The foundation of pickup (and relationships in general) is to provide value. Higher-value people will unequivocally improve your own value. Seek to always better yourself.

Yup! I lurk there mostly -- I typically go out in the Mission which doesn't seem too popular among sedditors.

Thanks! You must be on the East Bay given that there a few hotties elsewhere in the Bay Area. I tried a few Peninsula/South Bay Meetups while living in Palo Alto and they typically drew very few females.

By SF, do you mean San Francisco? In which town are you that hotties go to meetup events?

I had a pottery-painting date today for the first time, and it was really fun. This particular place allowed us to bring a bottle of wine. Not sure if that's common.

Your response was good. It worked. Any of your other examples would have seemed too forceful.

Three-way is so passé. Three-and-a-half way is where it's at.

When you're asked, "what do you do," how do you respond? Try this exercise: have a conversation (preferably with a trusted friend) where everything you say is described as the most interesting possible thing in the world. Pause for dramatic effect. Emphasize key phrases. Use your body language to help the story along.

You were too easy. You kept trying to hold her hand even after the first rejection. She probably felt like she had already won you over, and you were no longer a challenge. I wouldn't try to salvage this personally. In the future, take the first rejection as a statement of disinterest, back off a bit and try to re-engage her some other way. This is classic push-pull. Google it. Overall, the best position is to seem interesting but never be too available.

That's the life of an engineering student. Try to study a semester abroad and have fun. Plan your schedule so that you can take only three credits your last semester and relax. Hit the books hard the rest of the time so you're positioned well for a job in the real world, and can correspondingly step up your game as such.

Exactly this. Showing vulnerability in this situation is super important. Given your self-proclaimed player vibe, she may not be sure to believe you. Make sure you are 100% genuine and honest (in this situation and future situations), and I assure you, good things will come.

I explain my sentiments in this comment. There's not an efficient process for meeting people you're likely to hit it off with. Sports bars might be the exception, in which it's easy to find other sports fanatics, but, unfortunately, the only sport I'm big on is baseball.
/r/seduction22/02/12 07:50 AM

I completely agree: all sorts of people go to bars. That's the problem, though. It's such a random environment. The likelihood that you meet somebody with mutual interests is low. Bars and clubs are great for working on game and pickup, but inefficient for finding long-term relationship material. With more niche events or social circle game you increase the likelihood of finding commonality immensely.

I'm not sure. I think viewing my dating success as binary would mean I'm being outcome dependent, which is certainly a possibility, but something I try to consciously avoid.

Being intimidated by beautiful women. Force yourself to frequently interact with them. I did this by salsa dancing regularly. It's a non-creepy way to make physical contact and chit chat with 8, 9, 10s. I was initially intimidated--after all, you not only have to interact with them, you have to dance with them--but not anymore. Do what works best for you. Like photography? Take pictures of aspiring models. Like fashion? Many women in the field. Etcetera. Becoming a better hugger. Always take con…

Absolutely. But how many of these women do you find? Very, very few. These aren't the HBs you kino-escalate at a bar in hopes of closing. They're the type of people with which you have an incredible amount to talk about and a strong friendship. That's the pain of the relationship game: meeting person after person, occasionally facing rejection, but more frequently, disappointment -- which is just as hard. I found someone like this recently, but circumstances forced it to an end (see my history f…

Keep up it, my friend. You can only practice your late game by getting past the initial stages time and time again. Keeping up the energy level with strangers for several hours is a challenge, and you'll discover what works best for you with practice.

Looking forward to more of your FRs. The cold bar-style approach doesn't appeal to me either, but I've taken the principles in /r/seduction to my own life to achieve a similar goal. I feel like there should be a "PUA guide to finding a long-term relationship" or something to that effect, i.e., something more meaningful that fuck buddies and one-night stands.

I actually like it as a general framework. Think of your own attraction level as being fungible. Example: Well-dressed and well-groomed: +1 Fit: +1 Funny and witty: +1 Wealthy: +1 Confident: +1 You can take a relatively unattractive person initially, add the proper training, and voila, he is 10-worthy.

Some ideas, for science: What would you consider the ideal sexual experience? What do you fantasize about? What is the most important thing to consider during sex?

I like these because they don't apply specifically to pick-up, but rather to generally being a great conversationalist. Does anybody have more links like this?

Learn salsa. It's hugely popular and it's only growing. All over the world. There are many Latin styles of dance which are close relatives: merengue, bachata, cumbia, rueda, etc. giving you an arsenal that you can use nearly anywhere in the world.
/r/seduction08/11/11 01:12 AM

What kind of club is this? If it's your typical non-descript dance club, it feels like salsa moves would be cheesy and I wouldn't expect girls to know what the fuck I'm talking about if I said, "merengue, merengue." Perhaps my moves aren't good enough. Most clubs like this feel so predatory, at least where I'm from. There's always an excess number of bros circling hot women like vultures.

Exactly this. I have the opposite problem: attracting younger girls. I've always been told I'm mature for my age and people often guess I'm 3-4 years older than I am. Hence, I'm naturally drawn to the no-bullshit approach of more mature people.

I was exactly in the same position when I was your age. I lost my virginity at 22, forcing myself to experience it so I could finally start having a love life. The more you push off sex, the larger you blow it up in your mind, and suddenly it becomes an insurmountable obstacle. You will constantly change and grow, as will your relationship desires and what you value about women. My perfect woman as a 21-year old is much different than what I now envision as my perfect match (as a 25-year old). Y…

Learning Game is about stepping out of your comfort zone and challenging yourself. If you're on seddit you should always take a potentially great blown opportunity than a sure thing which doesn't push you forward.

What's interesting is that, in my experience, backing off is the only way to get the girl, even ones that don't necessarily feed off attention. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like without push/pull it's hard to build attraction.

I've experienced what you described, and I've made it a rule not to do formal pickup with AFC friends or even really talk about it much. I've made it clear that there are nights where I go out with friends and there are nights that I go out for pickup. On the pickup nights, they'll have to read the material if they'd like to join; otherwise, the pickup synergy among the group is lost. I know, it may seem like a harsh sentence, but I'm a pickup noob and it's a delicate game. We, as rAFCs or PUAs,…

There are a few higher-order rules you can use to help get you into the flirting mindset: Don't take ANYTHING she says seriously. Make as many jokes as possible. Speak with exaggerated inflections. Smile. :) Once you've gotten her hooked and flirting back, you'll know when to scale it back and be more serious and move into deeper conversation.

Not judging; just interested in your experience with it. The 100 set challenge is probably a better stepping stone for focusing on sticking points and hashing them out. I'm planning to try it myself.

I'm asked to come up with a good opinion opener for him to open a 4 set of girls. My response: "Fuck opinion openers. Walk up to them, bop them all on the head and go 'Duck, duck, duck, duck, goose!'" HAHAHAH. I have to try this.
