Its not that you can't control yourself, but the head trip can be very intense if you've taken too much. It can also act as a dissociative, which can make it very difficult/impossible to process your surroundings/interact with people. Its the most interesting experience I never want to have again.

Yes! I started doing this after taking a public speaking class. Instead of saying uhm or uh during presentations, we were all taught to pause. Incredibly effective since pauses build tension with the listener, and also because removing filler words makes you sound much more articulate.
