people looking for the exit. Why go into that in the first place? I wish the norm was not to form relationships and settle down instead to stay single adventurous and open to possibilities. If you look at the kids you grew up around honestly you would not feel a great need to have kids.…

Frankly, I am very glad society doesn’t coddle me or constantly identify me as a victim. That crap is weak sauce.

I agree more with Ayn Rand than Tesla. The smart men in this situation just “go Galt”. If there is no reward for sacrificing and hard work eventually the intelligent retreat and don’t participate.

I guess she doesn’t realize If you got nothing but a somewhat pretty face then you have little to offer to an attractive successful man. Men like that can date whomever they want. There are a lot of fish in the sea. The carousel ride eventually ends and there is not always a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

To the “emcel” you are completely replaceable. The feelings they do have are about themselves, not you. Their “crazy” moods and depression are caused by lack of any real personal depth and are completely unfixable because the quick fixes of meaningless social validation are always available to them. Devotion and worthiness as concepts applied to themselves are not something they understand. But they have huge lists for what they expect you to have. They do nothing except choose —for a while you …

I saw an interview with Elon Musk where he acknowledged that most people are motivated by their limbic system. Basically most people live entirely enslaved to these phony ideas of what will give them pleasure and satisfaction. Pornography is a great example. It makes you like a monkey with his finger on the button. All you are doing is releasing clouds of dopamine into your system. I'm not saying don't do it but understand what it is if you do. Same thing for most people's relationships, ideas o…

Start with yourself then. What do you really value, what recharges you? If you don’t know then make it your mission to find out. Then how can you make those things into your focus and what drives you? People come and go but you can make a good life by focusing on your own ideals and bit by bit becoming more of the man you want to be. It’s a lifelong process.

in all honesty so do most attractive men. both often suffer from an overinflated sense of self worth. what I mean by suffer is they attract mediocre friends and followers but often lack the discernment to realize it

It’s actually better than before the fantasy. But at first it’s like learning to walk without crutches. The world is still beautiful. But people are just people. Someone with a gift in some area surely has a deficiency in some other area. An article that helped me with the collapse of the fantasy was this one: https://zaporacle.com/2010/07/14/no-tristans-allowed-beyond-this-point-debunking-the-western-myth-of-romantic-love

If you invest in yourself you never lose value. There are various ways to do this. My way has always been to focus on my art. I have a day job and it pays 6 figures but it does not define me. If I lose it I still have my artistic progression which is my primary interest.

It sort of becomes meaningless once you’ve been married. It’s like been there done that. Female validation is also meaningless once you can easily get it. It’s also meaningless when you are wealthy. If you haven’t experienced any of those states you can still invalidate external validation by having your own focus as an artist, scientist, athlete or explorer. Once you escape that trap, it’s gone forever. Until that time it can appear to be inescapable.

I saw this “epitaph humor” playing Witcher 3. “He may not have been the smartest or best looking but he always gave a solid 60%”. Think about it...this is actually all most jobs deserve. My 60% is more than enough to do a good job and stay employed.

I went through this as well. I’m long past the grieving stage. It really is incredible when you realize it was all fake. They are what they are but there is nothing romantic or anything worth idealizing about them at all. But many of them use this delusion men have to manipulate them. That still annoys me but such is life.

Having the power to choose doesn’t mean a damn thing if you have no discernment or discipline. You just end up with jackass over and over again... Or she rejects a good one because she can’t even appreciate it. Finally... she is trying to conceal the damage from all of those relationships but it’s impossible.

That's what's called via negativa. It works for a while but it begins to turn against you towards your own self destruction. Profit doesn't matter, everything supposedly gained by being a corrupt asshole turns out to be utterly worthless, because it corrodes the only thing of actual value: your interior mind. The only thing lasting is inner created value but this takes a long time for most to understand if they ever do. You can find this truth via via negativa but it's a bad trip. Better if poss…

How do I see "nice" girls who are obviously interested in me but I have no interest? Uh, I see them as an annoyance at best. It doesn't matter how nice they are to me. I don't understand why my fellow men think somehow the woman doesn't see right through that stupidity. You're making a fool of yourself.

You will never be happy as long as you judge yourself based on the reactions of others. People are mostly self absorbed and selfish. If they like you it's because they can get something from.you. if you develop good qualities and skills this can become a beneficial reciprocity, but it in no way changes the underlying dynamic. You must live for yourself, first and foremost, without seeking the personal validation of others.

Average? You are a black belt who learned two additional languages and read hundreds of books in your 20s. You are way above average already! Being above average doesn't lead to happiness. A lot of people achieve excellence but still feel miserable. There is really no end. Life is an endless road. Some parts are great, others suck in endless cycles.

I started to care and then realized I don't. Hollywood sucks, the ratio of crap to good content is so low as to be a surprise when something above the banal comes out of that bunghole. Read books, make your own music, make your own art. This is far better and more fulfilling.

This is the ultimate recourse, just go Galt. No need to do anything productive if it will just be stolen. In that case just shrug and do the absolute minimum for the state.

It's all they have to not collapse in a heap of misery. They got a degree and with it a rigid idealogy, brainwashed and unable to think outside academia. They are "outraged" the system doesn't cater to them after they spent so much time in these institutions. So... let them say and think what they want...then shrug, avoid, and go laughing all the way to the bank.

If you build your worth primarily internally there is very little that threatens you. So my concern over the histrionics of losers is pretty low. If I lost all my money I would still be me, still have the skills and experiences I most value, still be able to take pleasure in the things I like best which are simple and inexpensive anyway. I'd still be able to hold a job if necessary and otherwise not compelled to do anything much against my own self interest. So my answer would be...just watch th…

Simple metaphor but if you don't have any emptiness then you don't have any space. Emptiness is actually potential, but psychologically it's difficult to hold the larger potential, the freedom from fulfilling, but ultimately narrow commitment.

Yeah man I know where you're at. Thanks for the reminder. Never envy a married man. Shed a tear or two for the latest sucker to get engaged to princess. I have no problem with it but I wouldn't want to be in a relationship with them since I've only had a handful (by choice). Someone with dozens of sexual partners is probably only a good long-term partner for another person with a similar sexual history.

Never envy any man who has shacked up. It's more like "another one bites the dust". Realistically, there are good marriages but they all are a huge reduction in personal freedom. Even good ones are nothing to envy when you realize the sacrifices required to make them work.

The real definition of privilege is never having to hear whiny losers complain. I don't care. I have enough problems without them blaming me for theirs. I don't care if someone has more than me. I don't care if they inherited money. I call that good fortune and good for them. I'll cut my own path through the jungle and I despise whiny jealous complainers.

Sorry man, but I actually hate that sentimental crap. My childhood also mostly sucked. It was miserable. My parents were in a bad place. I never had the desire to recreate it. I was never truly happy until I was on my own.

More than likely being in a relationship will not satisfy your "primal" needs. You still stand an excellent chance of being sexually unsatisfied, maybe even a greater chance. Nobody ever "solves" this simply by getting married or being in a LTR. If anything you realize how painfully you must compromise these things even more. The problem with most people in their 20s is they believe in an advertising fantasy version of what relationships actually are. The reality: your wife gets fat, you work a …

I never had any desire to reproduce or provide. So, I haven't done either one (now in my 40s). All my relationships with women have been with women who had similar income to my own. Protect I think might be somewhat hardwired as I have to remind myself that I believe women should protect themselves or I submit to that instinct by default. I actually despise women who care about my income because they can't earn their own.

"Men in relationships are shown in studies to be the happiest" I don't think this is actually true. Even if most are, realize that a huge percentage this isn't actually true. What I'm getting at is that trying to make yourself happy by thinking about the so called majority is a sure recipe for misery. It's nothing more than the trap of "keeping up with the Jones'". Look at extraordinary men instead --many never married or had views unsympathetic to marriage and relationships. Any and every biolo…

This happens all the time. It happened to me in high school. They are sleeping with teenage boys. Then you have all the asinine comments about how the boy is "lucky". This is a double standard, if it's a crime for men then it's a crime for women regardless if they enjoyed it.

Well the people who hurt men are the ones that lied to them. So the answer to that question really is "the liars". Originally, these are the people and even society itself which basically tried to sell us the role of "provider males at the service of women" as the answer. If you keep going back and arguing with women about this most of them just won't understand. They do not feel they owe us anything. They still feel we owe them when they are themselves unworthy and have lists of things they dem…

Oh this is true of many many things like many jobs, material things in general, towns you think you want to live in, fame or popularity...etc. There may just be no shortcut. The fantasy of what people think they are missing can't be easily dispelled. Most people who now shrug can do so because they achieved the things and found they weren't necessary after all.

I've never seen him before and I just watched most of this. He's sensible but he doesn't get to say much because he's constantly being attacked by the interviewer. I personally don't feel it's valuable time to spend 20 minutes explaining 1 minute of material to a completely biased idiot who interrupts constantly. And it's not fun to watch, either, because the bottom line is, it's disrespectful. Sad state of affairs if this is supposed to represent "discourse".

It's not really that different from moderating any other potentially addictive behavior. Drinking a couple pints one night a week is fine, 5 night, not so much. Eating whatever you feel like everyday will make most people fat and unhealthy. Working hard is fine...working hard all the time will burn you out. Exercising consistently is good, but overdoing it can also injure you. The list goes on and on. You can't just make your sex drive go away (well you can but that makes life worse) so finding …

I'd say it means independence and self reliance. The striving to act with competence and strength doing what you value. The ability to strike out on your own and face the world alone if necessary or if simply preferred. The ability to lose everything and start again from scratch because you invest primarily in yourself as the source of value. Being a man means you avoid seeing yourself as a victim despite your circumstances and take responsibility for your life.
