It reflects a level of commitment and familiarity. I text several people daily, try to respond to people's texts in a timely way. Communication, regardless of method, can be used to build connection. So what do you want? If you're into someone... Well, use the tools to build a connection.

I'm not religious, but I've tried to be. I've tried to play the part of the "good christian". Prayer always felt like talking to myself. I resent the church's meddling into people's private lives. I don't want to be told how to vote. Pretending to be something you are not is soul crushing. Faking it every day sucks. I do not recommend pretending to be christian for the hope of landing a christian wife. No one seeking a christian spouse wants to end up with an agnostic.

I was always told that with prostate cancer, many older men die with it but not of it. You usually die of something else while you have that cancer.

It's easy to point fingers and complain about some Boogey(wo)man in education. That's my field. I work with about a 50/50 gender split. I don't see many bad teachers of either gender, and lots of people who really do care. Lots of people are worried about under performing kids. There are some kids with real behavior problems. Some of that is that their parents have never cared and are too busy dealing with their own problems. Some are mental illnesses. Some are things that can be helped with the…

Just here to say that the book bears only slight similarities to that 60s Disney movie, and is wonderful. Kaa is so much more interesting,... Well, it's just a better, more complex story.

I see both sides. I didn't get much help from my parents for my schooling. I have a master's degree but don't take in huge bucks. However, I work a job that I like and keeps me professionally satisfied. I have friends that work labor- intensive trade jobs. These people are also reasonably happy with work. However, trade jobs can kick your ass once you say good bye to your 30s. Labor intensive jobs are for young, able- bodied folks. Kinda sucks after a knee or back injury. I have sons. I don't su…

I don't think it has the message you think it does. Yes, he leaves everyone and wanders North America, but after changing his mind about his seclusion, failing to make it back to civilization, he dies from the consequences of bad choices. Paternity test can be requested by the involved parties. Maternity policies of asking the woman of they want specific people in the delivery room happen as they do because the woman is the patient. The simple solution is if you find yourself with a pregnant partner and you doubt paternity, request a test.

Removing all your relationship stuff from her bio was both a self preservation thing as well as a message to you: "see?" She says, trying to convince herself and you, "you didn't really matter." Ignore. Go do your thing and don't even glance back.

https://www.cdc.gov/cancer/hpv/basic_info/index.htm But the hpv vaccine is about preventing hpv, which effects cervical cancer rates. While I fully support vaccination of both genders for hpv, is predominantly effects women. Men transmit hpv to partners and only rarely have their own cancer risk from hpv infection.

Your point of "denial but with no conviction" sounds more like when someone argues with someone else, and one is more vehement than the other. Quieter person doesn't want to argue, wants the other person to move on. Vehement speaker doesn't get the point, as a usual course of events. Loud person thinks they've won based on their passion; quiet person probably thinks other is an idiot.

I get great happiness from my family, so I don't agree that most relationships are a negative force in life. My parents are good people, extended family is fun and interesting. Just got back from the traditional family Thanksgiving extravaganza, and enjoyed myself enough to plan to be there next time. So if for you people are a net negative and not worth the time, that's what works for you. Wouldn't work for me.

If you are not in a rush, stay away from quick furnishing places. Don't know where you live, but near me is an Amish furniture maker and holy cow: you can get amazing sturdy quality stuff for reasonable prices. But you got to buy from the Amish guy, not some shop in an urban area claiming their shit is Amish made. That stuff is 3x the price. Or, visit antique shops for cool furniture. Bed sizes are tricky, especially if you want a king.

This is well documented, but slightly different. What happens is a long lived, successful pharaoh outlives most of his children and grandchildren. In fighting within the family weakens the dynasty. Some lower level relative claims the throne. When the family has been exhausted of heirs, as a last ditch effort to keep the dynasty within the family, a woman is made pharaoh ( there are very few examples in Egypt, not counting the Greek dynasties) as a last gasp. Within a generation power is shifted…

The advice I've seen regarding custody, influence, and the like goes like this: if you stay, you have influence over all decisions regarding the child. How much influence depends on how your relationship works. If you leave, you will have some influence over some decisions regarding your child. Most of that will be determined by the courts.

I am a huge proponent of public education. Schools, and education in general, are a great equalizer. An educated public is mandated for a democracy to function. I feel that well funded public schools are a cornerstone of the American dream. Private schools and for-profit charter schools encourage economic segregation, entrenching poverty and isolationism. All that said, there are problems in public schools. Property taxes fund them, So schools with wealthy residents or thriving businesses are be…

School, well done, should challenge you. It should be a test that not everyone can pass, or what would be the point? If anyone who wants it can have a degree, how would that degree have value? If it's hard, either up your game or find something else. I guarantee that for some people in your classes, that shit is easy. Cause that's how life is.

But in achievement, female students out perform males at every level. Which is mostly a social construct, with boys getting the messages, intentional or not, that school just isn't for them, and athletics are where it's at. So there's a sea of young men with dreams of futures where school performance doesn't matter.

Good luck on your essay. What does the prompt say? Or what organization is offering the scholarship? That's usually a good way to pick your topic. The divorce rate in the US is well below the 50 percent statistic oft quoted on this sub, so plenty of people, women included, control their urges/ biology just fine. . I suspect that some who describe the usual AWALT simply do not see women outside of trashy social circles. I work with a fairly even gender split. People are people. Most people I work with are decent.

She sounds like a typical professional that is also female. You can't get a doctorate in anything without signifant student loan debt. I thought that was the point of getting a student loan: yes, they are a burden but the salary you can earn after acquiring the degree is supposed to offset the cost. As for all the other stuff, it's possible that they are really a happy couple. But she's your therapist, and therefore not on any way available to you.

The jury decided that it couldn't be proven that the baby was born alive. Since no cause of death could be determined, she was charged with mishandling a corpse. Additional details of the defense claimed that she did not behave like others who have discarded babies into trash, who try to get far away from the evidence. Glad it wasn't my job to be on that jury.

This is my thought. CNAs and LPNs are nurses. But not in the same way that a BSN or a NP is a nurse. The later 2 are higher level nursing titles, where you'll see a higher socio-economic person. First two are entry level and not going to attract the same kind of person.

If you're asking really, there are some interesting evolutionary studies into the purpose of menopause. It's the "grandmother hypothesis " . Orcas are the main study, but has application in human evolution. Orca as a species are matriarchal, in that both sons and daughters stay forever within the maternal pod. When orcas mate, they do not form a new family group. Orcas, like humans, experience menopause. Orca pods without a maternal leader fare much worse in terms of hunting and survival. The id…

Currently reading a book called "Late Bloomers: the power of patience in a world obsessed with early achievement" Rich Karlgaard. I'm not done with it, but it is focusing on the idea that society 's focus on early success discounts most people's experience: mediocre attempt with finding your stride late. Perhaps consider the idea that it's ok not to be a "wonderkid" . Most of us aren't.

This is not true in my experience. Additionally, as a form of shitty "evidence" that some women do care lots about sex: about half the posts in deadbedrooms are from women, seeking advice for how to get their men off whatever game system has sapped their energy so they get some action.

Boys adrift, the trouble with boys, the minds of boys, boys of few words. I did a library search using the term "boys education" to find these titles. There are some really good books that I've read about this very thing. Most of what I read is from 12 years ago, but I'm sure there are current books. From my reading before, much of the focus was on the "sports above all" mentality that taught young men how to succeed at their sport but left them rudderless when they were done with school.

This is actually something discussed in my extended family, in which there is a high ratio of long-term married couples. What consensus was: each couple has a "don't have to ask about it" number, that can be spent without asking. Otherwise, either partner runs big purchases past the other for agreement, since financial decisions impact everyone.

How many happy relatives are there in your family circle? I swear that the more unhappy/divorced/"complicated" family members someone has the more likely the bad outcomes are. You're still young. I don't know why pratchett would roll in his grave. Have you read his disc world stuff? Gaiman pursued turning good omens (one of my favorite books; two of my favorite authors) into a min series because it's what pratchett wanted. It was one of his last requests. He (pratchett) made War a red haired female. He made pepper (the friend) a tomboy. It's exceptionally faithful to the book. Go be butt hurt about something else. This miniseries was great.

Blanket statements like "women can't have real relationships/friendships" are patently false. Are some women hypercompetitive, lonely, miserable souls? Yep. Pro tip: avoid those kinds. I know the idea of "never being loved unconditionally" is mantra for this sub, but that is not what I've seen in real life. My father is well taken care of by my mother in his increasingly frail old age. She is devoted. My siblings (and and their spouses) are all of an age where health problems start creeping in, and I see caring, devoted spouses. Those kind of people DO exist. I see that devotion, I want that devotion. Saying that no one ever gets that level of unconditional love is not true.

Some people wear make up (cause I've seen it on dudes, too). Some don't. It's about confidence and projecting an image. Current popular trends magnify the huge transformations. Interesting. I remember reading somewhere, in discussion of the myelination (sp) of brain neurons, how young men's delayed myleination made risky behaviors seem idealized in for them. From an evolutionary standpoint, risky behaviors in young men trumps all kinds of attraction "rules" . So, yes, power and status come with older, successful men. But risky behaviors put young men into the same "attractiveness category" as those with power and resources. Many industries use or depend on that risk-se…

It doesn't work this way. Accidental pregnancies happen because bodies are weird. Ovulation is not always known, correctly predicted, or expected. Birth control can fail for a multitude of reasons (antibiotics, missed a dose by a few hours. Or, for physical barrier methods, use the wrong lube). Sperm can live for days inside a woman. Combine that with erratic ovulation of a reasonably fertile woman and you have a very high likelihood of coming up surprise pregnant within any given month. Fertile…
