I was working part-time previously, but then I did the math and daycare costs would eat up my entire income, and working full-time was not that much better. My employer was already giving me a hard time about taking any time off for medical appointments and I have a condition that makes any pregnancy I have relatively high-risk, so there would be a lot more in my future with very short notice. I asked HR about taking medical leave while pregnant but they reduced my hours so I didn't qualify. Lea…

1: Pregnancy yoga and going on walks, I can't do much as far as exercise. I'm 18 weeks. 2: Vegetable burritos are my nutritional saviors. I also am craving celery. 3: Honestly, I didn't listen to much music but I did listen to Disney songs while I cleaned a bit. 4: Next week is more cleaning and getting the nursery together and hoping everything goes well. I would like to get the old couch and chair out of the apartment but I need help.

Yeah, I thought at least they did a good job of trying to minimize her actual weight with the style of clothing they gave her... which doesn't make any sense in regard to the song. (But then again I'm not sure she was aware of that - her stylist may have just done it on her own.)

Yeah, but then you have risks associated with childbirth at older ages and epigenetic issues that we still don't know all the details about yet. It's not a 100% safe method, even if you do have the money. I considered IVF plus genetic testing on my embryos for fertility/genetic reasons and still was hoping out of it. Not to mention if you get pregnant at 40 you may not even be able to see the birth your grandchildren if the cycle continues, let alone have enough health/energy to raise young chil…

As far as kids and settling down goes, I don't really think they value something else - it's just that they have been led to believe that they can accomplish everything (career, kids, exciting and wild dating life) all at once with enough time and energy, so they spend most of their twenties networking, boozing it up, and spinning plates while assuming they have enough time to spare without getting serious. Most often, I find that these kids are children of those in middle to upper class with ol…

Honestly, they do react rather terribly and we're not even that young. We're 27 and expecting our first. It's bizarre. I've had family members, doctors, and strangers shame us for being married and having a baby so "young." I think it's just the culture. People our age try to break us up (usually by trying to flirt or dig for information/get me to vent about my husband's personal/private issues) and only much older women (40s and up) seem to genuinely act happy for us. It's crab mentality. The p…

cautiousBB, baby bumps, fitness, letsnotmeet, slowcooking, backyard chickens (even though I'm probably never going to do that.)

I'll have my first at 27 too. If I could I'd go back in time and have the first one around 22-23, so I at least have the option to space them out a few years. It feels like I'm rushing.

I grew up lower middle class, but our school was mixed and divided by money. I'm 27. My upper-class friends are either currently childless and waiting until menopause to try to start a family (convinced by tabloids and celebrities that it's not a big deal or hard.) I'm not even kidding. Some people joke about women trying to have kids at 35. These people think they can do it with ease au natural at 40. My lower and middle class friends are on their second or third with multiple partners and fail…

I'm a housewife right now and there are times where I wish people were more accepting. If I worked, just about everything I earned would go to daycare costs. It just wouldn't make sense and I would feel like I didn't have a hand in raising my kids aside from making them breakfast and tucking them in at night. I think it's really important to have a stable environment. I know it's difficult to be a stay at home mom/housewife financially, and not all can afford to do it - but I know people that wo…

I can order a $8 sandwich that comes around to 600 calories and 25 grams of protein (per serving) and have it delivered, or I can make one of my family recipes that usually come around $6 with multiple servings and much more calories (if that's what you want, you can always add/subtract things to go with a diet.) Heck, right now I'm still eating leftovers from yesterday night's $6 meal that made six servings. I could even spread it out further by putting it over rice or something. Granted, when …

It sounds like she's just very immature and bragging about her sexual conquests to either make you feel insecure and see if you'll still hang around (shit test) or she and her friends spent some considerable amount of time on the CC to where she thinks you need to be involved in her drama and that somehow you would respond positively to this news and act jealous because she's such a free and independent mysterious special snowflake for getting so much male attention. Either way, she's acting lik…

I'm 26, my husband is 27. I have about $25,000 I'm sitting on right now, by the end of the year it will be near $30,000. We do not have family to rely on so it's essential. We're going to move soon and I'm not certain if we should rent or put the down payment on a house. I honestly like to have at least $10,000 in the bank for emergencies, as I get older and our family gets larger I feel less secure. When I started out in college though I only had about $3,000. I really wish I had worked earlier…

I don't even understand why guys want hairy legs/pits/whatever. It's uncomfortable and itchy. These people just feel like by rebelling from social norms that they're accomplishing something big and important. I also think by claiming that the choice to shave is oppressive they're just as bad as the society they are in that supposedly pressures women to shave. I shave because it's my personal hygiene choice, hair is itchy, uncomfortable, and tends to make body odor linger. If I don't shave I get …

I think it's fine just as long as it's not excessive. I have relatives that have their own names tattooed on their arms and it's VERY low-class. It depends on size, location, what it is, etc. There's tasteful and then there's corny tattoos that look like scratch-tats. That being said, I have three at the moment and I regret two of them.
