As an INTP man who ticks the boxes that you pointed out, I agree. Most guys who struggle with girls have this problem. The atomization of society has deteriorated our social skills, and hence the rise in male sexlessness. To be fair, this has affected women too, but the problem with men has been exacerbated by their higher sex drives. Men also tend to be quite vocal about this.

Yeah, most of reality is a spectrum. That's how I got inspiration for my username. 30% is a high number if you say most women have been sexually attracted to just ten men by the time they're 35.

Do you happen to live in a non-first world country? And yeah, if you put in effort into your appearance, it's natural to expect something similar from your potential partner. I don't think the majority of humans are unattractive. Most of them can become at least a little attractive with going to the gym, wearing nice clothes. I'm talking about the average person. Some people will always be more attractive than the others though. Do you think majority of humans would still be unattractive even if…

This is a likely scenario. How do you think the advent of genetic engineering will affect such a society?

This pretty much covers everything. Attractiveness is nice, but being intelligent and being able to make interesting conversation makes a women irresistible. Can relate to the holyshitthisissofuckingawesome feeling. Edit: Added some more of my thoughts, lol.

As a guy who's socially awkward, can confirm. A lot of guys never develop the necessary social skills in their childhood. And not being self aware adds salt to the would because they don't realise that they're bad at conversation and socialising with people until it's too late. It's a downhill spiral from there on. On an individual level, guys who struggle socially can go through the usual drill, get out of their comfort zone, meet new people and try new activities, etc. On the other hand, there…

I see. So most women get into relationships with men they're not sexually attracted to? Do you think it would be better if such women just remained single?

Size of the city/town is definitely a factor. But even as you move to a large city, how often do you expect to interact with sexually attractive men? If we were to extrapolate your experience to most women, and accounting for different tastes, wouldn't most women find 60-70% of the men sexually unattractive? And you are right, women tell other women that appearances shouldn't matter a lot in the relationship is basically a cope. But it has been ingrained in them by societal pressure. Otherwise, …

There are tons of posts about it all over the internet. In short, it's about not feeling any danger in most circumstances. It was news for me too when I found out about it, but it seems that women have to be aware of anything threatening round the clock.

What percentage of men that you meet in your day-to-day life are sexually atttractive to you?

True enough to a degree. But the catch here is that in a relationship, there is exchange of intimacy, emotional support, etc. And crying is just a way of releasing pent-up emotions. So yeah, crying is perfectly normal in a relationship, because it's still a part of the transaction. A person should definitely leave if their partner blames them when they cry instead of supporting them.

Why is shedding a few tears during a movie understandable, but not while listening to a song? Both can evoke strong feelings which results in a guy shedding tears. I guess your ideal man doesn't show many emotions. And crying over financial issues can sometimes work. Crying helps us release the pent up frustration in this case. The problem is when someone cries over problems with doing anything to fix them.

Yes, most men (and women) who struggle with dating and have low self-esteem have gone through some trauma in childhood. I think parents who don't love you unconditionally create that fear of abandonment. And I did not expect to find the theory of the Bicameral Mind mentioned on PPD. It's a very interesting theory, but I think it applies to pretty much every thought we have, not just our inner critic.

That's not uncommon behaviour from men who aren't used to talking to beautiful women. It's very easy for women to be disgusted by men and on the other hand, it's very easy for men to put women on a pedestal.

Those are edge cases. Women who have had an unhealthy childhood are usually attracted to the abusive/dark triad personality. Also, try creating and maintaining friendships as an asshole. It's true that altruism and selflessness can sometimes make you vulnerable at times, but that doesn't mean that you become an asshole.

What makes you think the men who reject expectations of virtue are benefitting from it?

Male, 20, INTP. I think it's almost impossible to be anything but purple pill after a little instrospection because the world is too nuanced for us to take a side. It's a mix of both. A little analogous to the wave-particle duality. Further reading: The doctrine in Jain philosophy called Anekantavada And holy shit, we INTPs are everywhere on Reddit.
