Good points here. Regardless of the night and what she’s fed you, making your intent clear, even if you get rejected, go a long way. It signals that you are attracted to her, don’t give a shit about her “rules”, and is a display of confidence. All of these work in your favor if things progress to a second date. Consider the alternate scenario. You have your date, have a great time, and don’t make a move. She either thinks “he doesn’t like me” or “he’s too much of a pussy to go for what he wants”…

I’d agree with switching to high bar, but also for the weak core give front squats a try. Ive found them to really torch your core stabilizers and the strength gains translate well into back squats and especially deadlifts.

Engineering, finance/Econ, computer science, math, and statistics are all great choices. I work in tech consulting and these are where we draw the majority of our incoming college hires.

Between eating and muscle gain I added 25 pounds of mass in a little less than a year. You are really underweight for your height if you are trying to gain strength.

You are nowhere near the top. 5x5 alone took me into the 1000 pound club. I’m 6’1” 200 for reference. I’d focus on at least getting your deadlift and squat at least 1.5x your body weight.

Excellent analogy. I’m reading Outliers now and this resonates on so many levels. Cycles of positive feedback reinforce experience and learned behavior.

A suit is always the answer. White shirt, simple tie, matching shoes (polished/clean) and belt. If the place is super casual you can always ditch the tie when you show up. I’ve interviewed at a startup before in a suit and one dude was in shorts and flip flops. The one exception to this is if the hiring manager explicitly says wear business casual/whatever you are comfortable in/not formal. At that point I’ll typically wear slacks and a button up with an open collar.

If you want the electronics job do that. Tell your dad that this is what you want to do long term and that you think it offers a better path for advancement. Work for your dad on the weekends. Hustle while you’re young and stack some money. Consider getting your associates to further your career, especially if your job offers any form of tuition assistance.

This is called the Dunning Kruger effect. Smart people tend to downplay their intelligence while inept people tend to be overconfident about their abilities.

This. Start with just the bar and work up. Don’t listen to the talking heads in the gym. Put your ducking headphones in and go to work. The app itself has video demonstrations on form, positioning, posture, etc for optimal lifting performance. Aside from this, there are literally millions of hours of video on YouTube showing you how to squat, bench, row, deadlift, and OHP. Follow the program for a year and you’ll make great progress and gain both strength and size. At that point you can continue…

True dat. My forearms exploded from rock climbing more than deadlifts as well. Nothing gives you a pump like holding on to a hold for dear life.

I love anything outdoors. I’m a big rock climber and I try to get out in my kayak as much as I can. Hiking and photography (nothing serious) are also good ways to be active and get outside.

This post is all over the place. Why did you quit? It wasn’t what you expected? Bad environment? You don’t like working 40 hours a week? Too much responsibility? You’re obviously young if this is your first job. I remember I was nervous about entering the work force and basically quickly realized that I knew a lot less than I thought I did, but that’s why work experience is so valuable. If you’re a new graduate, and this is your first job, people probably don’t have high expectations for immedia…

I have not read this but I do remember a study posted on here a while back that showed historically US presidents have had a disproportionate number of sons over daughters. I believe it was on the order of 70/30 or so.

8% is the average annual rate of return for the broader US stock market for pretty much any significant length of time (20 years or so).

The best case scenario is that this money compounds at ~8% annually and you grow it over the long haul. Get rich slowly. The worst case scenario is the world economy goes to shit and you lose everything, but then you’ll probably have to worry about zombies and other shit.

Sign up for a brokerage account with Vanguard. They have the lowest fee index funds/ETF’s on the market. Start splitting that money monthly into VOO/VWO or some other low cost diversified market funds. You can set up automatic sweeps from your bank account and fully automate the process. Set it and forget it. Best way to take the emotions out of investing which is the biggest hurdle for people starting.

The best lay they’ve ever had? Dear lord show us your moves. You know, if you look around at average guys, it’s pretty ridiculous. It doesn’t take a lot of work to get into the top 20% when half of the population is obese losers. Being in moderate shape, having hobbies, and knowing how to hold a conversation will go a long way. But what do I know. Keep doing you if it works for you.

Bait? Lol. This is trash advice. Paying to get laid will still work, but it’s more rewarding to actually earn it. Work on yourself. Paying for girls is pretty much equivalent to self-admitting that you have nothing to offer them but money. Think about that and don’t listen to this autistic idiot.

She’s struggling with self-confidence and sees you as above her socially. She definitely likes you and values your time together but she perceives you as valuable and doesn’t want to “mess it up” by “bothering/pestering” you when you don’t initiate. In a way this feels like she’s fishing for commitment/progression in your relationship. In other words a comfort test. I’ve been in your position and a little affirmation that you enjoy her company and spending time in the arrangement that you’ve est…

Glancing is natural. Just because you look at other women doesn’t mean that the girl you’re with isn’t the object of your affection and desire. If your girl says she doesn’t look at other guys she’s lying.

There’s a lot of bullshit in this thread but you’re young and on the right track. You’re lucky enough to start early and have the knowledge that will shape your life over the next decade. Be grateful for that. Focus on lifting, eating well, upgrade your wardrobe where you need to, and focus on school. Success breeds confidence. Until then, fake it til you make it. Put yourself in uncomfortable situations. Fail. You will fail. But failure is the best teacher. Don’t worry about feeling inadequate …

From what I take it you’re still young. You knew it was wrong and now you can experience the fallout from your actions. Experience is the best teacher. You put her feelings and emotions first. You ALWAYS come first. By taking her back you’ve demonstrated your lack of resolve and certainty in your actions and she’ll treat you accordingly. Nuke that bridge from orbit. Hard next. Don’t explain yourself.

When I was doing SL and squatting 3 plates and deadlifting 4 I wasn’t huge either... roughly 195 pounds. However, lifting those loads will definitely improve your physique all over and bring other benefits like improved posture, etc. You may not be covered in rippling muscle but if you are lifting long enough to squat 315 and your body fat levels are relatively low (sub-15%) you will be in remarkably better shape than the next man. Just make sure your wardrobe is on point and your clothes fit to…

Yoga. Although not necessarily relaxing, I find it’s an incredible way to clear your head, practice focusing, improves your balance, flexibility, and posture. I definitely get a huge endorphin High after a session. Additionally it will carry over into your fitness routine and me personally as a rock climber it definitely improves many aspects of my performance. Also, learning to cook well. Flat out this girl has issues and she's really done you a favor by removing herself from your life. At the beginning when she suggested you wait for intimacy you were already out of the running. That's a huge shit test that you unfortunately did not pass. It probably stems from not being confident with yourself or as assertive as you could be. She chalked you up into the LJBF column and when you agreed to go along with her you should have just flipped the table on her and challenged her with "yo…

This is the right way to approach this. To the thought of putting significant effort into attracting one girl, the concepts of sunk costs and diversification come to mind. If you are focusing all of your effort on attracting one girl, this is probably counter-productive and once you become "invested" in terms of time/money/whatever it become easy to rationalize that you've "already gone this far" when in reality it was never going to work. Best thing to do is focus your attention elsewhere and u…
