I’m focused on the settlement. Luckily, my child isn’t influenced by the all the gaslighting and drama my ex loves to invent.

I’m glad you’re doing better. I almost didn’t make it but I enjoy seeing my daughter and I have reinvigorated my career. I entertain the thought of meeting someone one day. (Preferably someone who doesn’t have NPD) The turning point which substantially ended my distress was when I let go. I just let go and perceived some of the benefits of being single.

Mine calls when she can’t get onto her other friends, when she’s a couple of wines in, or when she realises how much I used to do and she feels overwhelmed. I’m courteous for our child’s sake but I’m silencing her calls more and more often. It seems a little pathetic to me, almost like she wants me to encourage her to enjoy the life she expelled me from. I have my own plans.

Had a suicide attempt 7 months ago, after she left- now experiencing unexpected success in my career- probably because I’m far more invested in it. Have a good bond with my daughter which helps. I’m moving back to the city which is something I’ve always wanted to do. So yeah - in one year I have gone from absolute desolation to having a measure of hope. Still have very sad days but I have a reason to get up in the morning thank God.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
